Ya i was honestly just doing it for fun and didn’t expect much in viewership! Now I’m going to do a couple more with some concerns/complaints I have soon! Overall love the vehicle don’t get me wrong! Just little touches on it would make the finished product 10000% an amazing overall package
Some people might realize that if you order the cool box you’re giving up the main interior storage space for it. Other people might not realize it and just complain about it when they notice it later.
@@wjgreer well you might be right, but you can’t actually order from Lexus. Their initial roll out packages are standard. They came with all the features, HUD, roof rack, rock rails, upgraded sound system, and yes the cool box. They come as is, not really “an option”
@@wjgreer this is my vehicle…while it’s listed as an “option” I’m saying the initial roll out of vehicles come with all the options “standard” as there is no ordering or changing of packages. They released these initial overtrail+ models with all “options” as standard.
How is the sound system? My old 08 GX had the levinson sound and it was all I needed to be happy. Oh and do you tow with it? The tow rating on these sounds impressive
@@southfla9000 hey the system sadly is leaving wanting a little more. The sound is crisp and clear but doesn’t have a ton of depth and not enough bass. Hope that makes sense but my buddy in his gsf said the system sounded way better. Still overall great system but for the cost wish it gave more. Haven’t towed yet and probably won’t as I have two trucks available to use!
I was ready to trade in my current suv and by the gx 550 luxury. During the test drive I noticed small vibrations coming while driving. Like micro vibrations that I felt in my back and neck. Very very strange. Anyone else notice it ?
I’m dealing with this now with case manager at Lexus on my overtrail plus. Unfortunately Lexus is saying that’s just how the Overtrails ride. They’ve initially refused to have their field technician evaluate it. That could change, because I’m waiting on my dealer to get in more Overtrails so I can drive them to see if different than mine. There are tons of owners online saying theirs ride smooth as butter. Coming from a 4Runner with AT tires so this is not a case of a car owner moving to BOF. At this point I’m actually hoping mine is a lemon so I can be able to have/keep a GX. Also, the lack of storage inside is a very real concern. But that’s something that we can all live with and find alternative solutions.
@@nahiammastay6524 yes memory, massage and all were standard on my package! Heating and cooled. They say it’s an option you can select but they were all standard from initial release this way
@@BJ-sb9rk thanks! It’s not standard. It’s an option which I really wanted but as someone else mentioned, they only rolled out the earth tan color with the black top for actual sales release all other colors came color matched for initial rollout. I was really wanting the black top option which is and additional 1300-1500 cost. This came in and they said it could be several months before they got incognito with the blacktop option so I couldn’t wait!
if you have iphone 14plus and up (same size), wireless charger do not charge large size phone, doesnt fit properly. you require to constantly adjust phone position. no sunglasses holder near rearview mirror.
Oooo good adds! I actually was going to do a new video this weekend! I haven’t used the wireless charger much since with a case they don’t charge well…also haven’t used the cool box as it only fits tiny bottles. I would rather have the storage!
I had delamination on both window decals of the 2nd row passenger windows, rear hatch foam seal came out, brake squeaking when reversing in the morning, annoyed that the auto function for the side mirrors aren't rigged to the ignition but the locks instead.
@@michaelmelnick1652 man I’m 6’5 and never have been able to fit comfortable in Lexus Toyota really until this one. I was always leaning the seat all the way back but then reaching forward for the steering wheel! As for comparing to the land cruiser I haven’t been in one yet!
All these comments from haters who can’t afford one 🤣🤣. Great video bro. I was torn between this or the current 24 4Runner. Still haven’t decided yet. Thanks for the review!
24 runner looks really really tough! This GX is probably going to have a nicer interior and features atleast with the overtrail+ package. If you weren’t getting that I would almost think the runner is a better option and save money! But I have to see interior and packages offered!
Ok let me fix this for ya there are a lot of us WHO DON'T LIKE THE NEW GX and WE CAN AFFORD TO BUT ONE WHEN EVER WE WANT I for one have had two a 2021 Premium and a 2023 LUXURY PAID CASH FOR BOTH and if I wanted a Jeep I COULD BUY THE 2024 IT'S the reason I bought my 2023 so didn't say haters who can't afford it you don't know what we got.
@@JAXEStube I have a 2025 on order and still waiting for the verdict. The engines have had main bearing issues causing oil starvation seizing engines in tundra's and other models of Lexus. An oil change after 1000 miles can help with that but not always. Usually happens around 20,000 miles. Lots on the internet about it, look up V35A main bearing issues
@@bp_e8719 I’ll check it out. If any issue I fully anticipate Lexus to make right and if not I will get rid of the vehicle and never return. I’ve heard only good things about Lexus warranty so hoping for the best and that any issues prior to this release would have been addressed!
@@JAXEStubeToyotas answer is to replace the lower end...at the dealership...many believe that is risky due to the level of expertise at the dealer. and that full engine replacement is the only real fix because once the shavings enter the system nearly the whole engine is impacted
@@postskeetclarity so far I haven’t seen these getting hit with that bearing issue, the gx might have avoided that or been caught prior? Have you seen anything??
Its crazy that these vehicles have the same problem as cars that cost half as much. Begs the question. What are you paying for if not attention to details ?
