This hrv is going to be popular like the rav4. You're getting more car for your money. I appreciate Honda helping people out on a budget. I'm not a small guy but this car is spacious. And reliability is like Toyota. I'm fortunate to be able to buy this car. Many thanks to Honda.

I have a 2020 Sport, and this is better in every way especially the Civic like interior. Still underpowered even though it has the Civic engine. Needs the 1.5 T engine to be competitive. Also why is Honda eliminating the engine TEMP gauge in the instrument panel on many models and trims?

Just got one and upgraded from 22 civic - it’s the same acceleration as a civic sport 2022 due to same horsepower and engine. These people comparing have never test driven this car. Y’all have no idea what you’re talking about it accelerates perfectly fine, it’s not a damn race car. It’s a mini tank that is safe and reliable which is what most people look for in a car- go get the type R if you’re complaining about acceleration and HP lol - and older Honda may have been more power but the new 4 cylinders are so good and efficient they use less power compared to older Hondas. 😂

I helped my mom into one of these back in January 2023. We test drove Crosstrek, corolla cross and the HR-V last, and thats what she went with. Yes, it's slow, and at 28.4 mpg over 13000 miles that she's had it, honestly not that efficient either, but this thing, like most new Honda products, exudes a much more premium feel when driving. From the way the climate control knobs click, the tactility of the steering wheel controls, the full LED interior/exterior lighting and full speed driver assistance tech, to the way the suspension absorbed impacts, it was a no brainer. These things drive WAY nicer than the prior gen Fit based model, and the space inside doesn't feel far off 2010 era CR-V. You also can't beat the simplicity of a port injected k20 engine and a pretty solid CVT, of which Honda has a good reputation when talking reliability on them. Solid vehicle, especially in this spec, for under $30k.

My sister had been looking for a car for about 8 months when she got her car. We test drove a RAV4, CR-V, CR-V Hybrid, HR-V, Tiguan, Rogue Sport, and finally Volkswagen Taos. Each vehicle had their flaws: RAV4: sluggish and loud ride + high price CR-V: high price, no pano roof, no branded audio system - same for CR-V Hybrid HR-V: no backseat amenities, VERY slow and bad mpgs, no pano roof or branded audio system, high price for the offering Tiguan: very loud ride and sluggish engine Rogue Sport: dangerously slow, loud, no good features for the price Taos: no power liftgate The Taos offered everything she wanted except for the power tailgate at a really good price. $33,500 for her top of the line SEL 4Motion trim. It has a 1.5L Turbo engine, and a 7-speed DSG, that work together very smoothly and perfectly. 0-60 in under 7 seconds. Average of 33 mpg city and 40 highway. The Beats Audio system loads the cabin up with bass and is a good fit for the car. It also has things that make it feel like a premium car, such as a standard heated steering wheel, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, 10.25 inch digital and customizable gauges, wireless Apple CarPlay with a wireless charger, and every single light on the car is LED aside from the cargo area light. It also has backseat amenities that others in the subcompact category didn't even offer (looking at you HR-V), like vents, USB-C port, and center armrest with 3 cupholders. It also has more room than the bigger and pricier Tiguan, which is crazy. 18,000 miles and going strong. It feels very peppy and quick and before I hear anyone say anything about VW reliability, the new ones are much much more reliable than the 08-18 ones. That was when the VW TDI engines were in their prime, as well as the beginning of advanced technology. They've revised their powertrains and technology and not only have their reliability ratings skyrocketed, their actual reliability has too. I've seen plenty for sale with 150k-200k+ miles. The Taos was just the logical pick for her, and it fit her the best with everything she wanted at the price she was willing to pay.

