Had a 2014 diesel Sorento, traded it off at 107k kms for a 2019 gt line diesel. Going strong at 82k kms. Love them to bits ❤. Great car, no problems at all.
Your car reviews are almost the best on RU-vid. For me ride quality is one critical point when shopping for a car/suv vs a ute and you are the only channel that does a ride quality test that gives the information that I need. Your reviews are very good, practical and informative. I always run to your channel first to watch the review before heading to other channels. Thanks for your hard work and please continue doing it.
You guys are just one of the best channels for cars content on youtube, I really like your quality of explanation. Huge love from Saudi Arabia to you and your crew members 🤍🇸🇦.
Just a small point that a lot of people overlook paul regarding braking distance you mentioned an extra 5 m of space to pull up but what a lot of people do not understand is how fast the other vehicles are still going at that five meter mark
Thanks Paul for a great review. My wife has the 2022 GT-Line Diesel and we both love it, tempted to update but maybe in a couple of years. And yes please to do some light offroad comparisons with large SUV 🙂.
Ordered my Sorento 2024 GT model around 2 weeks ago, and it’s just got to the dealership, ready for pickup in a few days🙌🙌 Thanks for making the best car reviews on RU-vid!!
Just a tiny note (not sure if it's a dealbreaker) - I hope Paul sees this comment! I've had a Kia sportage reading a 6.2L/100km fuel consumption. However, I decided to test this theory and what I did was, since Kia cars was also able to show how much I've travelled SINCE refuelling, I then calculated the correct fuel consumption to be 7.0L/100km (I filled up at a fuel station to see how much Liters I used). While it's a minor difference and not a major issue, I'm just saying that Kia needs to work on the reliability of their tech readings. Would be cool for the team to perhaps (if interested) to comment on this for future videos or the Sorento itself! Thanks for reading!
Further explanation: Example - I go to a gas station and the Kia reading says it has managed to travel 500km since the time of last refuelling. - I manage to fill up 35L of fuel. By ratio, the car has travelled 500km and travelled 35L. In other words, 100km will consume 7L of fuel.
Interesting update. We have a 2016 Sorento, and we are in the process of replacing the turbo that is leaking oil badly. We discovered that when we had to replace the inlet hose which broke. I'm guessing the oil spray from the turbo weakened the plastic. This is pretty much the only major repair we've had to do other than replacing the handbrake harness. Our new puppy went under the car and chewed through that so I don't hold that against Kia. I'm actually thinking of replacing it with the new Sportage. Kia has definitely proved its reliability in our experience.
Hey Paul, love the channel! Can I ask why you don’t do the fuel economy test in standard conditions. Just seems every video there is a caveat/not showing its true economy “because we did our performance test earlier” etc? All the best mate
I just picked up my MY24 GT Line yesterday. It is a fantastic car in all respects. But the fact that you have to turn off the inccessant speed limit warning everytime you start the car is maddening. It could be easily solved with a software update. Such an inexplicable own goal from Kia. Don't regret the purchase though. Wonderful car.
Have the MAJOR transmission issues been resolved since all the recall issues on the 2021-22 models? My 2021 Sorento has just been in the workshop for a month waiting for parts and they haven't even repaired the transmission, just some booster pipe :(
I have been driving a 2023 model as a hire car and love it. Ordered a new model early Jan, already arrived in Melbourne, delivery scheduled for 12th of Feb.
Hi Paul, love this review - Thank you I’m considering getting the GT Line, but curious whether you’ve heard about a Night pack coming out, that would be have the black accents rather than the brushed aluminium?
been watching for a while now still dont know how the durometer works. could be a good idea to simply say higher is better/lower is better? as i think a lot of people might be wondering the same thing
@@alrightythen888 Why? I am watching many reviews, making shortlist of cars, and going for a test drive. Then deciding on which car to get. Do you do it somehow differently?
They put all this stuff into it and no separate climate zone for the back seats. That's just really weird. Surprised they've not really improved on the self-driving features from say the Optima SW. Apart from that, several very interesting features.
Nice car, but the prices are ridiculous. In EU are on par and over premium rivals. Whit a very bad service support and warranty so full of fine print it is practically useless.
Not bad. But those stuck on screens without any style or integration just looks stupid. For the money you pay, one would expect a better build in unit. Kia is not the only one to do this cheep looking setup.
It’s not really designed to test the camber. It’s more a look at how willing the car is to input enough steering torque to overcome the lane departure. We find most cars that do well there do well out on the open road.
Wonderful review as always Paul, looks like a great upgrade for me in the future for the family. Kia's doing great things; but cars in general are getting too darn expensive! Did it have a hidden rear wiper or no wiper at all?
Good morning (South African time), Paul. Thanks for the review. This is one of my favourite SUV. Now that you've done the KIA, I hope the new Santa Fe will follow soon!
Can't wait to see you hit millions of subs.. really love your content and how detailed it is. The hard work and time you put into it really shows. Much respect and prayers from UAE.
