Amazing channel! As someone who has battled insecurities and had a - modest - modeling career, just wanna say to anyone who's ever been a victim of hate / violence because of their appearance, gender, orientation, race: DO NOT ever let a hateful notion 'there's something wrong with me' sink in. Trust me, it's a recipe for self hatred. When we suffer and we need a break, it's only natural to think: maybe if I wasn't 'different', if I was 'normal' I would be accepted. No, haters will always find something else to prey upon. I've always had kinda androgynous look, which was a fuel for bullies when I was growing up. I embraced it, used it to my advantage in my acting / modeling career, I was almost the face of Leon in these new Resident Evil games :)
Love your videos! They inspire me to be much less conservative. Even though I'm closer to 80 than 70 I still think clothes should be fun Thankyou so much.
Pops of colour- always ! Yesterday I found a vintage clothing store and so full of style, unlike most modern clothing. Found adorable pieces including a two piece silk georgette outfit, sadly not suitable for my lifestyle but highlighting what is missing these days.
I love your channel and watch it all the time! Have you ever thought of doing a Vlog roll? You know… like a list of your favorite collabs. I’d love to know who you follow? Do you watch a lot of RU-vid fashion channels? What are your favorites? I’m having a hard time finding more edgy, classic fashion folks like yourself ❤
I’m on a weight loss journey and am finding myself drawn to new styles as my body changes. Learning about how to invest in quality pieces and style existing ones is so helpful. I’ve seen many style channels and this by far the one that resonates most with me. The edgy classic look is definitely a style I love. Thank you for helping me as I go through my journey.
I loved this video, glad I've found your channel! Just to add an extra positive to the oversized "trend" is that all those pieces are your good friends if your weight tends to fluctuate! Not having to buy a whole new wardrobe every time I gain is KEY.
This was a REALLY good video, Emily. I got to thinking about pieces in my wardrobe that I love, but I never wear because I was afraid they would look silly. Now I have a solid idea of what direction to go with them! I have a floor length indoor coat that I am determined to wear.
i've been wearing my Norma Kamali joggers with my blazers since 2017 LOL sooo i've been ahead of the trend for several years now .... I find fitted joggers are easier to pull off in an ''elevated' way. Tibi also have some good stylish joggers that can recreate the look. another way to wear more officewear ready joggers is to wear them with a pointy boots are shoes bonus point if they have heels.
Love your videos love the edge but bows are a no no for me.Colour popping a handbag or shoes, socks. No to crochet that l will give a miss. Preppy is a winner. Keep up the great vlogs.
Now that Everlane has pretty much sold out of their oversized black blazers, would love a rec for something similar since the power blazer is going to continue to be trendy in 2024. You’ve got such a great eye!
Another great video. Preppy Edge speaks to me. It describes much of my wardrobe and style. I appreciate that although you have a well-defined style, you want others to find their own, not blindly copy your style. It makes style more personal and meaningful when viewed that way. Thanks for being you! ❤
Wish you would add a "What I'm wearing today" to the bottom of the information box. Really would like to know where you got the herringbone blazer you wore in this video. I don't watch all your videos, so perhaps you've mentioned it in previous videos, but alway good to let us know what your wearing-especially when you talk about trends and not what's in your wardrobe. Thanks!
Thank you!! I tend to gravitate toward black/gray/white but I think even I could manage to shake things up a little in 2024 with some color poppin'. Baby steps, right?? ❤
Thank you Emily, another great video. Would be really inteesting to see again what you have decluttered in 2023 and what is new in your wardrobe in 2024 - and maybe what you are planning for 2024. Thank you
Loved this video Emily! AND I also loved the Pinterest board you created with the links/brands - sooooo easy to refer to and save! (Although I am not happy I discovered that Off White "elevated" white tee - sigh ..... haha
Bows and Florals - while feminine - is also a look little girls wear and can go wrong quickly. It can give a mature woman a juvenile appearance, especially with some body types. Tread carefully here.
Tread carefully? Nah. There’s gotta be a way to style every trend that will flatter any individual and their comfort level. Us women and our bodies are judged and critiqued so harshly and I’m gonna spend the rest of my life trampling all over every box society ever tried to shove me into. I just turned 41. What a privilege to have lived in good health for so long. Time to celebrate! 🎉
@@jam_is_jammin I 100% support your passion and intent not the be "shoved in" any direction and to make the world a better & more tolerant place. I have a few decades on you. I was fortunate to work alongside brave women who made - with personal sacrifices - significant strides in barrier-breaking & paving the way for all voices. They used clothing to empower their messages. If you find that you can accomplish your vision wearing bows or whatever, all the power to you.
Do you have suggestions about incorporating your style ideas for those of us who are thicker and older?? Love you and your style … just wish I knew how to adapt your items to enhance my own journey.
Fab ! Amazing work ! I always rely on you to distil the new trends to what is essential and can work for everyone regarding of their age, style etc… thank you !
Ok, I love the carhartt beanie you wear, so I ordered one. When I received it, I realized it was 100% acrylic. This surprised me because I know you don’t like acrylic. I assume your red one is acrylic also? or do they make them in other materials?
Wow! Your recent posts have been EXTRAORDINARY! I love your sense of style, and I have a styling challenge that might interest you - a pair of vintage black, geometric-patterned, sequined flare pants. I know I can get these to work, just haven't yet... Thinking high contrast - warm-up jacket and runners? Denim and Lenny Kravitz? A surprise glimpse under a long, all black, layered ensemble?
Here is a preppy, chic, power dressing with a bit of edge girl. Nothing is more sophisticated than a bow, botton down and some not to crazy rippled jeans.
Love love love! I’m a fitness professional and sometimes get caught between having to be in all black yet we have freedom with our shoe color! So let’s go with sporty color pop! 🎉
