The shoe community is the worst …. We complained for years about there not being enough shoes for everyone who wanted them ! Now that there’s enough shoes for everyone and resell is the lowest it’s EVER been to the point of being nonexistent we are now complaining about exclusivity 🤷🏾‍♂️ this is the way of the human being ! 😂

If this was 2016 Richie he would love the royal 1 reimagined, he was always saying the AJKO was a good alternative 😂

Johnny sound like he has the agenda of hating on everything to prove a point that he’s different and not a hype beast 😂😂

I’m not mad at the way the game is, but I definitely do feel like they over saturate the market at times and it can get a bit overwhelming for some, but me personally I’m not complaining I’m happy I’m able to see shoes that I want for great prices and go after the kicks and sometimes even the clothes that I like and just enjoy them especially knowing I got them easily for a great price. The game is all over the place, but I’m excited to see what this year overall has in store for us in the sneaker/fashion community that love shoes and clothing.

Great discussion as always. I think its tough to say 2024 will unanimously be "different". Fashion will take years to progress and develop into a different style. For all we know chrome hearts, 90s retro style, denim tears, etc. will still be here in 2024. Great video!

More people are into fashion than sneakers that's why sneakers like Jordan 1s are not selling out. People are leaning towards Asics or New Balance as they are more fashion forward.

Johnny said it best at 11:38 that nothing brought feelings. I think of what was so different between this year and say a year like 2018 for Nike. You had retros like BC3s and Concords, collabs like the Union 1 and Nike Fear of God collection, and a silhouette like the React 87s all in one year. There were feelings of nostalgia, there were feelings of "I don't get it" especially with the Union 1s, and feelings of " I don't know if I can rock it". This year, there was so much... expected. Nike had so much reliance on one or two silhouettes, Dunks and Jordan 1s that it didn't feel special. But when something like a reverse Grinch, an SB 4, or heck something like a Vomero dropped, I know I at least tried to go after it because it peaked my curiosity and had hype to it. I think to capture that feeling again there needs to be something new because collaborations don't feel as special when it's just a color swap. New silhouettes, new shapes, new materials. When you give these collaborations the trust to put their spin on something, you have unique things like the Fear of God 1, the Ten, and the 97/1. You saw some of that more recently with the CPFM air flea 2 or the Summer of 96 Unions because even if some people hated them, others really loved them. I think to capture those feelings and emotions, you can't be afraid to be different. You can't rely on just one or two silhouettes and or one or two influencers. Nike at least can put away some models, bring some old ones back out (17s I see you) and hopefully have those collabs that have something more to bring to the table

Basing what YOU want off of resale value is craaazy

I personally believe that fashion has become far more subjective & expressive to the individual: it’s less driven by hype & who has the newest & coolest “high end” piece. It’s way more about how you can style unique & lesser-available pieces. Gone are the days of just flexing a tee or a hoodie as a statement and more about how those pieces (which are more readily available now) compliment an entire fit. It’s a good time to be a consumer.

I understand missing the feeling of the exclusivity, the chase and what have you, but I truly love being able to grab what I want if I really want it. Oversaturation has happened this past year, and I can see brands pulling back a bit to drive up demand again. So all I have to say is if you really want something, this is the time to get it. If you really a collector that appreciates the shoes for what they are and not their price, this is your time. Not everything has been hits, but there have been some true gems in the rest of the clutter.

I think that week after week, they want us to feel hyped up to buy something. They being Nike and Jordan Brand (money grab). However, brands like New Balance, Asics, and Saucony even, are creating genuine organic collabs that feel closer to the people. They are taking risks and it is paying off. The collaborator that created a buzz for Nike that wasn't fabricated and was real was corteiz. To be honest going into 2024 I feel like sneakers is becoming super diluted and it can seem overwhelming. Hope the 2024 goes well for sneakers and fashion.

I love that AJ1 prices dropped, I’m out here buying. At a certain point too many dropping and I’m stocked up. I love the low resale for so many sneaker brands. I don’t exclusivity to think something is good

I think with fashion and sneakers it’s been in a different direction since 2023. I actually like how people can get what they want, but ofc there has been a lack of excitement on certain shoes because leaked photos don’t do justice, like the reimagined royal 1.s were def a flop, they ruined that shoe by changing the material, yea it maybe a cool idea but look at the shoe they’re sitting at stores and even outlets. I think it’s time for these shoe companies to to start looking at the comments and actually listen to the fans on what they want

Well in my opinion lol it sucks trying to get shoes but they sold out fast. It's bc the resellers buy them all up. My dream shoe is the Jordan 4 but hell I could never get them. I am older now and still can't really afford them bc I have other priorities then spending 300 to 400 on shoes. That's a bill payment. I keep hoping to win a pair but I never can lol
