Thanks David. I am 53 and am very interested in this field. You, occupy the web, and all your other guests have been a wealth of information and encouragement.
Hi, I am 48 and not sure if I can change professions, but, if the future is a cashless society and all assets are tokenized, by knowing cybersecurity / hacking, learning these things is a way to protect your future self ( in retirement ) I hope this comment is not deleted.
@@nacionaldelacapital It doesn't matter how old you are, if you have the passion for it and enjoy the learning process then go for it. I knew a guy who was near retirement (52yo), he wasn't looking forward to retirement and wanted to do something when he did retire that he enjoyed. He ended up spending the next 3 years learning how to code website's and then because he knew he needed to have security for his websites he went on to get his Cyber Security qualifications. He is now 58, working for a cyber sec company and loving it. He told me once that if he knew about web dev and cyber sec years before he would have done it then. Also, learning cyber security is even more useful when you get older as scammer and other nefarious people target older people so if you learn cyber sec you have the advantage. Hope this helps.
Thanks! I know is not enough for everything you have done for encourage me, to take another path from warehouse associate to the cyber security field. Happy New Year 🎉🎉2024 to everyone, but in special to David Bombal and O.T.W. Since I discovered this channel I've been encouraging to starting my path into the Cyber Security field! Every advice from David, Neal Bridges and O.T.W. are diamonds. Thanks very much.
Thank you! I appreciate your support! All the best for your journey. Don't worry about giving me more money - use that money to buy books and get certs to change your life.
The first line there hit me like a brick. My web development course was exactly like that... I was begging for help but nobody would give me examples to play with and the exam at the end was a hand written exam!
Thanks David. I'm studing in CyberSecurity but in our university can't tech us about cybersecurity and they hadn't provied roadmap. I take most of information about coures from both of you.
Sir David Bombal. I am a 23 yo wishing to change careers to cybersecurity with zero IT background. What would you recommend for me to do to get a job as a pentester?🙏
Hi David and OTW! Just discovered your videos at the end of 2023, wanting to learn more about cybersecurity. I'm really enjoying and learning from your content, can't wait to see what's coming in 2024! :) New subscriber from Argentina!
Happy 2024 to both of you David and OTW! You're the best team on the web for teaching IT to peoples, and thank you soo much for that! What I hope to see from you in 2024 is, CompTIA Security+ course on Udemy or a series of videos with OTW about it! Videos about Digital forensics with OTW! And a guide on what to look for if I’m in the market to buy a budget router for my home network, and everything that that I should and can do with it to have the best I can get from it, like VPN, adblocker, log file and everything’s else that I don’t know! I'm always looking and waiting to see you new video!
Mac is build on kernel such many embedded systems. Without knowing networking would be not possible to send "hello world" to anyone so Cisco for me is golden 🙂
Million thanks for providing such a full roadmap for me to start my journey in cybersecurity! But could you please do me a favour? It would be of great help if you could make a list of all steps of the roadmap, and under each step, please list the resources (Certificates, Courses, RU-vid videos, etc.) needed to complete each step. Because I found that many steps in the video do not provide any resources for us to follow, including “ Virtualisation”, “TCPDump”, “Docker”, “Wireless technology”, “Bash & Python Scripting”, “Database”, “Web apps”, “Cryptography” and “Reverse Engineering”. We don’t know which resources are good and may waste time or even learn something false! We also don’t know if we have enough knowledge on one step to continue to the next step. Thank you in advance!😃❤
Happy New Year David and OTW. Thanks for all the information and inspiration last year, looking forward to learning a whole lot more this year from "the best I.T. and cybersecurity channel on youtube".
Happy new year David and OTW, thank you very much for all your content. I started this journey 2 years ago now and you both helped me so much, really really thanks😄
Hello David, I was eagerly waiting and knew you are gonna give us roadmap for 2024. And indeed wishing to have that with OTW. They are others did show with OTW but no one like you did. May Almighty bless you immensely to do more. Pls accept my heartfelt gratitude.
