For me would be the Sportage 3 or GT line in 1.6turbo petrol with 6 speed manual gearbox, red or green exterior for GT line trim or white or dark penta metal colour for Sportage 3 , really is a stunning looking car, even base spec 2 looks great but no rear privacy glass in that trim but still plenty kit for the money 👌👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 great review cheers 👌👍😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

DCT Auto or the 6 speed auto? I’m thinking of the GT-Line S mild hybrid with DCT auto. But will test drive the 6 speed hybrid before deciding.

I've ordered a GT lineS AWD Petrol mild hybrid. Comes in under the crucial £40k. Had the test drive and my wife and I were smitten. Double panoramic sun roof makes the car so light and airy. Infotainment system works well with my iPhone too. Reliability and 7 year warranty make the choice of this car a no brainer. Looks great too.

Now picked up my mild hybrid AWD. Just completed 100 miles and loving it! I switched the tyres for Michelin All Weather at a cost of £500 from my local tyre dealer. Grips the road like glue and the ride on the 19" wheels is not at all harsh. Great purchase. 👍

Thanks for the review. I just ordered the GT line hybrid for my wife and she's so excited. After taking it for a test drive I was really impressed that a Kia came with so much inbuilt Tech and it feels so easy to interact with. My daughter wrote her 2015 Sportage diesel off in an accident a few weeks ago, so we gave her my wifes 2020 Kia Seltos and she was really happy with the "upgrade", leaving us to look at a new Kia for my wife. Clancy motor group in Bathurst, Australia have been so great in allowing us to test drive a few cars, and we should be getting the Sportage in about 4-6 weeks!

Great review. I’ve just ordered the GT-Line S AWD in green and black. Test drove the 2WD version at the dealer and loved it. I’ve been in Qashqais for the last 6 years but this new Sportage edged it this time round

I just ordered my second sportage (current is a 19 plate). Second car is GT Line S with AWD (as first which was 2.0 d) but new one is a self-charging hybrid. The test drive was in GT Line with the same 1.6 turbo engine and it's really nippy. Last one was the most reliable car I ever had. I leased the last one but am buying the new one. Should get it in December!

I placed an order for a GT Line 1.6 manual transmission. My Mrs wants a new kitchen and bathroom this year otherwise I would have paid extra for the higher spec GT Line S, I hope I don't regret my decision of letting my Mrs win that argument. But to be honest I have always preferred manual gearboxes and in the past I've realised that I have paid for things on higher spec cars that I never use or need. Apparently the waiting time is approx 16 weeks according to my dealer but I'll take that with a pinch of salt. I've gone for Dark Penta Metal as it looks class.

Test drove the Sportage earlier today and ordered the GT Line Hybrid in Dark Penta Metal colour. Currently got the Niro hybrid and this seemed like the logical move up. Now to wait 16 weeks for delivery :D

@@mattlawton5977 The GT Line, the S was out if my budget and the wife was happy with the lower spec as it's a car for her. The screen thing is a but misleading. The physical screens are the same, one long bit of plastic/screen across driver and passenger side. The only difference looks to be in the software, where in the GT Line the driver gets the speed dials with whatever other info it shows and that's it but on the S it fills the while screen with some nice graphic and you get the camera view when turning left and right, etc. I was also worried about this but it really doesn't look bad and imo it's better because the speed dials are more in the middle and not covered by the steering wheel.

Only disappointment I had was that the electric tailgate was only available on the top trim which was out of my price range. We are waiting for the delivery of the Sportage 1.6 T-GDI 48V 148 3 ISG DCT 22 and currently wishing my life away :D

I agree about the electric tailgate. Many new cars cheaper than this have electric tailgates- my current ceed sw 1st edition has, for example. - I would have to buy into 4 wheel drive etc to get what is now a common feature. Surely it should be on the 4 level, not just on the top level!

I didn't notice any difference and I think the main factor should be if your budget is able to include the PHEV then I would go for that for the electric only range that right now with high fuel prices is a big help!

Check out the difference between the two auto gearboxes. I read that the 6 speed auto is a little clunky? I have a Sportage 4th gen with DCT auto and it’s been really smooth 3 years with no issues even in heavy traffic. I’m going to test drive both in the new model before deciding.

