I had one as a rental last week and I was shocked at how well it was! Very quiet and plenty of power. My only gripe was the fact that the headrest did not move forward.
So, i have a weird take on this car. And kind of the whole Genesis line in general. I feel like they are doing a bit of a "Mazdafication" of the brand. First, the 2.5LT. Its an engine that is ubiquitous in the Mazda range, and the Genesis 2.5L delivers power very similarly, though with a bit more top end authority. As i suspect Hyundai use a bigger turbo than Mazda does. The interior styling is also very similar, with the diamond stitch being the only real standout in the Genesis interior design language. The touch points have a very familiar Mazda materials feel to them, and even the navigation of the infotainment system is not far off the Mazda GUI and controls. The chassis dynamics are pretty close too. I wouldnt compare this too directly with say the Mazda6, with it being a bit more nimble and lighter feeling, as well as FWD. But when you look at the direction Mazda is going with the CX-90, and the way it handles, the whole Genesis chassis dynamic is very much in line with that CX-90 ride and feel, with solid chassis feedback and a floaty spring and dampening rate. Something that becomes very obvious when you drive a CX-90 back to back with the CX-9, which is much more stiff and darty in its presentation, but numb in some feedback. Which you can also feel if you drive a Genesis back to back with its Kia cousin, the Stinger. If Genesis keeps this up, they may just "Out Mazda" Mazda in that up market premium segment, by just going that little bit further in every direction to what Mazda does, without pushing the price too out of reach.
Nice but looks like Genesis wants you buy something else... I live in Fort Worth, TX and an new inventory search shows there is not a single G70 of any type within 250 mi radius. ????
