We take our first drive in the 2024 Mazda CX-5 Turbo in the Signature Trim level. Is the CX-5 still competitive and when will Mazda do a redesign? And should you get the CX-5 or the CX-50? And what trim should get, Signature, Premium, or Carbon?

What are your thoughts and questions about the CX-5? Many say Mazda needs a redesign? If so, why? How about that spanking new CX-50? We just wrapped up a week with the 2024 Turbo. This is the first of 3 videos. A full review vid is coming along with highway performance and fuel economy. Today we talk about the future of the CX-5, is it still competitive, and what Turbo trim level is the best buy.

If it's still selling, it's probably because it's what people wants. If I was looking for an SUV that's probably the CX-5 I'd get. Simple, good looking, power and torque, reliability. I would get the Signature. I'm jealous the CX-5 and CX-50 have 256HP instead of 250 in the 3 Turbo 😅

It’s mainly the automotive journalist community who harp on its age. They are tired of it and want something new so fans of the industry glom on to that narrative. The CX-50 is considered new and fresh but it has the same drive trains and tech as the 5 and even has a less sophisticated rear suspension. And it’s really hard to say the 50’s interior is better. What both really need is a more fuel efficient turbo. One thing I like about BMW and Mercedes is their 2.0 liter turbos. The CX-5 is long overdue for a drivetrain update but that also applies to the fresh and new 50. Thanks as always for the commentary and support!

I love this blue color, I wish the interior was a lighter brown instead of the Caturra Brown Nappa leather interior. It would be perfect with the Terracotta leather interior from the CX-50 or the tan leather from the CX-90

Thanks for watching. Agree it’s a great blue. We have a CX-9 in that blue and really like it. We’ll have our full review of this specific CX-5 this weekend and that will cover the interior in more detail.

Thanks , I like your review, however , you totally forgot to mention the 2 USB plugs in the front cubby AND the 2 in the back. In fact the 2 in the front are USB-3 but the ones in the rear ( behind the heated seat controls ) are only USB 2 and are ONLY for charging. I am anxiously waiting for my Signature CX5 to arrive in May.

That is true. The full review, which comes out later this week, mentions all those USBs. We may have talked about them, I pretty sure we talked about the rear armrest, but that part fell on the cutting room floor. Thanks for watching and providing the usb info. I have the 2024 CX-5 Turbo Premium in Eternal Blue Mica. I love it. I think it's the best trim and I preferred it over the Signature. I like the black leather with red stitching. I don't need the 360 camera. I still have rear cross traffic alert, ventilated seats, folding mirrors and heads up display. The wireless charger does over heat my android phone. It only charges for 15 minutes or so before it stops charging or the phone warns me that it is getting too hot. I am experimenting with turning off fast charging or not running Android Auto to see if it still overheats. I like the wireless Android Auto too much though. I am wondering if a different newer phone will also overheat. I have a Samsung Galaxy S10e in an Otterbox Commuter case.

Congrats on you Mazda. The premium is all anyone need, so great choice. Wireless chargers in most cars are hit or miss. Maybe a different phone will do better. We have iPhones and they are also inconsistent. Sometimes the case messes it up but most newer cases are wireless charger friendly. Thanks for watching and enjoy your CX-5