Depending on budget makes a big difference. I would go for the highest trim possible and always automatic for better driving experience. So If your going for a petrol engine get the best trim and automatic. If you can stretch to it then a hybrid car will be more economical long term. And the plug-in hybrid will give you electric only range around town or if we have another fuel shortage in the UK.

Great review, I’ve just ordered a GT-Line S 2wd in Penta Grey with black roof after a long test drive today. Absolutely loved it. Better than my present 5 year old Tiguan. Shame the 4wd model takes it into the higher luxury tax bracket which I just wasn’t prepared to pay £300+ for 5-6 years.

Over £40k for full hybrid but under for mild. That's why I went for mild hybrid version. Not quite as nippy but saves on tax.

It is an extra £1,600 approx to go from FWD to AWD and I’d suggest going for AWD. Not necessarily because you need it (although you might) but more because in the scheme of a new car that’s a small amount to move to the top spec. In most weather conditions you won’t notice a difference but in slippery and winter conditions it will give you more and better grip and control.

@Car Oracle.. Don’t forget that the 4wd GT-Line S price will take you into the luxury tax bracket (over £40,000) if you are in the UK. That means that for years 2 to 6 you will pay an EXTRA £300+ annual Vehicle Excise Duty VED (Road Tax). That’s why I went for the 2wd which kept it under the limit. Such a shame that Kia could adjust their pricing to take this ridiculous taxation into account 🤨

They both look great. It's a hard choice to decide between them based on looks. The Tuscan starts at a slightly lower price but if you want a higher end spec thy are bang on in price and have similar engine options. I'd suggest driving both back to back to see which you prefer. As for colour I loved the blue but that is my favourite colour.

Hi, in Australia no hybrid, ordered long wheel base in Australia diesel GT-line AWD. Delivery a crazy 10 months. Is this the same situation in UK. The car comes with a full size spare wheel great for Australia.

Yes, all cars have long delivery times unless you find a car in stock and then it will probably be over list price. This is due to the silicon shortage for computer chips in everything and cars are particularly hard hit. Thanks!

We were told standard combustion engine models around 15 weeks and Hybrid 22. We ordered a GT line HEV petrol on 21st March and have been told it should be with the dealer around 19th September. Have since heard the wait is getting longer for new orders.

The Plug-in Hybrid needs to be charged by plugging it in to get the separate electric range. The standard Hybrid recharges the battery but doesn’t give you electric only range. In practice what that means is if you plugged the PHEV in every night (if you went 30 miles or less) then you would never use any petrol at all.

You have to look at the consumption information which you can see in the video. I would suggest that if you want the best range you want the plug-in hybrid.

for the three flavours: mild hybrid, hev and phev, i understood the mild hybrid can't provide electric miles. The PHEV can do about 43 miles. What about the HEV hybrid, how many miles can it go on electricity alone? Thanks for clarifying.

Just like the new Niro - the HEV does not give you the ability to choose when to use the electric miles. It will just turn off the engine when the vehicle has enough charge or based on the driving style and location. This means that the benefit of the HEV is that you get higher MPG than the mild-hybrid but no electric only range.

@@ivobaren1 They aren't hiding it because you don't get electric miles with the HEV. You only get electric miles with the PHEV around 40 apparently. I currently have a Toyota CHR HEV, its a similar set up. if I drive at 20 mph and a completely flat road I'd get around 1 mile if that. I only really get pure electric driving if I'm crawling around a carpark

I was looking to order but now torn between a GT Line and 3. ( Automatic ) Any idea how different the dash looks considering the GT line only has a 4.2” cluster display instead of 12.3”? Great reviews 👌

Thanks. I haven't seen the 2 or GT line trim however the GT Line does have the 12 inch main display and I am sure that it will look a bit funny as a result! However the driver display doesn't display all that much information compared to the main one. Having said that I would chose the 3 trim and get that better display!

100% get the GT line. For the life time of the car it isn’t too much more in terms of expense and has such a visual impact. Kia are expecting the GT Line and GT Line S to be the most popular and it will help with resell values later down the line. I test drove the GT Line and ended up purchasing the GT Line S. interior is excellent for this class, pretty much on par with Audi Q3 with some extra plastics

I have done quite a lot of research and was torn between GT Line (odd driver display) and 3 (different (worse?)) seats but gets the full digital dash and heated seats). The 3 trim worked out about £460 difference on a 3 year PCP. If you want to know what the GT Line driver display looks like please let me know. I have a GT Line HEV on order but still toying with changing it and those better screens may cost +£1,000...

