New Year, New Board! 2024 Starboard Carve 169L. Drake 48, and 9.2 Severne Turbo. 12-20mph winds. First session on this board and am super happy with it. Definitely a performance upgrade from my Goya Volar 160L. Handles great, responsive, smooth, can't wait to get some more sessions on it.

Hey, can i join the XXL Surfers Club with 105kg? ;) like your Videos, Hopefully this Weekend is Wind we head to our homespot. I have 150l rocket that is now old, the Starboard looks very nice and it was hard over the last years when i searched for a new Board to find one in 150l+ category. Will have a look at that one.

Welcome to the XXL Club! Yeah the 159L and 169L are super fun for the bigger guys. Smooth jibing! Hope you get a great session in this weekend. Thanks for watching!

Finally, bro! Someone like me, using 169 L board and 9-10 m sail. I'm tired to watch all this light-weight guys flying around! Stay strong and make fun!

I should have named my Channel the XXL Windsurfer! I am with you. Being on the heavy side we have a different experience than most windsurfing you see. Thanks for riding along with me!

Jake, I'm watching your shorts videos latest one about jibing. You need to stay sheeted in more with your back hand as you carve. You're spilling to much wind (power) because your sail is too wide open when you carve. Trying staying sheeted in more as you carve with your back hand. Move your back hand down the boom more when you start to carve and keep it sheeted in... Knees bent, constant pressure on down wind rail. Sheet in with back hand!!

Congrats on the new acquisition! Looking great! I’ve been ridding for a few days the new 2024 Starboard Futura 120 this past July and I have as many good things to say about it as you do with your new Carve! I assume you are using an insta360. How do you make sure it doesn’t come loose/unthreads from the mount. Just got one and haven’t tried it yet on the water but I’m thinking the thing could easily come loose after a few minutes of heavy vibration. What’s your experience with it? Any advice? What mounts are you using? Cheers!

Thanks! Glad to hear you like that Futura too. Yes I am using the Insta 360x3. Yeah the mounting system gives me that sketchy feeling too. So there metal cases you can buy on Amazon for the Insta 360 x3 that have the standard GoPro mounting system, which I feel is much more secure than the insta twirly screw deal. Great! Thanks. At least, that's a frame you can tie a leech just in case! I'll give this a try!

Nice looking board and if it's more responsive so much the better but what made you switch from the Goya?
@gusthunter8780

It is shorter, narrower, 5 lbs lighter, had 9 more liters of floatation (like if I lost 20lbs), the rails are sharper, the mast foot connection is recessed, and the tail has double cutouts for less planing surface. It is twice as much $ as Goya and worth it to me now as I have progressed.

Deck pads under straps are padded and angled as well and puts me in a better stance too.

Mast track is shorter too with clear marking s for adjustments.

Ok ... just curious because you seemed super happy with the Goya. The sharper rails will be good on flat water in lighter winds but when the wind picks up they won't be as easy to jibe with as softer rails especially if you get into swells or choppy conditions. But if you still have the Goya you can just switch boards I guess! I'm also curious as to how they cut 5 Lbs which is pretty impressive but I'm wondering if the construction is strong enough. It may be that the new technology can withstand more now than in the past but it used to be ding prone on the super light weight boards in years past. Anyway, happy sails brother! @@gusthunter8780

Looks good. Whereis that? What is the location in the video?

Fort Desoto Park out past Tierra Verde, FL. The spot is East Beach, but you drive past the beach to the roundabout. You park on the mangrove side and there is an access hole to get out there.
