Paul wrote that "We who are alive shall be caught up with them in the air" But Paul is dead, he is not alive, so he misinterpreted what Jesus had taught, like us, he wanted to be alive when Jesus returns, but it appears that he misunderstood, as do we, Therefore we need to go study some more, particularly, who gives life and what His character is truly all about. We know that two things in the earthly sanctuary(a representation of the heavenly and God's character), are certain, the Law and the mercy seat.
