2024 Jeep Wrangler Sport: As Base As It Gets! 

Have a 2004 Wrangler I bought new 20 years ago. 4.0 6 in it and NEVER a problem. Jeep beach down in Daytona 4 times, various off road events, and years of memories. Looking at this base model but with the 6 in it. I'm liking everything I see, no bells and whistles and highly agree, less bling, less trouble. Give me the engine and trans with guts and I'm good.

Owned multiple variants from 2015 to 2022 wranglers. 2 door is more fun and gives off traditional Jeep feel. Both engines are good, but for reliability I stick to V6. Both my 2.0s have the ticking rough cold startup, may be a concern when older.

Small screen like old one works better and looks more rugged with that rubber around. I'll say, people should get a base two door, add some 33s or 35s and have fun, if you have a primary family vehicle. I just wished it came with standard LED headlights as those are far superior to halogens. Also, a manual it will be fun and you save $2500 and you get the v6. I've only driven manual like 4 times, buy I'm willing to learn in order to save and have more fun. Save the two doors please!

This is not as base as you can get. Manual transmission, rollup, windows, manual door locks, soft top, 2 door. That’s as base as you can get.

I would totally be fine with this Jeep. I take the infotainment system over the power windows any day. Removing the doors would be easier and you would never be challenged at any drive-thru should the power windows fail.

The costs of electronics continue to evolve. Putting that big screen on the base makes sense but like others not needed for this one. I still want lockers though and we know what that means.

It will ride smoother with less psi in the tires. 46 psi is quite high.

You almost found the fabled unicorn; a base Wrangler 2door with a manual transmission, without 20k worth of crap options dumped on it to increase dealer profits. Too bad it had the expensive automatic. But even as is, the vehicle in this video doesn’t exist in NY dealerships.

Base is the only way to go, although I would do with the 3.6. Yes even the base is overpriced, but it's the closest to being like the way Jeeps always were. Not all the bullshit tech and features that will break down the road. I don't care how much many I make. Spending 60k on a Wrangler is stupid

Maybe you can help me clear up the grille mystery. This looks like the new 2024 grille that is only supposed to be available on the higher modes. When I configure a base model 2024 on the Jeep build site and opt for the black grille upgrade it just changes the grille color to black. On this video yours appears to have the new upgraded grille on this base model? Can you shed some light? Am I seeing it right?

Almost as base as it gets….this one has the 2.0L with automatic ($2500 option) and red paint ($595). So if it was White and a 3.6L with manual transmission it would be as base as it gets

Bought the exact same Jeep 11 years ago brand new with 23 miles on it. Base JK 2dr, Flame Red, auto trans, Freedom hard top, A/C and no power anything. It's was $23,995 after taxes and fees. The price now is o crazy. After Taxes and fees, the 2024 is almost twice as much! The price hike in such a short period of time is unbelievable.... Still have mine and it's running like new still with 156,000 miles on it.

For $40,000.00 it should at least come with the 4 to 1 transfer case, dana44 rear axel and locker in the rear axel. Jeep pricing is up 44% in 3 1/2 years. No thanks.

I ordered a 24 Willys 2 door with the V6 and manual transmission. I wish I could've got it with the crank o matic windows and no power locks and without that giant screen. I wish they would let you really custom order them but those days are long gone.

If a four cylinder needs a turbo charger LOL GOOD LUCK after 70k miles! Sport and Sport S do not come in a V6 automatic; Jeep is becoming a *Joke.* A Sport S Unlimited pretty much stripped is 50k + tax. AND you get a 4 banger that has to have a "turbo charger" lol on it! LOL I mean wow! 50k + tax ?? What's wrong with this picture? Must be lol the people *buying* them lol sorry I sincerely can not stop laughing 54k out the door for a stripped Sport S Unlimited lol You can not make this _________ up!

Nice review Ben. We love our base 2022 two door in white with the 3.6 engine, auto trans and hardtop. Got it out the door for under 40k. We have had it on a few long trips and it has done great, while returning 22 mpg on the highway. Roll up windows and no power locks require some getting used to, but you have less weight and are saving chips. 😎

One of the very few cars you can still get with crank-down windows or a solid front axle and probably the only one you can still get with both.

