The best video review I’ve seen, not only for the Lexus GX for for any car in general. You’re straight to the point but also very informative. Finished watching and I immediately subscribed. Keep up the good work.
18:32 this is kinda why I like these new modern safety features on my daily drivers. I was driving home a few weeks ago and some kids looked like they were going to jump into the street and run in front of the car (they didn’t. They only stepped onto the curb) but my car detected it (Kia K5) and flashed the warning in the dash. It is insane that these pedestrian/vehicle detection systems have moved from being reactive to proactive as if another human were driving
I'm glad to see you uploading more, Chris. I really like your videos because of how transparent and humane you are, kind of like milesperhr as well. Nice video!
❤ thank you. I have never been a fan of replacing a V8 with V6 "unnaturally aspirated" engines. Just because it makes the same or more horsepower doesn't make it the same!
also just spent a week with the GX550 (premium +) and had a LOT of the same feelings, mate! REALLY liked this thing, but I would get the overtrail simply to get rid of the third row
The tonneau cover hits the seatbelts bc you don’t have them locked into the wall where that clip holder is. The seatbelt metal hooks right in. Same as my 460.
I just don't understand those Sideview mirrors. There's that large gap between the door and where they start and they should just take up that entire area and be much more useful and look better at the same time.
I like the hard buttons in the Grand Highlander, the 2024 GHs interior is hard to beat. I also didn't want the intrusive system that watches my eyes the Hybrid max had that stuff, no brainer to NOT get that but I still have a 360 cam and undercarriage cam.
I currently have a 2018 GX premium. I love the new design, and actually like the base premium wheels the best. Only thing I would want is a 360° camera. Does the premium not have that as an option? Come on Toyota, even a crappy Nissan Sentra has that feature.
speaking of the 23 premium model, really enjoying and loving it as it's the last v8 engine that may be a memory from Lexus one day. From a dodge Durango R/t...... The differences are seen....more of an upgrade apart from performance, and hp especially with 2023 model being very ahead to the prior models from Lexus which took long on to change. Meanwhile, the 24 model is a great vehicle in line to the modern techs , as an investment i am going to enjoy the v8 as it last.
I just dont understand the engine choice from Lexus if the mpg still suffers like that. 13.4 mpg for that is wild for a midsize suv. My Armada on 35s gets 16mpg and 400hp. On the other hand, the design of the GX is a 10/10
@@ro0ster648lmao if it’s not about MPG, they should’ve just kept the V8 in it. cars don’t emit like they used to, they’ve gotten so much cleaner over the yrs.
Im always impressed by Toyota and Lexus designs, this car is definitely on my "to own" list thanks to your amazing review! Great work as always! If you messed around with it, how has the carplay experience been in this GX?
I was playing around with the idea of trading in my is500 for a gx overtrail but hearing the door rattle, seeing the hood vibrations, and finding out that the eye tracking thing can’t be turned off is really turning me off of trading in my is500 😢😢
It would be so much nicer if they didn't try to fit third row seats and made the second row have more room like they do in trucks. Not everyone wants to fit 7 people in a car.
You criticizing those truck owners is dumb... one could question why you need an suv, or why a lexus suv. Everyone likes what they like, lets be respectful.
I remember the days 64K+ was the LUXURY TOP TRIM................................... and that was at MSRP before dealers would actually discount cars.....
Why can't they add more cargo room when third row seats are up? It would be nice if it had 20 cubic feet. If I'm spending this much $$$$, all trims should have EKDSS. Anyway, thinking about getting 2025 Premium+ when it comes out
Be careful with this new V6 twin turbo, I see a lot of dealers have the 2022+ Tundras lined up for engine warranty repairs for turbo failure and oil pressure issues.
those Tundras were assembled in America, this GX550 is assembled in Japan... that's the difference ❤ This V35A-FTS is literally almost 8 years old now and debuted on the Lexus LS in 2017. All issues are at the American assembly plants and they've since been corrected.
@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD It’s a failed design flaw, not a geographical assembly problem. The 2007-2011 Camry was built both in Japan and America yet all models worldwide had the same oil burning issue.
@@upperleftnorthwest4278agreed, this is always a talking point I see few people mentioning. Pro’s and cons I suppose, kdss is great handling but man it was a pain for lifting
Ehh.. I have an 18 gx460.. Premium, which is basically the base.. I love the interior of mine.. It's brown leather seats, a white headliner, and a brown and bushed aluminum dashboard.. with chrome rings on the buttons, the interior is still a really nice place to be.. this is a sea of black plastic and it just makes it look cheap.
21:55 nice jeremy clarkson reference haha. You should try and fit a top gear gag in each video, like "let's not get bogged down" or using an/a incorrectly
Something to note, the GX has always shared its chassis with the Land Cruiser Prado it’s not a new thing :p figured I’d mention this given the wording my have others believe otherwise
Maybe it is a regional thing, but i have never heard of "vernors". And when did small drinks at McD's start costing $1.37???? But, i appreciate you showing us some real life scenarios of driving this truck. I need to know how it fits through a drive thru way more than how it climbs up a mountain or runs down a riverbed. Let me go click Like and Subscribe!
Is it just me or was the hood flexing pretty good at 17:10 ish? I know it's about as aerodynamic as a brick, so I would imagine there'd be _SOME_ flex, but not that much.
If this were a Land Rover video, commenters would be tripping over themselves to say “shoulda bought a lexus” in response to the electronic issues mentioned as well as the door rattle.
This is pre production car so rattles are expected as the trim is removed / re-added multiple times to tune things around. A production car ideally never has it's trims removed multiple times.
Very cool car but when configurating the car, it kinda annoys me than you can only choose pre-made packages. Like why cant I have the base model with the big sound system? Pretty stupid if you ask me
When I moved to Michigan from Western Pa I had no idea what Vernors was. 💯 not ginger ale in my mind and I don’t like it at all. It’s like the cream soda of ginger ale. Also, I didn’t know that McDonalds on Carpenter had that. Great video!
