I bought a 2024 CX-50 Select which is the base model a few months ago and I absolutely love it. I have a Toyota Highlander and a Subaru Forester and Outback and I love the Mazda the most. The other cars are really good cars but in my opinion the Mazda looks and drives the best.

We didn't drive a Highlander but did drive an Outback. I liked the Outback but did not care for the CVT and the Mazda handles much better. Thanks for the comment!

I agree with all of your comments about the CX50 100%! I’ve had my CX 50 2023 for 14 months now and I’ve put over 16,000 miles on it. I have the nonturbo, and I have it in the beautiful soul red crystal! Also too, I was kind of cross-shopping the CX 50 with the Lexus NX because I came from a Lexus RX before, and to get the features on the premium plus trim that I have on my CX 50, it would cost all the way up to the luxury package on the NX, which is about $12,000 more, I believe! Needless to say, I am very happy with my CX 50!❤️

We really love the soul red crystal colour and almost went with that colour. We have a red Kia Sedona so we went with somethin a little different.

Appreciate the ownership perspective, particularly the cross-comparison with the Outback. Thanks; and nice hiking location!

I purchased our new Mazda this past year. I was so surprised by the discovery that Mazda had really upped their game in the automotive market. I was fully prepared to buy a Subaru, Toyota, Lexus, Honda or even Ford. However, the quality of Mazda was just surprising -- and the power in the engine was just amazing (compared with its competitors). I love the non-CVT transmission paired with the power and surprisingly good AWD system of Mazda.

I think Mazda is doing a great job of creating their own identity as a brand.

Great review. I currently own a 2014 Mazda6 GT, bought it new, It is a great car, I have had zero problems with it, just regular maintenance. It is time for something new and I'm sticking with Mazda, I have been interested in a CX50 and it was nice to hear your review as you also own the same car I have and how they compare.

We are still holding on to our Mazda 6GT. If you are looking for an SUV / CUV I would drive both the CX5 and the CX50. They are very similiar.

It's unbelievable how much Mazda gives all these features compared to Honda. Was thinking of getting HRV/ZRV, but with a bit more money, I can get a GT model with all these perks❤

It is a very well equipped car once you get into the GT trim. I was shopping the CX50 against BMWs and Infinitys and it competes well if you factor in the price difference.

I dropped into the local dealer to look at the CX-90 again as I cancelled my April 16 allocation on a new 2024 Tacoma as my wife hated the comfort and space in the Tacoma test drive model. She really likes the Highlander, but I found the handling and ride just so plain so I hoped to look at the CX-70 which is not expected until next month. The CX-90 is basically the same and I really liked how much better it felt driving. My wife thought it looks too big for us empty nesters and she saw and really liked the smaller white CX-50 GT they had on the floor with orange interior. We took one out for a test drive and we loved it and couldn't believe all the features you get and how well the CX-50 handled and rode. I have had two Mazda pickups, three Miatas and an RX-7 over the years and have not really had the Mazda driving experience in a daily driver. I still have my 2009 Miata GT PRHT and think the CX-50 could give me a sporty drive for the months that the Miata is in storage. Here's my question... my wife's only complaint was the firmness of the front seats... even after the month you've had the CX-50, do the seats get any softer?
@midlifeexplorer160
@midlifeexplorer160 7 месяцев назад
Hi - the front seats are quite firm and have not changed much over the first month. We have been on a couple of long drives and I don't mind them. The CX5 is very similiar and has softer seats if that is a concern. It has the same driving dynamics as the CX50.

@midlifeexplorer160 Thanks for the reply! We love the look of the CX-50. We took the vehicle out again today for an hour highway and city driving and the wife was okay with the seat comfort after a few adjustments. We are buying next week and I appreciate your feedback!

Nice video of the car I have had since dec23 (so mines 2023) and I have the terracotta interior. Many people comment on the zircon color so nice pick there. I have never used premium gas (higher price here in BC). After 13000 miles I’m averaging 10.0ltrs I had the cx5 before this but non turbo and love the turbo. Also you didn’t mention the paddles I use them sometimes to slow down for lights. Be mindful of the adaptive cruise sometimes I’ve had false readings on corners.
@midlifeexplorer160
@midlifeexplorer160 7 месяцев назад
Thanks for the feedback. Not a big fan of the paddles, but the shifting is quicker than the stick if you use the paddled. My summer car is a standard so feels a little closer to my 6 speed shifting with the stick.

