If Dillingham and Topic are there at 4 and the Spurs like both of them, I think there’s a good chance they would take a wing at 4. Detroit, Charlotte, and Portland are most likely not taking either of them, and it is unlikely a team would trade up in what seems like a bad draft to get either of them. If they fell in love with Buzelis, Castle, or Holland, I think Spurs take one of them at 4 in this scenario.
@@Kilokhi Topic cant shoot right now. I cant say he will or wont be able shoot. I can say with certainty that Dillingham will always be a liability defensively
@@sportsandstuff99 his defense doesn’t matter, we have one of the best defenders in the league and every team has a weak point in defense like the mavs kyrie, timber wolves mike conley and plus rob and wemby offense would be electric and must watch tv is what spurs need instead topic who cant create his own shot and one dimensional
@@Kilokhi just say you don’t watch the games. Conley and Kyrie arent liabilities. They just happen to be the worst on the team so they don’t guard the ball. There’s a difference.
@@sportsandstuff99 thats exactly what they are liabilities on defense if they are the worst defenders on the court do to size? Thats exactly how robs going to be but their offense and playmaking make up for it. Nobody wants to watch a taller ricky rubio to play pg next to wemby that would be boring. Rob has a higher upside as a scorer and can playmake and could add way more energy to the spurs
@@elitetv1735 I think you should watch more of his highlights. He can do everything except shoot good right now but Amen wasn’t a good shooter either but has drastically improved since being drafted. The only reason he will probably not go number 2 now is because of injury but I don’t want Topic unless he is 100% healthy.
@@Mdksupreme1It doubles the odds that at least one of them pans out as your starting point guard of the future. That’s what the Clippers did in the 2018 draft they drafted two guards back-to-back (they didn’t draft Shai but they traded their pick and assets for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and then they drafted Jerome Robinson) with the idea that it increases your chances of getting a star guard. It worked. In the first season you could see that Shai had potential to be a good player and you could immediately see that Jerome Robinson was a bust. Obviously the Clippers messed up in the end but that’s business as usual for that franchise. Personally I think it’s a good idea to draft multiple players that play the same position, people are saying the Spurs need a PG why only give yourself 1 chance to get your guy when you can increase you odds especially when you have 2 relatively high picks? I get the arguments that they can just sign a proven guard in free agency though which isn’t a bad idea but most people like to believe these prospects have infinite potential, until they don’t, so why not roll the dice?
Trade Avdija and Kuzma while they have value and go for top pick in next draft, no joke. Develop the kids and you have a chance to build contender in 5 year. If not you’re first round fodder at best.
i think the nuggets should get Yves Missi to play backup center for jokic and play Julian Strawther/Hunter Tyson more minutes for their shooting, that might be the best play for them as a fan
If Spurs get Castle at 8 thats a steal he has a lot of Jimmy Butler in his game on both ends I think and if his shooting comes along he has the upside to be the best player in this class that’s why I have him 2nd on my big board. I know Jimmy isn’t a point guard per se but he’s averaged 5-7 assists per game most of his career and Castle is way better than him at age 19. I know that’s a high end outcome but even if he’s 75% of Jimmy that’s worth a top 5 pick in this class imo
I think Tyler smith is really slept on despite him not shooting well at the combine he still bullied Taylor Hendricks and jarace walker while playing in the gleague and that says a lot
Any combination of Castle and Dillingham/Risacher could really fill some holes on the Spurs rotation (Reliable 3pt shooters, perimeter defense, scoring, ball handling). Even Clingan could log 23-25 minutes a game for the Spurs as a rotation player.
After taking sometime and looking at what the Rockets need Reed Sheppard is the perfect pick. I didn’t like Reed at first , but after looking at his videos he is the player to pick at 3.
I think Risacher would be a better fit because he doesn’t need the ball in his hands like several other players on our team need. I’d be happy with Reed also though. I have him at 4 on my big board behind Sarr, Risacher and Topic.
Reed or Risacher is the only two picks that truly make sense for Houston. W/ Sarr being the conscience #1 at this point, puts Houston in a really great position to get either or.