Did you try the Mazda CX30 or CX5?
@barbz_zayne
@barbz_zayne Год назад
@@NaijaBull if you're talking to me, then yes we looked at both. the CX-5's seating position wouldn't go high enough for my sister's likings, plus the screen was too 'complicated', and the CX-30 didn't have enough backseat room or trunk space. she couldn't test drive the CX-5 obviously, but the CX-30 turbo did have plenty of pep in its step and power was no problem. the gas mileage wouldn't have been ideal though, but the Taos DSG is also very peppy and it can hit 60 in about 7 seconds flat. not to mention the DSG transmission has two big bonuses - going up a 6500 ft mountain in 7th gear at 70 mph pushing 1,800 rpm, and my sister just yesterday got 43.8 mpg on the interstate on a 3 hour drive

@@barbz_zayne, you still don’t know the long term reliability. After 150,000 miles or so comeback and tell us how the reliability was. @@sachemrock the 1.5T engine & DSG transmission have proven excellent reliability in both the Jetta and Golf, and i'm sure the Taos would be no exception. there are countless reports of Jettas and Golf's with these powertrains hitting over 200,000 miles and recently there have been recordings of Taos' hitting 100,000. their reliability has also been proven in the 21+ Atlas and Tiguan, especially with the VR6 engine in the Atlas.

Hopefully dealerships aren't as proud of them now as they were in December last year. All wanted markups, which was silly IMO as the engine is pretty weak and its not even all that fuel economic for its size. I was able to find a gray 2023 37mpg highway 225ftlbs larger 1500lbs tow rated Nissan Rogue S for the $105 less than they wanted for a gray 2023 32mpg 138 lb-ft smaller non-tow rated Honda HRV because the Honda they had these expensive floormat package, wheel locks, and other dealer add-ons to where it made no financial sense. Supposedly Toyota and Honda are still the most marked up, with Hyundai/Kia being second most marked up.

In Australia this is called the ZR-V, in line with the version sold in Europe and Japan. The engine options are either the same 2 litre engine as in the US but with an added hybrid system that boosts power considerably, or a 1.5 turbo engine. (Torque produced by the hybrid is 232 lb/ft and for the turbo is 183 lb/ft.) The hybrid comes with an ecvt and imperceptible switches between battery and engine power; there is no CVT "drone". The top spec of each comes with a power tailgate and 12 speaker Bose audio system, dual zone a/c, heated front and rear seats and steering wheel. 11 air bags on board, all safety systems incl bind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. Front and rear sensors and sharp 360 degree camera. It has leather seats and 18 inch "diamond cut" alloy wheels. The front grille and surrounds are different to US HR-V. Ours has a larger info screen and fully digital instrument panel. No sunroof is available here and it only comes in front-wheel drive. Fully made in Japan. Prices are a lot higher than in the US. For the spec described above our prices "on the road" (all taxes and delivery charge included) are equivalent to $32,000 for the turbo and $36,000 for the hybrid. We get 5 colour options against 7 available in Japan and 6 in New Zealand. One small perk is no additional charge for any paint colour. The wheel arch cladding is also painted in the body colour. The main criticism I have seen of the ZR-V is more road noise than expected. We also have the HR-V but it is an entirely different model to the one sold in the US.

My Wife and I test-drove this last week and it was not only slow, but it was loud about it. When taking off from a light it sounded like it was working way too hard. I've found that the compact class tends to be a better value than sub-compact. You get the better engines and in spite of the bigger size, you actually get higher fuel economy. Its better IMO to step up to a base model of a compact than a high trim of a subcompact. So if staying with Honda, check out the CRV.

My thoughts as a 1 year owner This car does not feel like an SUV at all, it sits and rides like a car that has a high center of gravity. This translates to a weird situation where you feel like you’re sitting in a car, but handling feels like an SUV Do not buy this if you want a higher ride height it’s just a civic that sits 2 inches higher. The engine choice was unfortunate. The lack of power isn’t a deal breaker, I’m used to slow cars, but it’s slow AND a gas guzzler Realistically I only get 19-21mpg in mostly city driving in normal mode. The engine was built for a 2016 civic, the HR-V is simply too heavy for the engine to be effective. Cargo space isn’t very good considering the size, the outgoing HRV was over a foot shorter and made the same numbers. There’s a lot of wasted space inbetween the cargo liner and the spare tire that could have been utilized like in the civic hatch. The overall refinement and interior quality material is good, throttle response and brake feel are top notch. I don’t recommend this car for most people. The Civic hatch is superior in most situations, cargo, ground clearance are almost identical.

