Hey, I’ve been playing guitar for over 12 years and this pedal board gives me tons of options for playing live and for writing music. I record with it, I record without it. I’ve never had people say I sound awful with it. If you are more of a straight into the amp guy, awesome. I love going straight in the amp. BUT, there are genres of music that use effects (and require multiple effects per gig). There’s more to guitar than playing blues licks into a cranked tweed deluxe (which is still awesome). I happen to love how much the guitar can be used to fill out a mix with reverb, delay, modulation, octave, whatever. You could use a Helix and it would be half the price and more flexible. You could have just the amp and all the effects be added afterward. But this is what works for me in the contexts of music that I play in.
@@ZachariahConnor Well, I never said the tone was "awful". I said your petal board is doing you and your tone a disservice. Next, I'm not an "amp and guitar guy". I use petals. But, not as the source of my tone. My tone involves 4 things: 1) hands; 2) pickups; 3) amp; and 4) guitar. I use petals as tools to decorate the tone, not generate it. What I'm talking about is the concept of "guitars with effects", not "effects with guitars". 12 years ago, I began teaching Audio Production at our local state college. I teach students your age to become professional audio engineers. Consider this my good deed for the day. 😉
Great. I think your original comment was rude, vague, and not helpful. Why not explain more why you don’t like the effects? Why not phrase your comment like: “I see you use a lot of effects, how does that work in the context of a mix?” As someone who has also taught at a college level for several years, I find asking questions is much more productive way of having discourse. Feel free to just not watch if it bothers you so much.
