2024 Mazda CX-5 2.5 High Review - The Second-Best Option |

The Mazda CX-5 remains one of the most impressive C-segment SUVs on the market despite being long in the tooth, and the 2024 update ensures that. But while we champion the 2.2-litre turbodiesel for its excellent blend of performance and frugality, fans of petrol-powered mills haven't been left out because it's not the 2.5-litre turbo that's the real gem - it's the 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated mill that comes in a very close second in the CX-5 range.

Good review. But I think your camera lens is a bit cloudy today. And when you are reviewing from inside the car, I find your camera mounted quite low down. Perhaps it could be positioned a little higher for better view of the interior.

I’ve had the diesel 2.2 for nearly 12 years since new. I’m on the third engine (2 replaced free by Mazda) and it too has a blown head gasket. All 3 engines went between 130-140,000 kilometres, on the engine. The car has 421,000 km on it now. The gear scheduling has always wanted to jump up a gear too early, causing the engine to labor, requiring manual intervention at times. Contrary to what I originally suspected, the DPF has worked flawlessly. I’ve loved the car however, and I’m currently awaiting delivery of a 2.5 T…It won’t be as frugal on fuel as the diesel, which has been awesome.

Its good to know that Mazda replaces even when the 2nd one blows. I am just on my second engine. Hopefully it will be trouble free for next 100k plus. Did you do all your servicing at Mazda? Just wondering what needs to be done to ensure Mazda continuously covers our diesel engjnes. Its a real shame the engine is a flawed design because the car is such a joy to drive.

12 litres per km is very good for a 2.5L SUV

Putting the fuel consumption aside and speaking purely from price point, i think if one is ready to buy the 2.5 NA, it makes more sense to just stretch a little bit more to go for the 2.5T. Just my 2 cents worth as my school of thought is "there is no such thing as too much power". But i agree it looks striking in red. Great review as usual.

i see the 2.5T has alot of issues regarding cracked blocks in the cx5 and the cx8...even in local forums..the 2.5NA is the perfect choice..the 2.0 is kinda breathless IMO
@SP-Steel
@SP-Steel 2 месяца назад
@@nabillarif cracked block? Wow. But the power difference between the 2.5NA and turbo suggests that Mazda has probably installed a relatively low pressure turbocharger. But anyway thanks for the heads-up buddy.

Mazda+diesel=engine blown
@MalaysianMotoring
@MalaysianMotoring 2 месяца назад
We've heard about that. But there's no data to suggest that issue with local models, with the majority of BERMAZ's own fleet using the 2.2 SkyActiv-D engine with no issues despite the varying mileages and heavy use.

Very easy to find in the Facebook group regarding blown engine of the diesel cx5,, also the turbo variant,, what this guying saying is well founded

2.2d diesel engines dying is a real thing in Malaysia. No myth. But Mazda does replace them for free. Mine died after 115km.