The lower than expected fuel efficiency is a paradoxical effect we have seen with a few other "subcompact" SUV/crossovers for some time. ISTM you get the effect that that the next tier up of "compact"' SUVs often will have more sophisticated engines and the "subcompacts" will just have a lesser power plant (cost issues). And of course about the underpowering, that's the car makers way of acknowledging: 90% of our buyers will 90% of the time be hauling nothing more than themselves plus one and at most a cartful of groceries, and are never going outside the basic commute/errands routes.

@jjacob25101
@jjacob25101 5 месяцев назад
I have never seen someone describe the firm seats as rock hard. Police cars and others have firm seats for support. After long hours of driving, soft cushy seats can cause discomfort and pain after long hours behind the wheel, especially big roads are bad and you have back or other body ache problems stemming from your health conditions. Ditto for the firm steering and suspension. Don't expect anything less from a Sport a trim model it's expected to have firm steering, but this is considered moderate. And the suspension has done body roll on sharp turns, which you probably won't ever make. This is essentially an SUV version of a Honda Sport, which people who buy it know what they are getting into. At least you got to test drive it. I don't know what other advice I could give you other than but a cushy padded seat covers and go to the gym to be able to turn the steering wheel with ease. My only complaints I had about a car's steering is it's too soft and vague, and the suspension is bouncy and does not have control, not considering mechanical problems not originally in a new properly functioning vehicle.

Depends on dealer. I had dealers quoting up to $3k more than others for same/similar equipped 2024 HRV EXL w/BSI. I went with a dealership 45 minutes out of the city (Chicago), and I saved that $3k that a city dealer was quoting.

maybe i'm the crazy one but I have a 2024 ex-l model which to my absolute shock, doesn't include a windshield wiper fluid sensor so we're in the middle of the highway in a snow storm and run out of fluid....i had to check to make sure my brand new vehicle wasn't already broken. every vehicle i've driven in my entire life including my previous 2015 pilot had the low fluid indicator light so i didn't even realize not having that light was even a thing...to my surprise this vehicle with useless sensors flying out it's ass didn't have one of the most basic safety features known to man which dates back to vehicles well over 30 years old. and on top of that my reservoir is only half the standard size...never driven a car of any kind that didn't take a whole bottle or at least 90% of one...my no sensor car takes roughly half a bottle of fluid which legit will run out every 60 or so minutes on the road in terrible weather. it's inexcusable. between shit like this and the honda sales person committing felony fraud during the process, i'm officially done with honda after this. the company just disgusts me at this point.

Here in Gulf countries I bought new ZR-V EX which is 1.5 Turbo. It has plenty of acceleration and power to cross other cars in seconds. It is 0-100km/h in just 7.5 seconds. It is made in Japan version so more reliable and precisely manufactured. I don’t know why in US version so under power. My one is 181 HP and 240 Nm.

When the others commented. I would rather have the reliable N/A 2.0L. Power is sufficient, but many have a mindset that power equals acceleration performance. There's an $80 OBD II plug in performance chip and the $300 Pedal Commander to improve throttle response. Both are plug and play, easily removed, not flashing the ECU and voiding your warranty. I would only get the 1.5 Turbo if I really wanted a Civic Sport Touring Hatchback, Si or Acura Integra A-Spec Technology Package. Reality check. Sport trims are sporty for the mainstream, with possible aftermarket performance options, but not performance vehicles, they are mainstream everyday vehicles like the Civic Sport, often for the whole family. Reliability and longevity is key. Not performance.
@digitaldoc100
@digitaldoc100 5 месяцев назад
@@jjacob25101 Not obsessed with longevity, and won't use it to justify one of the slowest powertrains on the market. The real reason for the lack of the 1.5T is coming out that they reserved it for the new Acura ADX coming next year. Guess time will tell if the 1.5T is the better solution.