For the pistons it’s not about ivey more specifically a non shooter alongside Duren and Ausar who are both non shooters and can only score around the rim. We’d be adding a guy who can only score around the rim alongside them. When Cade needs to be surrounded with shooting.
If the pick isn’t traded… I would bet my life savings that they take Matas unless something goes catastrophically wrong & Risacher falls. He’s literally the only player worth a pick for this team @ 5 on upside alone. If the shot does fall eventually he’s a 6’10 floor spacer with good athleticism, ball handling, & even some decent playmaking.
@@19DAY94 I have a feeling they’ll take Zachary but who knows, spurs have a chance at picking Dillingham at 4 and rockets could take Clingan at 3, this draft has a deep pool of talent imo
As a Hornets fan, I would be concerned if we draft Clingan just because it means that we had to use a high draft pick on something we should've already had in place. I don't think the Hornets go center but I wouldn't be surprised as you said because the new regime may not view Mark as the center of the future.
Bro, stick to ur guns! After doing some research on teams and needs/rumoer.. I think this a lot better!! Hawks- Sarr Wizards- Topić Rockets - Shepard Spurs- Risacher Pistons - Dalton K Hornets - Clingan Blazers - Holland Spurs - Rob D Memphis - Buzelis Jazz - castle
I think you're wrong about the Kings losing Monk. They're going to get creative and find a way to keep him. Tall three and D guy who can create their own shot would be the best way to go.
@@WembysCastleidk man. Topic getting injured too often and Dillingham is one of the best shooters and dribblers in this class. He is a lil short but Kentucky guards r a pretty safe bet.
@@eriknelson4150 if we draft a Guard. Castle or Topic. But In my humble opinion. I believe we need to double dip on French Prospects. Risacher at 4 Tidjane at 8
@@eriknelson4150 Double dip on French Prospects opens the door for Keldon Johnson to be more expendable in trade talks for a PG. RISACHER AND TIDJANE WOULD OPEN THE FLOOR UP FOR WEMBY AND WHATEVER PG WE TRADE FOR PNRS ETC
That’s funny. Because as a spurs fan, taking Dillingham at 4 sounds about as bad as possible! There’s no way he goes 5, 6, or 7 so if you want him at the least draft him 8
I think the wizards going point guard houston’s gonna go small Foward from France 4 Point guard Serbia 5 big man UConn 6 castle 7 Tennessee small forward 8 rod hollend 9 Colorado Williams 10 duke McCain
Are the Wizards thinking of adding another SF? Coulibaly, Avdija, Kuzma, Kispert. I know, drafting for best player available and not for fit... but still!
Hornets fan here. I’m ok with clingan pick BUT I really like Dalton kinecth. Is there any chance and with what team/teams could hornets trade pick 6/42 for pick 10-12/20-25 and select kinecth/edey?
I would not say Portland is loaded with size. Timelord might or not be around, or not injured. We have Alton, who knows how long he will be around for, or what his season is like and then we have a back up, but he was mostly shooting 3's last season, not really at the rim, or mid range, or lobs.
Castle and Dilingham would be crazy for us. However I don’t think he makes it past hornets/blazers. I’d take him at 4. He will grow and he’s got best perimeter defense in draft. Then either dilly or topic will fall to 8
I think wemby has changed the nba again and people aren’t realizing it. Curry came in and changed it and no one realized until they made their playoff run. Wemby is tall as hell and has crazy ability to handle the ball and really move with it, the nba has never seen anything close to him. I think that the league is gonna change again where teams are going to need more bigs and forwards more like the 80s and 90s. Especially ones who can defend. I know Chet and wemby are small in physical stature and build then guys like embiid and jokic and get bullied right now but I think thier ceilings are much much higher because the base level of skill is so much larger. I’m a blazer fan so im used to losing and not a wemby/spurs fan, just someone who can see things as they are without my emotions and personal wants effecting my assessment. Wembys potential is crazy, Pop is the best coach he could have gone to and played it incredibly smart by limiting his minutes which I think he may do next year as well because the risk of injury to a guy like wemby is super high and until he is a little more mature and grown into his body he could suffer ankle, foot, and knee injuries that could seriously effect his career. He was the leagues best defender and was able to guard the perimeter very well for a center and someone his size, the ability to guard 1-5 effectively, it’s unreal and his reach allows him to block shots most can’t. His ability to really shoot makes him a huge problem because at his size the fade away seems to be a guaranteed bucket and unstoppable when he gets better. Chet is great all around although I don’t think he is as good as wemby but he is also able to defend, dribble, and shoot at a high level at his higher, he got incredibly lucky and was sent to a team who develops talent really well and had a good team already, even without Chet I think they would have done pretty well this year but he helped them into the second round right off the bat.