Judging by the comments I think I got lucky, here is Brisbane there where plenty in stock went to test drive one and bought the day after didn’t have to wait. Exactly the same as your review unit
Paul does a great job on these reviews. It was after watching his review of the Diesel MY23GT that gave me the final push to buy one. That was back in March last year and mine is coming in 3 weeks (its on a boat just of the coast of Batemans Bay on its way to Melb). So, a 12 month wait, and though there were times when I almost gave up, I couldn't find an SUV that was as good as the KIA Sorento. The V6 Diesel engine would make it perfect.
Whatever KIA is doing, they should keep with it. I love how classy and practical their cars are. For the driver assistance stuff, they could easily push out an update that adds a button to the home screen that can either be customized to perform a certain action or be predefined by the brand to disable all that bs. This is only if they can't have the car remember the last settings.
I have this on order since September and it is about to arrive very early Feb, and I was just waiting for you guys to put a video out on this, thanks a lot!!!
Good review!... very substantial , important things, like road noise, suspension etc covered... switch from waiting for Sportage GT to this .. expecting delivery next week
Sorento offers a great overall package! The only thing bugs me is that it’s lacking airbags for the third row, which was why I canceled my order last year. It’s a bummer that Kia still hasn’t fixed it!
Bought a 2023 mq4 the version before this and the driver seat feels so cramped even with pushing it all the way back and steering at max lift and tilt, tried all combinations. I am just 6ft and it's not easy getting in and out for a car of this size...which is a shame.
Hi Mate, Thank you for all your team and for your continues effort and for reviewing Kia Sorrento facelifted version. Do we have a timeline when the HEV and PHEV hybrids will be launched in Australia ?
Couldn't help but notice how the door slam test sounded hallow and cheap. Then I noticed that you(Paul) hadn't closed the window shut. I hope it sounds better with it closed.
No unfortunately. Hardware issue, software update for Apple Car play and Android Auto will never work in making older models have wireless functionality.
I work for Ryde Kia Pre Delivery in Sydney and we have a few of these in stock so if anyone in the Ryde area of Sydney is interested in getting one of these sooner we have a few available
Hi Paul, thanks to your fantastic review of the GT Line Sorento & help from your team, hooking is up with Midland Kia👍🏻 I will be taking one out for a test drive. Hopefully the waiting time isn’t too bad once ordered. Plenty of white ones for sale. Going for Aurora Black pearl i think🤔 Keep up the good work.
Someone needs to do something about ANCAP, they are ruining the new car industry, all those so called safety features that are default ON every time you start the car is a deal breaker for me (please continue to state if this is the case for each vehicle you review), some may say “get used to it) however for me that is not the option and may mean I’ll need to either keep current (Raptor) and perhaps by a next used older car instead of a new upgrade…shame that ANCAP can dictate what we MUST have,,,
Since the Sorento is a 5+2 SUV, it’ll be more thoughtful if KIA can make the boot light lit up when the doors are opened, instead of just the boot (Mazda CX-9 did). This is more practical when entering the 3rd row at places where light is compromised. Also, it would be great if KIA can extend the ambient light on the door to the 2nd row just like in the Carnival, & the airbags to cover the 3rd row. Very detailed review by the way. Cheers!
Hey guys, great video and very informative and entertaining! I am tossing up between getting the petrol or the diesel GT LINE. Ive been told if the car is being driven around city and surburbia then the diesel will pose issues with the particulate filter clogging up and needing to be replaced and serviced more often. Have you found this to be true?
Bought one after your review. Over all agree with your review, Paul. The speed warning is a nightmare for someone who is often a few ks over and that it needs to be switched off everytime you drive. The other issue is that the screen is a bit too focused/ angled towards the driver. I found it annoying as a passenger. Hopefully, they can up the power/torque on these engines or have a 6 cylinder turbo option for the more spirited driver. Other than that, great value for money for a family tourer.
We didn't get the diesel option in the USA. you can get an S trim with a 2.5 liter with an 8 speed true automatic transmission. The EX trim and higher get a 2.5 turbo with a double clutch. Which you want to stay away from. Maybe lease, but don't buy the turbo.
Hyundai announced a few years back that they were not going to develop any more ICE engines, so no V6 diesel. They do have a great straight 6 diesel in the US that would be awesome in this and the new ute. Still hoping they put a version of the Cruiser V6 in the new Prado.
Ordered my GT Line in Nov22, my (now MY24) car only arrived at the start of this month (Jan24). I still haven't received it yet due to transport issues. It's replacing my much loved 2019 model.
Medium suv tow test for 1.8tonne limit with cars like cx9 cx60 Santa Fe diesel and petrol Sorrento diesel and petrol vw Tiguan xc60 etc as there have been a lot of people out here in the desert I’ve seen towing caravans with Santa Fe’s 😂 so I was wondering how good they are
Been waiting for that exact car since July last year. They are saying about March before it arrives (just got my wifes Sportage after 12 months wait). How come I read that some are getting their cars much earlier. GGgrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!