@barbz_zayne
@barbz_zayne Год назад
@Brian_Eugene_Lee i mean if he doesn't like the cvt then he just doesn't like it, an opinion is not a fact unless you're a selfish narcissist😂 he never said it was bad either he just said he didn't like it and some people just don't like cvts as for me, it depends on the driving situation. city driving, cvt is better because it keeps the rpms low and isn't trying to stay in a high gear. but for highway / interstate driving, a regular transmission is better especially a dual clutch DSG because it can drop to its lowest gear and get all the power it needs and improve the gas mileage while holding the set cruise. ex my sister's taos went up a 6,500 ft mountain in 7th gear at 1,800 rpm and never downshifted or went below set 70 mph cruise. it gets like 40 mpg on the interstate and 36 on the highway normally. but the CRV CVT, up that same mountain it was holding tight at like 3,500 rpm. CRV usually gets like 36 on the interstate and 34 on the highway. but the taos in the city usually gets around 29 and CRV 31 or 32 so it depends on your situation which transmission fits your needs better

Hahaha. At this price point, don't expect that, or many other things, but it has the good necessities for a Sport trim, just like the Civic. But it's designed to accommodate rear A/C and additional USB ports if you noticed. It's just a price factor issue. That can add lots of things, but the cost will bring it up to the next level of vehicles without those options.

This us a great review of the HR-V Sport. I have eatched this video deveral times, but didn't realize I haven't commented here on this one. I initially wanted a Boost Blue Pearl or Sonic Grey Pearl Civic Sport Hatchback, snd would get ine as axsecond car if I could, but the HR-V Sport is more practical for what I want and need, with some upscale additions like the exterior rear view mirror LED turn signals, blind spot/rear cross traffic monitoring, full LED taillights, capacitive touch ubterior lighting, and no auto start/stop. I like that it has full manual adjust seats and no sunroof, like the Civic Sport. I will get an Urban Grey Pearl one, but this white in the Sport trim looks great with the black herls, too. But the optional exterior black emblems on the Sport is a must, and should be included with this trim, though sone dealerships add it on. I would pay for that, as I eould get it anyway. But I wish this was offered in Boost Blue Pearl. I know exactly what I will sdd to it, from the OEM accessories to aftermarket other items and customizations. It's great the windows come tinted, but I would probsbly tintbthe front door windows with the same drgree of tint. Many people say it doesn't have enough power, but I disagree. They often equate power with acceleration, and are expecting performance car power from something geared more for reliability, dependability and longevity with this tried and true N/A 2.0L Most of my adfitionsvwill not be primarily performance oriented. I will probably get a K&N replacemen air filter element and maybe the $300 Pedal Commander to improve throttle response, but there is also an $80 one that plugs into the OBD II port I might try. But are fir the Civic Sport withbthe sane engine, abd should work fine, abd are easily removable plug and play without foashingbthe ECU and voiding your warranty, etc. I probably won't need it, but if I felt to body roll on sharp turns was excessive I could get slightly lowered performance coil springs like Eibach. The Civic ones may also fit. The exhaust is loud and sporty enough, at least gor now, unless soneone like Flowmaster ir Borla make a custone cat back performance exhaust for this. I might even be able to add LED fog lights if I can find nice ones that with fit and clamp on the the outer lower grille mountbthe switch to one if the black spots where the traction control switch is. The cargo space would be great, more vertical clearance for taller items thst the Civic Sport Hatchback. I believe the only vehicle in this class thst has more is the Subaru Crosstrek/Imprezza. Amazon has a nice $80 retractable cargo cover and other accesories like vonstome covers gor the keyfobs and even nice leatherette seat covers for front and back. A very practical and reliable everyday driver. The taillightsmakevthis look like an Acura SUV with a very euro look, even from the front.