Currently have the 2018 cx5. W/O turbo. They started offering the Turbo in 19 I believe. Going to be looking to update in the next year or two and want the turbo. Will be considering the CX-50 and a new CX5. We have become Mazda people because we have had so much luck with them and they are fun to drive. We owned the 2009 cx9 and then the 2018 cx5. Usual maintenance is all we have done
@midlifeexplorer160
@midlifeexplorer160 7 месяцев назад
Definitely test drive both with the Turbo 2.5L. The extra power is nice to have but they are a little thirsty on gas. I would be happy in both the CX5 and CX50. I put two kayaks on the roof and appreciate the extra room in the back, which is why we went with the CX50.

I watched the entire video and I get bored easily and often skip. I greatly apreaciate The context of which you provided, and all of the comments on the vehicle. I’m currently debating upgrading for my 2020 Mazda 3GT AWD to the either the CX 50 or the CX five and having difficulty deciding between the two. The CX five is slightly faster, and get slightly better fuel economy, and it’s a bit better with us driving dynamics, but definitely slightly less capable in some mild Off Roading situation’s. I also like that the CX 50 turbo can tow 3500 pounds which is at the top of its category Your Mazda six looks like it’s in pristine condition for its age. I can tell that you really take care of your vehicles! Mazda focusses a lot of attention on build quality and they sculpt their interior so well that it doesn’t just have a bunch of nice materials thrown in there, but they’re all very thought out and cohesive.

Thanks for watching the video and your comments. I would have a hard time giving up a 2020 Mazda 3GT (nice car). CX5 and CX50 are both good choices. I would definitely go with the turbo.

Buy regular Japanese cx5 over usa cx50. Turbo engine has delusion some gasoline go to oil
@midlifeexplorer160
@midlifeexplorer160 5 месяцев назад
@@yournightmare9999 I really like the CX5 also but the CX50 has more room inside and has a lower roof line so I can load my kayaks. The car has a 5 year drivetrain warranty so any issues (if the come up) are under warranty. I think the turbo issues on the Mazda engines were with the older Mazda CX-7. The CX5 and CX50 share the same powertrain so we went with the CX50 as it has more space. Thanks for the comment and for watching the video.

@midlifeexplorer160 I have cx9 and 2 cx5. And I was sitting in cx 90 50 30 so I know how much space there is and what kind of car they are. That's why I tell to stay with cx5 non turbo is best option
@midlifeexplorer160
@midlifeexplorer160 5 месяцев назад
@@yournightmare9999 I understand where you are coming from. We currently also onw a Mazda 3 and Mazda 6. Both have the 2.5 regular aspirated engine and the only drawback to both cars is they need a little more power. The 2.5 turbo provides that. Fingers crossed we don't have any issues in 6 or 7 years but we definitely like to CX 50 better.

Hi! A very interesting and detailed review of this wonderful car! I am the owner of a Mazda myself! But I have a Mazda 3. Soon I will have a family and I'm looking the same way in the direction of Mazda! I don't want to transfer from her to anything! Toyota has fallen in my eyes. The latest generation of Hondas are also so-so. Nissan is certainly interesting, but the handling is also not clear. And the German auto industry is too capricious and expensive in content. Therefore, only Mazda!
@OrdinaryG33K-SF
@OrdinaryG33K-SF 7 месяцев назад
Fellow Mazda 3 owner here, also considering a CX-5 or CX-50 (or a few others). That’s interesting that you say that Toyota has fallen in your eyes. How so? I’m genuinely interested.

@@OrdinaryG33K-SF Because I am a true petrolhead! I couldn't get used to the idea that Toyota had forgotten how to make normal competitive modern engines. And she began to create sports cars based on a common platform with BMW! The new Supra is BMW Z4! Z4 is a great car from Germany! I really like Z 4! But this BMW is about something else! The second point, Toyota GT 86 GR 86 is essentially a Subaru with an opposed engine! And finally Toyota decided to get rid of the flagship rear-wheel drive sedans such as the Toyota Mark 2 and Toyota Crown. Grave grave If I were the founder of the Toyota Toyota company, I would get up from the grave and grab the throat of this stupid scion who now runs the company and drag him into the grave with the words, what are you doing, you bastard???? You're a disgrace to the great Japanese brand!

I may also have to ask, the fuel efficiency, what is your experience with that until this point and has it met your expectations?
@midlifeexplorer160
@midlifeexplorer160 3 дня назад
We have over 20,000 km on the CX50 now. We are averaging 9.5 liters per 100 km which is approximately 25 mpg. It is about what we expected although not as good as our Mazda 6 GT. Our CX50 has the 2.5 L turbo, the Mazda 6 has the non turbo. It is 2 l/100 km better on gas. We do appreciate the extra power of the turbo but if gas mileage is a priority, go with the non turbo. The 2.5 non turbo is still a good engine. Our 2017 Mazda has over 140,000 km on it and we have had zero issues.
