The base mustang has always had an engine that was more geared towards cruising. But idk how anyone is complaining about 315 hp. As long as it’s reliable who cares. Enjoy this car even exists in the first place. It’s putting down the numbers while being efficient. It’s one of the best bang for the bucks.
Nice review, sir! The only thing that I don’t agree with is your assessment of the rear end of the mustang. I like the new “sliced” version of the rear lights and the diffuser. But it’s all subjective I realize but I think it’s really cool. Appreciate you and your candor, and have much respect for your assessment of the last(?) generation of the mustang
All good! It’s good to have a healthy discussion about differentiating opinions. The rear-end has grown on me, but not by much. Lol. I don’t think this will be the last ICE Mustang. Ford’s got long money and enough EVs out there to be able to keep throwing a big engine into their flagship coupe.
Great review, very sharp, color blue is one of my favorite, and i totally agree with you about the back end, and the too many confusing trim options, this is a 4 cylinders 315hp, the old trans am/camaro 8 cylinders had a 300 hp, this car is great if you want to be cool and not waking up the neighborhood on saterday morning, all in all i think the 2024 Mustang is the best looking Mustang ever.
@@TheHungryRoad I mean I've been lookin at some and I could get an eco with all the options I want for 32k, 10k is quite a few more bucks and a much bigger down payment to get those monthlies down to the price of the eco.
@@TheHungryRoad Yeah, it's a shame because I do want a v8, I just don't think it's in the budget. And I love my 08 v6, it's just time to switch out but that car has been good to me even without that v8 rumble.
Just came across your good comprehensive review. Let me assist with your criticism of the rear end treatment. This is the 60th anniversary of a vehicle that has been in continuous production. Ford has purposely used design elements to pay homage to prior generations. That's why you can dial in a Fox body instrument screen. Mustangs had an inward sweeping taillight design in the late 60's. Granted, not as severe as the 2024, but certainly obvious to anyone paying attention. Don't forget that the most famous Mustang of all, from the car chase scene Steve McQueen made legendary in the movie "Bullitt", was a '68 Mustang with a very inward sweeping rear end treatment.
The ecoboost is a fab car. People "hating" on it should bear in mind that this is what makes the continued production of the v8 possible. The volume is needed, and the average mpg across the range needs that "boost" too. That said. I prefer the outgoing model. Exterior is far more attractive. This looks too much like a Camero. In the wrong way. As for the dashboard? Total dealbreaker. I couldn't bear to sit behind that computerized slab every day. This is the ugliest dashboard I have ever seen on a mustang.
You are so correct! I should’ve made some of those points in the video about why the EcoBoost is necessary for the V8 to survive. Ugh. Hopefully people will understand that and Hell yeah, that dash is like sitting at work looking at computer screens. Lol.
@@TheHungryRoad - I think the premium, single curved screen is better looking. It is growing on me. I do like the interior better than older model because door panels are nicer, steering wheel is better and dash has nicer softer touch surfaces. Seats are better too. I’m liking exterior more too. My concern is the lack of simple intuitive controls for routine functions. AC, Cruise, Audio, and maybe navigation should be analog not digital on screen. More knobs or switches are needed. I like the approach Mazda and BMW are using .
@rembo183. I hear you 100%. I like the single screen better than the dual. The buttons versus screen thing seems to take on different opinions depending on the car it’s in. For something like this, I’d prefer buttons.
@TheHungryRoad right now I have a 2009 scion xd with 200,700 miles in it but still going smooth. But mustang is awesome. Did u decides to get the ecoboost?
@TheHungryRoad it doesn't hurt to add Xtra thousands to get the v8 GT to really feel the solid muscle car and you will thank u did. I think its very wise to rent it first that way u Can see if it's really for you or not. Since I'm not single anymore and I have a child, I'm still deciding between challenger and mustang
This car is plenty. Illinois does not play if you get caught speeding. For all of us who just drive to work and hit a back road once in a while, this car is plenty enough to throw you in jail.
It’s not about speed for the GT fans it’s about that sound and powerful feeling on start up, idling and of course speed too. It’s the looks, the sound and the power! Total package for $50k. Not a bad deal at all if you like it…buy it!
The Ecobooat can handle quite a bit of power. Turbo upgrade kits exist for anout 2k and will get you about 500hp... if you get the performance pack with Brembo breaks and suspension upgrades, you will get a lighter car with more hp for 10k less than a GT
Man. I’d be scared of upgrading the car that much. I always hear of stuff breaking and blowing up when people start throwing power and stock engine blocks.
Ecoboosts are great till they break. Hopefully they’ve made improvements but I know an HVAC tech whose company went through 6 eco F-150s, buddies SHO Taurus blew two turbos, buddies grandma had a 2.0L Escape with head issues. Each of these were under 60k miles. Old ones are absolute garbage. Plastic oil pans and belts for oil pumps aren’t giving me confidence for the new ones either.
SSSHHHEEEEEEEEESSSHHH! That’s crazy! I actually own a 2015 SHO with 117,000+ miles that I have done a video on 2 years ago and I’ve had no problems. I’m hoping to keep up the good streak!
@@TheHungryRoad To be fair, out of all of those I listed I’d say the SHO was the most abused. He took it to 100mph flat foot when it was 20F outside with no warmup. One turbo died a week later and the second a few months after. His was/is also a 2010 model, which I believe didn’t have an oil cooler, so day to day life was rougher for the turbos as well. I think 2013+ has the cooler. Best of luck with yours!
man, they're really fighting for the secretary car status with this one... no manual transmission, no paddles, no remote start (which was STANDARD on s550's, even the v6 when that was around).. all that goofy fancy tech. Crazy to think this car just a decade prior was a MUSCLE car, now its just a genesis coupe with a horse on the front..
I wish Ford had continue with the 3.7 V6 instead of the 4. My 2012 3.7 convertible with some mild tweaks goes 13.70 in the 1/4. That's respectable and faster than most 60's era Mustangs. I would be all in for 3.7 2024 but not the 2.3 turbo.
Well, I ask you this. If Ford can get 315 hp out of a turbo 2.3L I4, what kind of power would you be expecting from a V6? Plus the I4 is more fuel efficient AND… it’s all marketing pushing people to get the V8.
@@TheHungryRoad I have 160,000 trouble free miles on my 3.7. could a turbo 2.3 deliver the same? I don't think so my car currently delivers about 350 HP and is a reliable daily driver. oh yeah and on a round trip to Georgia and back from NJ got 27MPG.
Lol. Thats the spirit! I hear you though. Like I mentioned in the video, this is a Mustang for those on a budget, who don’t want to make a whole lot of noise and for people who just want to say they have a Mustang. Thank you for watching!
Other commentators have mentioned this exact same thing. Not that in FOR the I4, but… what would you expect Ford to produce out of the 2.3L T I4? It makes 315 hp! Where would they place the V6 versus the V8?
Too bad any wheels over 18 inches become victim of potholes eventually, especially when you are a spirited driver. 18's will always hold up better over the long term.
Depends on the profile of the tire. I’ve run 20s on some of my cars and had a 25 profile, those were disastrous. Lol. On another car I had the same 20s, but with a 30 profile and had no idea whatsoever.
