Tried the royalty free thing last year. Too much work for zero return, at least for me. I’m sticking to my libraries who actually communicate with me personally this year. Want to continue to build those relationships and hopefully make more.

That's really great to hear about your royalties! I've had a bunch of stuff placed and am just waiting on royalties while I continue writing, almost exclusively for one library who are great. It's great to hear it's still such a viable, successful thing as long as you can keep cranking out the tracks. Here's to a great 2024! Oh, and I totally agree. I think sometimes people get too hung up on the specifics of which library, contracts, on and on. Getting your songwriting skills and mixing and mastering up is key. I've done a bit of Motion Array stuff as well, had some success with staff picks. Other tracks that didn't hit that were a giant waste of my time. There seems to be less saturation in the sound design aspect of it, but music is really tough, and I don't think I'm going to spend much time writing music for them.

Sounds like a great plan for 2024 Steve! I’ve been focussing a lot on my RU-vid channel recently, but having a full time job, it means I’ve not had as much time for songwriting and licensing and really missing just writing music. Gonna try to get more done this year!

what it feels to me is like the whole market is getting so saturated and in such a fast pace that in a couple of years people who were making "thousands of dollars per month" will be making less than a thousand a year... honestly this feels apocalyptic

Thanks for watching! I believe that if they're under the non exclusive contract, and if they're free from content ID then it shouldn't be a problem. If Artlist offers a buyout contract, you won't be able sign it if you'r music has been released anywhere.

@@Steven_Beddall thank you for allowing me to elaborate. I’ve not have my submissions been approved yet. They have been pending since May. Granted, of course it depends on the quality of the music as you mention. How has your experience been regarding the submission approval period?
