I like the points Fellers brings up. However, it is so frustratingly difficult to listen to him on his way to get there. He starts one sentence, then pauses to reflect before beginning and interrupting himself with two or three more sentences. During one long pause, I thought my screen froze up.
1:30:00 Pts came from Vito 1st-24…Shapiro 3rd-21 3rd…Cardenas 4th- 16, it was Cardenas who AA’d not Ramirez. Ramirez was BR for 3rd straight year. Foca also was blood round. Ungar, Fernandes, and Fernandez were round of 24. Cornella DNW (knee). Baker 0-2. So 61 of Cornell’s 72.5 came from those 3 AAs. Shapiro went 6-1, with 2 pins, 2 majors and a tech. He actually scored the 10th most team pts of anyone out scoring 1 champ and all runner ups. Him and O’Toole tied for 10th most.
I should probably wait to comment until the end of the video. You guys mentioned Iowa State team chemistry, and VT. True, I see it also with Ohio State. Have you send the back stage celebration of Sasso and Tom Ryan with Mendez after he won. All three mentioned are fiery and heart on your sleeve times. Very appealing. I have not seen that with Iowa lately. Iowa looked banged up. Not finishing shots. “Grit it out” eventually wears you out. By nationals they all seem to be worn out. I agree that Messenbrick wrestles like old Iowa, keep going and break your opponent. I wonder what will happen with them next year if they have 3 Ferraris. Is it true Hamiti is in the transfer portal? Lastly thanks for the positive comments on Cayden. Good to support for other you tubers in our community.
I have seen Penn State fans congratulate Mendez for how he wrestled all the way through. I've seen comments about Carr and Mitch. That second stalling in the 2nd period was bs. I am glad D.C was announcing. They called him for stalling as he was shooting. So was the one at the beginning of the 3rd. Carr was working to ride. For those saying only one because he stalled, what match were you watching. Carr got two takedowns, and controlled him on top. ( I am a fan of good wrestling and Penn State, but those hating on Carr are off base) Two points Mitch should not have gotten for stalling. Oddly enough that last 30 seconds Carr did not get hit for stalling. That is when he was defending the takedown, but stalling would have been warranted. Great match. The was experience over youth.
The Shapiro take by Feller…At the point that Shapiro went out..He was winning 3-0 and it was half way through second period. He was in bottom position. He had just stood up 6 times and been either mat returned, ran out of bounds by rear standing position, or tossed on his head the one time. At no point did Cardenas attempt a turn or do anything other than hang on him. Cardenas has already been warned for doing nothing in the 1st period from the neutral position. Meyer going out did nothing at all to help him. If anything it gave the officials amnesia in regards to how badly Cardenas had stalled from the top position as when Meyer came back, they allowed Cardenas to hang on him and run out of bounds every stand up for another half a period. Cardenas did his best tie breaker 30 second top position hang for two full minutes and he didn’t get called for stalling the entire period i believe because Meyer left and came back. I think if he stays on and the officials saw Meyer come up to his feet 11 consecutive times rather than 6x …protocol, then 5x…they call stalling on Cardenas, point awarded to Shapiro making it 4-0 then Cardenas is forced to let him go for the escapee so he doesn’t get hit again. I don’t think at any point in that match did “Cardenas come at him hard.”. Even the winning takedown in the 3rd was a result of the officials warning Meyer for stalling just 15 seconds after being on their feet after Cardenas for escape. he felt he had to take shots in order to not get hit for stalling again which would have tied the match up with riding time (another point that Cardenas had because he was able to hang on him for a period). Meyer took rapid fire bad shots, and Cardenas spun around for the easy defensive takedown. Fortunately Meyer figured it out for 3rd and beat his ass.
Is Younger coming back? Do you think Beau and Carter will come back? I can see Beau to get one more shot at a championship. It will be tougher when Alverez is back. (Unless Alverez goes 149) Carter for a 5th time. I think he will decide after Olympics trials.
