You are taking your reviews to another level thank you James - super solid. Some fun boards I rode alot of days on our epic past NZ season were the Endeavour Scout, Salomon Super 8 Pro, Burton Skeleton Key & Custom X, Korua Cafe Racer and as you mentioned the Dancehaul all super solid and great freeride all mountain varying flex and have just picked up a Yes PYL for its ability in hard pack /icer conditions hopefully. Thanks for your input it is phenomenal you have ridden over 800 boards 🤙

I went with the YES Basic Uninc 2023 model last year thanks to your reviews and I absolutely loved it for the last few trips last season. I'm glad to see they stuck with what worked and it stayed on your list for 2024. I'm considering adding a 2024 Nitro Optisym to the quiver and sizing down a tiny bit for something really playful but I can't find any real reviews on it, sadly. Is that one just not sent out for demos/reviews?
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 5 месяцев назад
So glad it worked for you like it did for us. So I did ride it but they sent one to me that was cracked near the nose so it didn't feel right publishing the review. Unfortunately, I ever got on it again. I think if it wasn't cracked I would have really enjoyed it because I just loved the way it turned, buttered off the tail, popped off the tail and just the way it felt playing around.

Great video as always. I hope to see a comparison Indoor Survival VS Basic Uninc. For me is quite unusual to ride powder, I got a Disaster for jibbing and small kickers I would like something more aggressive with good edge hold buy still pressable…. Thanks a lot
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 4 месяца назад
Many thanks! Indoor Survival went back to being a true twin with a centered stance so it's no longer an all mtn board as you can't set it back like the ones on this list. So if you like directional float in pow go Basic Uninc with the set back inserts. Same with hard snow and uneven snow. The Indoor Survival has more dynamic pop through a turn and on an ollie.

Hey guys, thank you so much for all your reviews! It has been a wealth of information for me trying to find a board. Based on other videos I did go with the Yes PYL Uninc. I do mostly ride groomers just because powder is rare where i am from. I'm not in the park. When there is some powder we of course immediately exit the groomers (but that probably accounts for 20% of our overall time). Now i was wondering: Would the Yes Basic be a better fit for this than the PYL is? What do you think?
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 7 месяцев назад
Thanks for the good words. You have a great freeride board with the PYL Uninc and it all comes down to personal preference. If you want to ride switch a lot and like more of a twin feel the Basic Uninc might be a great call. If you like a more directional ride and much better float in pow you have the right board already.

Did you have a chance to ride the Lib Tech Orca? Would love to see how it stacks up against the boards you recommended. I’m an intermediate looking for a primarily directional all mountain board for 80% groomers, side hits, and medium jumps with 20% powder that rarely exceeds 8in deep. I have a Capita DOA that struggles a little in powder when we get it and some of the more aggressive choppy terrain. A lot of the side hits in my area are poorly managed and rut out bad. Thanks in advance, love the reviews!
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 6 месяцев назад
Wouldn't call that All Mtn. It's more Alt Freeride because it's shorter, wider, very tapered and very directional. Didn't make the favorites list this year but its a very forgiving easy board to ride. It will compliment the DOA well. Oh what a fun board for the time and glad it works for you. Two pretty different rides so hard to say knowing so little about you. I'd probably consider something else. Both fit well. Actually the Shadowban would be stiffer but both aren't stiff with that combo. I think it depends on preference. Basic Uninc is more poppy, has a faster base and more grip. Thanks for the excellent reviews. I’m looking to buy my first board and am having a tough time deciding on what direction to go after liking a few recent rentals I had. I like occasional powder runs, groomed runs, and love to have some surfy style when I carve as my main sport is surfing. I like to hit a few really small kickers for fun, but don’t see myself being into the park. I recently rented the Salomon Highpath, and felt very comfortable on it. @@thegoodridesnow gooot it. I really appreciate the reply, you all, and just to be clear, I meant all lists, not just yours. I will definitely check the review. I demoed a custom on the east coast this year and it was a dream through everything except pow, which we didn't have that day. it's my reference point, so selfishly want to see it on more lists.

Thanks and good to know about the other lists as well as your perspective. If you need help deciding on if the Custom is right for you and want to get into it more hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/ Also check thegoodride.com to compare all the boards we reviewed. I think we are over 700 mens boards and closer to 1,000 if you count previous models ridden.

Having ridden both I feel the deepfake is better all around than the shadowban, which seems more like a freestyle centric board that’s a bit too soft for riding hard/off piste.