I respect you listening to feedback from Wizards fans about the Clingan pick. Still would rather have Castle than Zach but the analysis and fit there is something I could get behind if it happened in real life. Much respect bro and great vid as always.
Dilli and castle would be great but my dream is Sheppard and castle and then trade a couple seconds and devontae Graham for a mid 1st pick and get salaun.
Might be a hot take but I’m starting to like the idea of Houston trading down for Dalton Knecht. Everything you said for the grizzlies taking him matches Houston
As a Magic fan, I love the Ajay "reminds me of Jamal Murray" Mitchell pick. What are your thoughts on Tyler Kolek? If you look at his stats and the competition he went against, it is pretty impressive. He reminds me of a modern-day John Stockton.
glad you loved the Ajay Mitchell pick! He's a baller. Kolek to me seems to be a more reliable Cam Payne. Better playmaking feel, more reliable spot up shooter but some of the same problems. Burst isn't there, reliant on touch (floaters) and not a ton of scoring gravity. Still think there is a role in the league for him though!
Did I miss it or did you just have Zachary R. (Not gonna butcher his name) falling out of the first round completely? I went pick by pick and don't recall him being one of them.
stephon castle already said he doesnt want to play for teams who would not play him as pg, the position he wants. if spurs pick dillingham i dont think stephon would want to play in with the spurs. also, castle and sochan at your forwards are paint cloggers
What about the 2nd round? My Warriors only have a 2nd round pick. I think they will draft either Antonio Reeves out of UK or Mark Sears out of Bama. Kerr loves small guards, and both have potential to be microwave scorers off the bench, which the Warriors need.
@@Josue-411won’t need a great defensive guard with Wemby behind you. Imagine how much better Wemby will be on offense with Rob getting him the ball in unstoppable position.
@@robertteague6342 Wemby is incredible on defense, but he can’t guard 5 people. This year with Wemby we were still one of the worst defensive teams in the league. The Spurs need shooting and defense.
Love this for the Spurs! I feel like the likely scenario would be Castle at 4 and Dilly at 8, but nonetheless, I feel better and better as time goes about these 2 picks.
🫡 Bro, your intro jingle is GOAT now. It sets the tone for your content. Zacc to my Wiz is awesome. They sent Bilal to scout and talk to him. Btw, Bilal was just re-measured last week to now being 6'9" with 7'3" reach. It would be 6'6" Poole Pg, Bilal at 6'9" Sg, Zacc 6'9" sf and likely Deni 6'9" pf and 7'0" Tristan c all developing together. 🫡
As a blazers fan I would love Stephon Castle or Ron holland at 7, but I’d be happy with Cody or matas as well. I doubt Zac falls to 7 but I’d be very happy to get him too
Spurs need to select risacher at #4 and Stephon castle at #8. Then sign CP3 to mentor Castle. Castle has the highest upside from Shepard, dilly, and topic.