Jeep really needs to get rid of the halogen lights. They're fine for turn signals and taillights, but the LED headlights should be standard.

Make sure everybody gets the memo. Jeep now charges for paint. Anything but white, you add $600. ($595)

I wish they would offer this 2.0L 4cyl with a manual transmission for the 2dr Wrangler. I like the steel rims and halogen headlights and tail lights. Cheaper and less painful to replace light bulbs.

how do you get the smaller grille on the sport? the only ones i see it with on the website are the Willys trim and above. the only option I see on the sport is the satin black grille, but it doesn’t look quite the same as the one in this video.

My dad drives a 2020 2 Door Wrangler in Hellayella Clearcoat and I absolutely love it, once I get my license I'm definitely buying myself a Wrangler if it's for the right price of course

You still get the tiny 5” low res touchscreen on the RAM HD pickup trucks in base models; seems you should hear as well. That big screen looks ridiculous when contrasted with the manual crank windows. Also, push button start but you have to manually turn a key to get the door unlocked. Very odd. No auto on/off headlights either.

So the thing has push button start, but you still have to unlock the door manually with the physical key. What a stupid design, the whole point of push button start is to not have to worry about getting the key out.

I like the 12 inch screen in the base Wrangler because the base Bronco should be getting an upgrade soon to match this. Yay competition! And what… Jeeps with side curtain airbags!!! 🤯

Love a jeep that's as base as it can be. I have a tj and it's utilitarian no frills stature is really what is its charm. The prices of these new jl's, (particularly '22,'23) are just getting ridiculously out of hand. And to add for the color of the paint (for some reason white adds nothing to the base cost) and a non painted black plastic grill is just really a heartburn giver when signing on the dotted line.

$30-$33k would make more sense for it. Screen’s too big/fancy for a base model 2 door. Just a basic radio would do.

Jeep pricing is ridiculous in Canada! Bought a new 2019 JLU Sahara a little over 5 years ago. Went to the dealer a couple of weeks ago, priced out the same spec in a 2024 JLU Sahara, comes in nearly $20,000 more in just 5 years. Said no thanks and walked out. Won’t be buying another Jeep for these prices! We are now moving on to something different.

Seems like good value, but have to wonder about the durability of such a high hp/liter engine.

Headlight and fogs must be replaced immediately, or you will die. At this price point no power-locks and windows is a joke, but you still can get them if you order the base model with 2500$ half-doors. But everything else is still there.

Dirt Cheap? Not when you add in the price gouged destination charge of nearly $1,800. The color choices suck too. Bring back Hella Yella and Gecko Green. Will stick with used and let someone else eat the destination charge and depreciation.

So, yes lets go there. Nobody who is serious about off roading buys a 2 door. Next, nobody who is serious about off roading, keeps their Jeeps stock, ever. If they do, they are using it as a tow vehicle beind their 250 thousand dollar RV. Next, I know of a friend of mine who knows what it takes to remake the Jeep into the vehicle it should be. It takes lots of money! Piles of it. He started w a 2018 jlu sport, but after 5 years, and 120 thousand in upgrades to everything, the vehicle garners attention from everyone across cultural lines and ages. The factory really screwed the pooch when actually making wranglers. The only thing which mopar needs to provide, is the body on frame, not even the rolling stock. Forget it, and leave the engine bay empty too. We who know how to build a jeep will handle the rest. The last thing on his build list is Dynatrak axle kit w 44 up front and 60 out back which will give the rig 6000 ob tow capacity. They will come w arb lockers and 4.88 gears, 25 grand for the setup. So, there u have it...150 grand ontoppa the purchase price, total after its paid off will be 210 grand. Yall know nothing of the passion and determination real gear heads and the lengths we strive for to build the perfect off road unit.

Ben, how did that Base get a darker grill? Is it an option, because on the Jeep website the Sport appears with a body colored grill. Any idea?

It's funny that they gave it a push start button but without keyless entry and a keyfob that big it must be a hassle to get in the car.