Yep! They come with rails, and a lot of the overtrail packages come with the removable roof rack attached. I think I’m going to take it off soon. I originally hated how it looked but it has really grown on me and it adds a little off-road flair to make it look aggressive! But the mileage is more desirable right now
The cool box is a waste of an upgrade. You cut your storage in half and all it does is blow AC air into it. Does not keep anything cold, my 2007 dodge caliber had it lololol
@@davidcantor293 I agree! It wasn’t really a selective option, they rolled out the gx overtrail+ in these exact configs as far as I’ve seen for the initial release. I thought it would be great, I’ve used it once or twice just to try it out. Have never needed it and really wish I had the extra space!
@@dk6027 hey I mean someone has to complain or else you will think you’re getting the perfect vehicle, but I will say, they are very easy to overlook them
The play in the glovebox door / release is far more likely to be designed like that rather than poor quality. This is so that if you get it full of dirt, mud, cheese that your kid has mashed into the opening somehow, it still works. I appreciate this piece of design. If this is the kind of thing that irritates you then I think you need to re-evaluate what defines quality. Adjust the bumpstops for the door so it doesn't move when pushed and move on with your life.
Bumpstops? On a glove box? I think I’m misunderstanding you or you don’t know the glove box on this vehicle. Play in the open button and the door itself is definitely not a feature, it’s a flaw. I respect your opinion but find it to be incorrect based on my experience with the glove box itself
So you’re telling me that a loose button and loose door are design features? Strange that Lexus does not incorporate this “feature” on any other models. Also odd that BMW, Mercedes, or Toyota aren’t gracing us with this wonderful design feature in any of their lineup. Hate to break it to you, but that’s just flimsy design. For $95k out the door, owners deserve WAY better!
I am sorry to say it, but is seems like your nit picking. I am sure if u can afford a gx550 overtrail, plus you can afford to buy a cover. It is an off road focused vehicle . Love the video can wait to get mine.
I’m for sure nit picking! But it’s nearly 100k vehicle. Every Mercedes/BMW and other luxury brands come with, so I would expect lexus to throw it in…but you’re right I’m just going to have to pick one up myself. You’re going to love it!!! Hope you get yours asap!
@JAXEStube mine is a two year waiting list lol Canada is super slow, lol. don't worry, I will be nit-picking too when I am there picking up mine lol. I sometimes enjoy watching salespeople trying to figure out an awesome to something I point out, lol. I when to dodge someone stole the spare tire lol.. it she didn't have a answer and I asked the engine size she got it wrong lol. Are you in the U.S?
@@URSilentGames oh wow 2 years! Ya the dealers in Washington are struggling to get models to sell, especially the overtrail+ they only have received 5, 2 for their showroom and 3 to sell I believe, something around those numbers, they’re really slow to roll out! Bummer you have to wait I hope they speed it up for you all, but I also like having a vehicle that no one else has on the road! Most people haven’t even seen or know about it, it’s a pretty good feeling. Ya salesmen are pretty funny, if you love a vehicle and watch all the content you can on them you usually know way more than they will ever. I talked my salesman through all the packages, options and specs of it! Knew all I could before they even showed up at the dealer. I had about a 6 month reservation at the dealer before they launched
Haha man I didn’t even realize I say it so much until this video! I don’t in normal conversations, I think it’s a place filler while I figure my words out and I don’t usually record myself! I deserve to get that called out for sure
Love Toyota/Lexus, but you can't even sell that truck to Carvana or CarMax, they wont take any Toyota/ Lexus V6 turbo for 2024. They're shunned trucks for ever. Buy an old model GX 460!
@@williamgalicia6219 haven’t seen or heard this? Interesting, I can tell you right now there is no easy way to get these in general, they’re sold before they come in the lot
@@JAXEStube the reason you can't get these is because the land cruisers and GX 550 are having issues along with the other V6 twin turbos...thats why you barely have any LX, GX, land Cruisers on the lots, its not because their flying off the lot, its because their barely any coming in and the ones that arrive, their is always a consumer who does not fully know what's going on. I myself almost bought one, owning 2 lexus trucks and 3 Toyotas, I test drove GX 550 and the interior is very poor, the hood shakes at 60 MPH. Carvana or CarMax have serious restrictions on buying any of these preowned, they dont want them.. fix the issues make it true solid Toyota product, like the ones in the past, and buyers will come. For now, most of us already know... buyer beware! Dont buy 2024 model.
@@williamgalicia6219 I’ve yet to see a single recall or issue with the gx engine, and I just did another search and can’t find anything. Can you provide any info on this? They had port holds for issues with their transportation protection damaging the paint on vehicles. That’s it as far as I can say for certain.
@@JAXEStube do a RU-vid search and you will so many videos of Toyota engine issues 2024, including the GX and the land cruisers, LX, Tundras. My own sales person, who I have known for over 20 years said dont buy... thats all the proof I need. Everyone knows they are poorly made engines... even Toyota can strike out and strike out they did. maybe 2025 will be better, 2024 is a complete wipe out. Not only the engines, I test drove one, that a GM was driving, it has very poor interior feel, hood vibrates at 60 MPH... it's not a good truck, sad but true.
@@williamgalicia6219 not saying you’re lying but I’ve done extensive searching for this and just did again. I’m not seeing any recall or any issues with the gx engine anywhere. Not a video of an owner stating this, not a forum posts stating this, reached out to Lexus and not a single engine issue reported or anything from Lexus on any trouble or recalls. If you can provide a single GX engine issue I would love to see where you keep adamantly stating there is this info.