I was interested in these 2 trims. Was pleased to see the online title that said 4 trims were being reviewed, yet only 2 were (GT Line S and 3). The GT Line is much better looking imo, but would like to see the smaller driver's screen.

I would recommend the hybrid; for a number of reasons. Your use less fuel, it will cost less to run and should there be any fuel shortages or it gets even more expensive you have hybrid range you can use on the plug in.

Still confused! What is the difference between the hybrid and mild hybrid?

The hybrid has an electric range you can drive without needing the engine. If it is plug-in then you can charge the battery separately. The mild-hybrid uses the electric motor to reduce strain on the engine and make it smoother and improve economy more than the standard petrol or diesel but it can't drive on electric alone.

@@markwinning4773 besides the plug in version there are two options. Mild hybrid with 48v battery or hybrid with larger battery. As Mark explained the 48v mild hybrid just supports the combustion engine. The hybrid can use battery power for 30 miles or so. It’s computer controlled.

Is it possible to get petrol hybrid Fwd in the 4 spec? I'm after this model for better mpg and don't need AWD. Looking at the configurator it doesn't say if it's AWD or FWD in this spec. The PDF brochure is also unclear and my dealer seems to think it's not available but the table at the beginning of the video shows it?

According to the press release the hybrid is FWD in the 4, 3 & GT-Line trims. The AWD option only is available on GT-Line S.

Do you know which kind of DCT Kia Sportage 2022 use, dry or wet? I hear that, dry DCT has over hear problem in heavy traffic

The transmission is different depending on the model. The mild-hybrid uses the 7 speed dual-clutch but the hybrids use a 6-speed automatic.

Dry 7DCT, except the HEV and PHEV witch have the automatic 6 speed convertisor version.

It is officially about 42.2 mpg. At 02:19 you can see the individual fuel consumption figures.

I didn’t test actual real world consumption as we had a few hours to film all the cars; for now I only have the manufacturer figures. Diesel will always be more efficient and give you better range than petrol and adding hybrid assistance will improve that.

I was keen to buy the GT line S mild hybrid but a definite answer from Kia - they don't do the 19" wheels on this spec but do on others. Very, very disappointed. Will probably go with the E-Pace.....

def the best version is with diesel engine and mild hybrid, you get a lot of torque from diesel and more comfortable ride. Petrol engines are too soft for 1.6 ton car

Where I live the diesel with automatic gearbox costs exactly the same as the 230hp hybrid. Still think that the diesel is the best one with almost 100hp less?

Diesel has more range; the question is do you drive far? do you worry about the cost of fuel? do you prefer a smoother petrol engine over diesel?

@@TechInTheCar I drive 30k km yearly, but I have changed my mind at the last moment, I've ordered 1.6 gdi petrol 150hp Sportage. It is 3000 eur lower price, more quiet ride, and the service is 20% cheaper. With diesel engine i would get even in 5 years. What is your opinion?

If you check the UK road tax for the petrol/hybrid and diesel/hybrid you will see its high. I thought the idea for a car to have an electric petrol or electric diesel was to reduce emissions. My 2015 Hyundai Tuscon 2ltr 136 bhp diesel is much lower in road tax and thus is more environmentally friendly. Why dont you car testers talk about road tax for these cars?

It is a good point - because they cost more they have more road tax but the savings would probably balance out still in your favour with extra efficiency.

You have to pay an extra £355 a year if you have a car or motorhome with a ‘list price’ (the published price before any discounts) of more than £40,000. You do not have to pay this if you have a zero emission vehicle. The top trim cars would be subject to this but CO 2 emissions is key in the initial factor in the tax cost.

The most stupidy confusing car model range ever! Eg pay more for 3 spec and lose nicer suede seats and free red colour to awful brown colour. But gain extra 12.3 display. Went for lease deal, 1.6t mild hybrid auto, no AWD, gt-line. Only £5 per month more than cheapest auto, 48v diesel with no electric motor.

As always video has NEVER shown underneath the car it always the way it looks and typical cosmetics. No information about breaking system, suspension or exhaust systems. Those qualities aren showing in any video except external and internal cosmetics. I suggest you 👉NEXT time to show suspension, barking systems and exhaust system. Those are even more important than just external and internal appearance!!❤️🕊️🌍👌👍