I would like to thank you for this roadmap . I had start this month learning about how computer work with learn python language . I will follow this roadmap !R
Great talk, however Linux vs Mac I would choose for Mac which consist of Linux kernel. About Cisco hmm if you do not know networking would not made sence do try anything 🙂
Happy new year to you and all the hackers in the comments 💻 your videos jump started my career in this field last year and I can’t thank you and all the content creators enough for helping me and others get started! Cheers 🍻
David, Go setup a network for a small business/office space and see how you can securely design/isolate and setup the device and then have OTW find all your mistakes. maybe find charity organisations or similar so you can upgrade a local youth shelter or homeless shelter for tax benefits and good PR as well as show the entire process of scoping out the clients need, understanding what you need to use vlans for and how to isolate the users from those areas they don't need to be inside. while also letting OTW find all the bits you miss and other people commonly miss and in the end you have 3rd video where it is after action review where you both take on the feedback and ideas seen from both sides and brainstorm how to make it better. 1st Video: Network and Infastructure With David 2nd Video: OTW Why common practices are poor practice etc. (red team) 3rd Video: Q&A and brainstorm with live chat with fans so they can question your decisions and choices.
Hi David thanks for everything you share , I was thinking that maybe just maybe you could do some 2024 becoming a ethical hacker studying plan , a sort of playlist with all the basic knowledge and all the things you should practice everyday to improve your hacking skills , what I mean is that maybe a sort of schedule and idk maybe something like: python Monday 10 scripts and fundamentals you should master , Tuesday of basic Linux commands on CLI , Thursday of the best python libraries, idk things like that cuz making an habit is the best way to improve , thanks for reading and happy new year
Love OTW and David. Thanks guys, I really struggle with focusing and digesting books so all my learning is through videos and labs, id love to do OTW's book as a video!
Thank you so much for this and all others videos, so much helpful to plan our future to make our dreams true. Hopefully its not too late to me with 29 years old
As someone who is just looking into learning, this presentation seems to be an ideal guide. I'm no software guy but that's what I need to learn so here I am, lol.
Hey David, how often do you maintain your practical knowledge with real world networks do you ever worried you would become disconnected from the reality of networking by being to focused on the training and education path?
Amazing as always!!! David any chance for API and web application hacking video? For instant API endpoint analysis, Postman, mor burp suite (extension like IP Rotator) Would be really appreciated!
Been thinking for change for past few months now......is it good for me as a 10 years experience developer (C#, python, web stack) to transit to hacking or offensive security domain.....had a degree in cyber security but all the industry experience of mine is in development....im 35 now, is it a good transition ?
Great video once again, David. Thank you ! I can see you put an emphasis on integrating AI into one's hacking diet. Would be very much interested in you getting more into the practical aspects of AI as a hacking skill. Surely this would involve more than just using ChatGPT to answer questions or generate basic Python, Javascript or bash scripts. So what does it mean for a hacker to embrace AI? That's an aspect you should definitely explore in your video this year. Speaking of which, Happy New Year to you! 🙂
Did OTW say that he's publishing new/updated linux for hackers book this year,I believe I've heard it in one of the videos ? As always great and informative content David ,thank you so much ! Happy new year to all of the good people out here !
Excellent video guys! Thank you very much for this valuable information. I am a person that is starting in this field and I am so lost in all the information out there in the internet. This was great
Well after getting to see the video, i guess these are the skills you need to learn in order to hacker on offensive or a consultant/ analyst on defensive, am i right?
Bro, programming, software engineering, hacking does not require any high-spec high speed computer/laptop. Simply buy any simple laptop/computer for very low price, it will do the work
Same thing with learning them. RU-vid has almost every single course available for free. Like free CompTIA A+ course by professor messer (RU-vid), free ccna course by network Chuck😊😊😊 😊😊😊. May you become successful ❤❤
Hi david and OTW i love you guys as always and i want to tell you i asked a OTW book for christmas (becoming a master hacker updated version)!!! It's arriving tomorrow i cannot wait to read it! You guys are my heroes!!❤
I realized that I couldn't buy the book 'Network Basics for Hackers' from Turkey. Please fix this as soon as possible. I am eager to read the book. Thank you.
