Enduro racing is alive and thriving! The 2024 North American Enduro Cup in Kellogg, Idaho, proved the sport's resilience despite challenging weather. Despite half the stages being cut due to snow, the event showcased the unyielding spirit of the enduro community.
On Friday, racers got their first chance to put rubber to the dirt and find the lines of the five stages that were to be Saturday's race course. Stage 1 featured classic, off-camber trails like Soup Kitchen and Mom Jeans, while Stage 2 was a steep, chunky, fast track with some large man-made features, testing technical skills at high speed. Stage 3 brought riders onto raw, untamed tracks, including the notorious Daisy Dukes, followed by the technical rock faces of Stage 4's Red Dragon. Stage 5 challenged riders with loamy steeps and scree fields from the summit of Wardner Peak.
Saturday's racing was cut short by a severe storm. The snow line hit the top of Stages 2 and 3, and buried the entirety of Stages 4 and 5, leaving nearly all riders to conquer only Stage 1. However, Sunday's race resumed with racers conquering the infamous 3,400’ top-to-bottom Stage 6, then tackling Stage 3 with its raw off-camber tracks, roots, and loamy steeps. It was all smiles at the finish line as racers ran party trains through the trails and back to the pits to turn in their chips.
Congrats all the racers who braved the challenging weather this weekend, and thanks to everyone who came out and made this an unforgettable race weekend!
