I really think the articles could have used a once over. The general idea of the articles is something I can get behind. The specific example used were not great. The tone was not great. Overall I don't mind the direction. I am willing to let them cook.

Thanks for sharing your experience! As a relatively new player it's great to hear where the games going and to see how excited you are makes me really excited as well! Keep up the great content!

I *abhor* it when rumors suggest that “Old-Heads” (such as myself) are such sticklers for things staying the same, and that we are resistant to the game evolving. Most of us *real* OldHeads have stuck with this game when it changed ownership from STG to FFG and then was discontinued and veritably dead until JASCO took a leap of faith of faith and resurrected it. Most of us have seen new mechanics and new strategies implemented, and we’ve not shied away, but have embraced these additions. For most of us OldHeads, we ride or die with this game. Let’s stop pinning these rumors on Old Heads. I would question just what constitutes an Old Head at this point. For me, been here since 2007, and there ain’t no quit in me yet. Bring on this next phase, I say!

I was just quoting the rumors I heard! I 100% agree with you. The "old heads" have been through change after change, and have stuck through it all!! It's probably the players like me that they should be worried about - started with MHA and have not seen any major changes beyond the card layout beying adjusted. You guys know change way better than me.
@iari.melchor
@iari.melchor 4 месяца назад
@@talkUVS Yeah, most of the “I’m quitting this game” talk that I’ve read has primarily come from NEWER players who got in because of MHA and don’t like the fact that UVSG has turned its focus from *only* MHA towards adding other IPs to its staple. I mean between those two camps, who sounds less open minded and less forgiving? 🤷🏽‍♂️

This all sounds really positive. My only 'concern' (if one could really call it that) is power creep. This is a common problem with most games that run this long. BUT ... - in UVS, there are only about 3 or 4 symbols that are really good .. the rest are kinda 'meh' to 'just bad.' - within those 3 or 4 symbols, there are too many cards that are just staples in far too many decks Now, again, I say that fully knowing that its a common problem across SO many games. But, it would be nice to have the designers fill out the other symbols a bit more AND within the symbols, make it so that there are less staple cards. Im not a designer so not sure how easy or hard that is .. just speaking purely from a player perspective. Love the vid though. Super informative. Super energetic. Keep up the great work!

Thanks!! We definitely have a lot of core staples on each symbol but I think the card pool is big enough where surprising decisions are made. Which 3 or 4 symbols are the best to you and which cards too much of staples? This is one of my concerns if AOT spotlight becomes a major competitive format. Will enough cards be strong enough to where we don’t get bored playing the same staples?
@chadc638
@chadc638 3 месяца назад
@@talkUVS To start, I didn't want to suggest that EVERY deck uses certain staples. Apologies if it came across that way. I was typing quick as I was running out the door. Now that the caveat is out of the way: I agree that the pool is big enough. Across all formats, I think its almost 6000 cards. That's fantastic. It speaks to the longevity of the game. However, across the current standard format, its around 900 cards, 190 are UR, SE, SR (including the not released Godzilla challengers). Maybe it's just my untrained eye and/or purely anecdotal but there are a few cards that appear to see a lot of play. Moreso than other cards. Now, a certain part of this is rarity (as mentioned above): UR cards are, and rightfully so, going to see more play than a normal C or UC ... because they are better. Makes sense. IMO, the 'big 3' are Void, Chaos, Death. Earth also got a huge bump with Godzilla. Within those, I see a lot of decks with: Foundations: Excited for Blood, Deft Maneuvers, Botan's Coaching, Immortal Shapeshifter Attacks: Black Abyss, Blueflame Surge, Trace Eyes, Walk the Dog, Looming Terror The common denominator there is rarity. Most of them are higher end cards. In online games using TTS, I suspect this would be even worse as everyone has access to all the cards, regardless of rarity. In R/L games, you can only play what you bought. So the 'seeing too much play' is definitely weighted towards online games. I feel that All, Infinity, Life, Good need a LOT of help. There are, for sure, some really good cards in there ... just not enough. I think your concern about getting bored is valid. However, Im not sure what the solution is. Make UR's less powerful? Make C and UC more powerful? Again, this is an issue with SO many games. Its not specific to UFS. Something that would help with actual data and less anecdotal (and I mentioned this in discord not long ago): it would be awesome if UVSUltra kept stats for cards. It used to. I have no idea who takes care of UVSUltra; I have no idea how difficult that would be to program; I have no idea if the player base would even want or would care about that. Twas just a thought. Also, one last thing: again, take whatever I say with the hugest grain of salt possible. I've only been playing about 8 months and have played maybe 20 games or so. My experience is limited and what I am seeing may be a result of that lack of experience.

