"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words." 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17. If the dead in Jesus will rise first, the second ressurrection can be only the ressurrection of the wicked ones. There are only two classes when Jesus come back, the saved ones, and the lost ones Matthew 25:31-46

This week's lesson could easily have taken up six full weeks and the quarter's lesson could easily have taken up one full year, in my opinion. However, we understand time restraints and what we were able to study was good. Praise the Lord for it. I suggest that the Great Controversy book should continue to be read and the character studies at the beginning should be given especial study as they are very instructive for preparation for Heaven. The reformers were not perfect in their lives or doctrine, but God used them mightily to turn their followers in a new direction and showered them with new light as they went forward in obedience to His leading.

I appreciate the audio. Unfortunately, however, I think the use of the NIV doesn’t always give the meaning and/or word use that the lesson author is putting forth. If a more modern translation is desired, maybe a different version should be used in those cases.

The Bible does not say the Wicked dead are raised, it say that the rest of the dead are raised, we cannot assume it is wicked people because that makes God out to be a monster. The rest of the dead, could be more than likely the uncountable multitude, ,those who were not given authority to judge, who possibly, did not die as martyrs. Also take note that 1000 years on earth, is only one day in Heaven!

@@user-dq4ir2vw8w Absolutely correct, When Jesus returns the second time, there are so many who had died for their faith and it is apparent that they are given authority to be part of the heavenly jury, not only for humans, but fallen angels as well. But many have died after a good easy life, they have never had to be a Daniel or one of his friends. They have not had to walk in the shoes of others and so they cannot relate to what others went through and failed.

The one thousand years give plenty of time for ALL of God's friends to get to know Him better and to ask any questions they have about how God has done things; not only martyrs need to be involved in this important time. After all, God wants to make sure that sin never rises again.