“If everyone’s on a pedestal then no one’s on a pedestal” lol what?! Psu can redshirt most of the guys Kasak won’t have any problem getting four years in. Plus beau is saying he’s leaving so Kasak will go 141 even tho I think he looks big as shit for 149 lol
The stalls were a problem because some matches might action and no stall calls. Then you have matches like Carr vs Mm and Cstar vs osu freshman. They were called quick as hell. Other matches that wasn’t happening.
AMAZING how often even the most well read, knowledgeable and entertaining wrestling experts completely forget about Pat Smith. Peetty much in ANY human endeavor from conquering the known world to (insert your opinion on the most banal human achievement ever here) folks remember who did what first. #OkStsGreatest
You don’t think home teams in football, basketball and baseball don’t get the calls? It happens all the time. I just happened last night in the Iowa womens game. Wvu had to beat the Hawkeyes and the refs.
Iowa fans must want some new blood in the program at least. Especially in assistant coaches. They are not happy when you look at Iowa’s assistants compared to PSU
Nah brooks is an underhook guy. Always has been. Dude wrestles like an Iranian. He didn’t just say well since Trent is known as an underhook guy so I’m going to beat him with his own gsme lol. Agree with Fellers. Cstar had those 174 guys scared. They would not go after him. Only the first two wrestlers threw anything at him.
David and Mitch have completely opposite methods of wrestling and it was on full view Saturday night. Mitch is relentless, he keeps the pace. David is methodical and his pace builds up. Although, David did attack more than Mitch did and somehow got hit with stalling points with one happening on a reattack.
The ref decided to hit Carr when mitch attacked, as ref raised his hand to indicate the stall carr reattacked. It really wasn't a bad call with how mitch pressed forward.
I thought Carr stalled much more in the O’toole match than against MM. for the entire first period and half the second he was riding the oob line. Then he turned it on. I still think O’Toole is the better folk style wrestler. MM isn’t nearly as talented as both Carr and O’toole. Even Hamiti. But his gas tank is a problem especially with the refs throwing quick stalls.
Where the hell did this “give people flowers” come from? Can’t stand it lol. Give someone credit has turned into give them their flowers. Lol what happened because I obviously missed how this started lol
this is why I never listen to 'couch commentators'. 2 hours 18 minutes. Seriously? Want listeners? -> Get organized, collect your thoughts, have something to say. Then shut up
Penn State is bad for college wrestling. They're killing the sport. When you have 6 guys in the finals, that's a ratings killer. People are walking away to watch something else. When you BUY all of the best wrestlers, you deserve no respect. PENN STATE SUCKS!!!
The same guy who ref’d the mesenbrink final was the guy who made the WORST call EVER earlier this year with Kilkeary vs Davis in Rec hall. I was surprised he was out there for That after the NCAA issued that statement after that dual. Why put this ref in a Penn state final?
Mt. Rushmore of IA St. wrestling.... 1. Cael Sanderson 2. Nate Carr 3. Dan Gable 4. Pick 'em, there's a bucket full to choose from. And it's one HELL of a list where Coach Danny Mack Gable is Bronze. JUST sayin.👍💪🌪
To AGAIN state the terribly obvious, dominant team bias has been in place for years. It benefited Ok. St. back before 90% of the readers of this were born. It benefited Iowa in the 80s and 90s. It benefits PSU now. Human nature is drawn towards an appreciation (however insignificant) to excellence. ALL three of these dynasties were/are excellent. They did NOT need the subconscious benefits they received in multiple occasions to reach the heights they achieved. NOR can it be denied, except by those with blind loyalty, that they ALL received them.
Random question… what do you think of ranking people ahead of people that made the podium this year? I got in an argument with Kozak from flowrestling. His rankings are wack. Imo top 8 should be the top 8 on the podium. Curious if I’m the only one haha
