Think of the trees as "conifers" rather than "evergreens" because you are headed into the North Cascades. There are larches (aka tamaracks) in North Cascades which are DECIDUOUS conifers that turn a brilliant gold in fall before their needles fall off for the winter. It's a bit early for much color, but the larches are starting to lighten a little (almost lime colored) and I saw a few over the weekend with touches of color. Glad you got a great break and your "kit" filled out.
