Hahaha nothing matters! But yay to mapping constellations. Its always so fun to look back on. And so admire the poetry reading intention. Poetry is v hot, I wanna be a poetry girlie so bad 😂 I feel like making that explicit intention is half the battle. Excited to see your thoughts on those as the year goes on (also semi-joining you on that no buy. Def a buy less, at minimum😂)

i feel like vague and nebulous are the best ways to set reading goals tbh!! i think too many expectations can hinder the experience in a lot of ways. love the idea of a poem a day too!!

Highly recommend "Hot, Cold, Heavy, Light" for the art book goal! It's collected criticism, great writing, and a fun introduction to artists I hadn't heard of before.

love the idea of reading a poem a day -- that's a more organized version of how I got back into reading more poetry again around 2-3 years ago. poetry foundation is a very useful place. I subscribed to their mag, which I like a lot overall, but which I am not recommending to you bc you are NOT BUYING THINGS :)

How far have you read into that? Is it dense or not engaging? I watched @travelthroughstory's video about that book. Yeah, it's in my TBR pile.

i wasn't that hooked with it but tbf i dont think i gave it enough time. but, i think i was still a little too stressed w/ big books because it took me forever to finish solenoid. @@budinurdin3475

If you’re looking for poetry collections to read, perhaps try the late English writer, Philip Larkin (1922-1985), who wrote poems such as this: A Study of Reading Habits When getting my nose in a book Cured most things short of school, It was worth ruining my eyes To know I could still keep cool, And deal out the old right hook To dirty dogs twice my size. Later, with inch-thick specs, Evil was just my lark: Me and my cloak and fangs Had ripping times in the dark. The women I clubbed with sex! I broke them up like meringues. Don’t read much now: the dude Who lets the girl down before The hero arrives, the chap Who’s yellow and keeps the store, Seem far too familiar. Get stewed: Books are a load of crap.

@@kiranreader The above work is similar to other Larkin poems written from the point of view of an older solitary man, disappointed in love and defeated by life. Yet others have a more mellow, almost romantic feel, such as “An Arundel Tomb”, which describes a visitor to an English cathedral contemplating the 600-year-old tomb of a knight and his lady, showing the couple in statuary form reclining side-by-side and holding hands across the centuries. The poem ends with the line: “What will survive of us is love.”
