I cannot overstate how big an impact Paul Sunderland has on the success of these broadcasts, and this league. If he had, to, he could go non-stop, SOLO, calling a game for 2 1/2 hrs straight. SO knowledgable, SO sharp and quick on his feet, SO eloquent, SUCH a pleasant voice and energy, GREAT sense of humor and wit... He and Chris Marlowe are the forefathers of volleyball anouncing, the LEGENDS. Viewers/listeners are getting EDUCATED on how to watch/think-about/understand volleyball. Few other announcers can be so accurate and clear about what a 'bad play' is and what a 'good play' is... and he's not afraid to call both out -- it's really helpful for the avg/new viewer have such a knowlegable guide.
Would recommend that the male announcer study the rosters ahead of time. Don’t know how many times I heard “Taylor Raskie” and lots of talk about Karson Bacon when he either meant Morgan Lewis or Ronika Stone.