Love Dillingham to the Spurs. Dillingham can be Trae Young-lite or Tony Parker with a deadly 3-ball. Castle could slide right in and be their Derrick White 2.0 and replace a lot of what they lost when they dealt both White and DJ. However I don’t see them taking BOTH Dillingham and Castle. If they take one, they’ll take a wing or an upside swing (Salaun) with the 8th pick if they keep it. I wouldn’t touch Topic with a 20-foot ladder. I don’t care if he becomes a borderline All-Star. IMO, de doesn’t fit THIS version of the Spurs and anyone who really paid close attention to the Spurs this year can see why. The way the Spurs play now is lots of ball movement and almost everyone has the green-light to bring the ball up the floor -- Sochan, Keldon, Vassell, Branham, Champagnie, Wesley and of course Tre Jones. Only one pure point among them. One of the reasons I think they pushed the Sochan experiment is Pop didn’t want to move Sochan to the bench and sacrifice Sochan’s defense or Keldon’s scoring, since Keldon can be such a negative on that side of the ball. Ultimately, they had to do it anyway, sticking with Sochan's defense. One of the more neglected storylines in all of the NBA this past season even with the Wemby spotlight is how Pop quietly benched Keldon, their leading scorer from last year (and best player) to accommodate the Wemby/Sochan pairing. And Keldon did it mostly without complaint. Prior to Wemby’s arrival, Pop ran this offense because they didn’t have a primary on-ball creator or scorer that could get their shot consistently. But Wemby LOVES bringing the ball up the floor. It’s like their howitzer weapon when Wemby brings the ball up, makes a read or goes for a quick launch into a sidestep 3. I don’t see that trend decreasing, I see it increasing as Wemby grows even more comfortable handling the ball against NBA defenses and orchestrating. That means from a PG slot, what the Spurs ideally want is size, shooting and defensive versatility. That screams Stephon Castle who can play with or without the ball. Or in Dillingham’s case, his role would be to back up Tre Jones, similar to how he came off on Kentucky, just a solid scoring punch off the bench. In the Spurs system, Dillingham likely would be groomed into more of a Lou Williams-type -- at least to start. That benefits the Spurs and I think is advantageous vs. acquiring a Trae Young-type who is already an established on-ball creator in the Topic vein who NEEDS the ball in his hands and would have to be asked to sacrifice a lot at the outset. Reed Sheppard could also excel in the Spurs system as just being a competent ball-handler, gravity guy, with a fast trigger on the perimeter. Jeff Hornaceck-lite and Pop loves his high I.Q., coachable guys. Which leads me back to Topic. If he’s not the on-ball creator, WHAT IS HE? Topic doesn’t move off the ball well. He doesn’t spread the floor. He doesn’t play solid defense, he’s super-young and learning the hardest position in the league on a team where the head coach is notoriously hard on point guards. And Topic has injury concerns and what looks like a balky knee that could buckle any moment. You look at his latest NON-CONTACT injury and it gives you flashbacks to Greg Oden. You look up Oden’s injury and Topic’s and they look nearly identical. Maybe last week it was a sprain. 8 months from now it’s an ACL. Picking up a guy like Topic in the lottery, at least in the top-5 range where Topic is mocked, only to have him spend all that time in the G-League doesn’t make a lot of sense for the Spurs who are looking to be better than last year in the brutal West. At 8 possibly. But even then, if they're going for another PG type, I'd rather take a flyer on Ajay Mitchell or even AJ Johnson. Will they be better players than Topic eventually? Maybe, maybe not. But will they fit the Spurs system better as it continues to evolve around Victor Wembanyama? Absolutely.
Us Blazers fans had a good look @ KWare while playing @ Oregon. Low motor big... Meh on his upside. Mainly BC I don't know of a skill set he's elite in. With his athletic profile you'd think that @ the very least he'd be an elite shot blocker. I like Yves Missi or DaRin Holmes with the 14th pick.
As a grizzlies fan I’ll take Knecht but I’m trading smart to Houston for clingon if possible or trading him for brook Lopez or one of Cleveland’s center
I think if the spurs draft a PG it ends up being castle. I can see them liking the size and offensive potential. I do hope we trade for a PG instead. There’s too much talent available on the market and we have the assets to get them without putting a dent in our pocket.
I’m reading an article right now from the Houston Chronicle that list Topic as number 3 on their likely draft choice. Let me read the title of this article and you can read it yourself.
Rob > Topic. As you said 2024 NBA is not played like 2014 NBA, true PG who can't shoot don't work anymore. Rob is not perfect because of his frame (height, weight) but I like this pick way more than a raw N.Topic (with his 26% from 3)