No one talks about how 1. Magic 2. Pokemon 3. Yu Gi Oh 4 Universus Universus is the 4th longest game in the history of TCG’s. Think about that. All the games that have come and gone since 2006. This game is special and loved. And continues to survive!! I choose to stay positive and I’m excited for the future of UVS.

"low on resources" seems like a limitation on the number of foundations... but my concern is that it's all about game design, art, IPs... I think the economy of the game needs to change: cost of challenger decks, droprates/quantity of URs, SRs in relation to the number of sets per year... as a new player, I feel like the value proposition is not there, that both the casual experience and the competitive one are too expensive, especially for a game that is almost dead in my area... they need to entice people to join the game from an economic standpoint as well, they need to think of areas where it's close to 0 players, not only areas where they have a playerbase that can be more easily increased
@talkUVS
@talkUVS 4 месяца назад
You aren't completely wrong on your hunch about limited resources, but it's done in a different kinda cool way. I'm with you on wishing the UR/SR rates would drop to make playsets easier to collect. AOT is gonna be a massive set and difficult to collect everything. I will probably have to pick a couple characters or symbols and just go for those cards. At the same time, AOT spotlight is going to be a breath of fresh air and a really nice onboarding experience for new players. New players can choose to ignore standard for several months and just focus on spotlight. Then as their understanding and exctirement for the game grows, they can slowly expand to standard play.

glad to see that UVS is evolving in their community outreach by doing these content creator summits. now we just need them to announce a judge program so I can resume planning and help run judge summits (former L2/region MTG judge) at major regionals and help grow the game with information and enjoyment of the game.

I hope that by the next summit I’ve been able to grow my channel enough to earn an invite! It sounds like an awesome time, and I’m glad you were able to have most of your concerns out to rest! I think as a creator I’m going to focus more on newer players, with my Hermit School of Universus and budget build videos, since you and Tam and Universus Acadamy have competitive pretty much covered

Absolutely!! I'm really happy you are going that route because it's very needed. I keep meaning to make beginner content but my heart just isn't in it and I need to reconize that and stay happy in my lane. I think a cool beginner video would be "how to spend your first $100". We also still need an updated TTS guide, and a guide to the different deckbuilders would be cool too (Ultra, UGN, universus.cards, etc)

@@talkUVS I think a “How To UVS Ultra” would totally be in my wheelhouse. TTS not so much cause I suck at it lol. But I will add that to my list of videos to make.

My thoughts on the content creation request are simple. Neither short form or long form videos should be the focus. A mix of those along with middle form videos (10-15 minutes) will do better for filling the information gaps.

Great content! Safe to say I'm a little weary, but happy that we have online tournament support now. (Thank YOU & Tam and all of the stores!) I gotta be honest, some of my travel isn't UVS based so playing in larger online tournaments is the only game play I am getting in other than locals. I haven't figured out which TTS everyone plays in or how communication works on there yet. I do like playing with the actual cards though.

So Glad to here the people at the summit talk to highly about it, as you say - this level of communication is great! and excitement is infectious indeed! I'm not a fan of AoT (but I still gushed over the old Street fighter cards I guess), but the way everyone's talking about them, Hopefully will bring mack my deck building spirit!
