Here's episode 4 of our 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Offroad Build Series. We're taking the 4th Gen Tacoma out offroading this time to see what the new suspension and upgrades can do. We visit Cleghorn Ridge OHV Trail in Southern California. Joining us are our friends in a 4Runner, 3rd Gen Tacoma, Lexus GX460, and GX470.
Truck is lifted on a set of King 2.5 Shocks with Camburg Kinetik Billet Uniball Upper Control Arms and Camburg Kinetik Trailing Arm Set. It's also sitting on KMC Impact Forged Beadlocks, Toyo Open Country MT Tires in 35x12.50R17, a Prinsu Pro Cabrack, and a set of Baja Design XL Linkables. So much hate out there towards the new tacoma. Mainly the price and the tfl video that broke the trd off road but other than that it looks like a beast to me, (even tho you did some major upgrades to it)

them HATERS they think yhe 2.4 is new like the truck the 2.4 is old toyota have been using that motor for a long time in other toyota models the 2.4 has been tested time and time again its bullert proof like all other toyota moters them HATERS cant afford the new tacoma thats why they HATEN.....

Although I don't go off-roading, nor would I build up my trd off-road to make it look and perform the way you did (which looks cherry by the way 👍🏽🍒), watching this video is making me wish I ordered the trd-off road instead of the trd sport. I was teetering between the 2 trims and decided to go with the sport 4×4 because like I said earlier, I don't go off-roading anyway. Nice truck my guy 🤙🏽🤙🏽

Nice! amazing rigs tires make a huge difference I’m on 33” with 3” lift 6112,5160 on my 4Runner TRD off road premium on ko2s 285/75 17 very happy with my set up Toyotas and Lexus are the best Overlanding vehicles ever built🤙🏾

How do these new Tacomas handle the lift? I’ve had a 1st gen Tundra and now a 2nd gen Tacoma and it seems like after the lift they ride terrible and something in the front end is always needing to be replaced. Biggest thing I notice is a lot of bump steer. Just wondering if you get any of that out of the 4th gen. Curious if the electronic steering might make a difference with bump steer.

They ride great and so do older Tacomas and Tundras as long as you have a proper lift and good alignment specs. More often than ever, bump steer is caused by bad toe and/or caster. Overextending your suspension also causes bad angles and will be more than your shocks can handle to give you an unpleasant ride too. What lifts did you have on the G1 Tundra and G2 Tacoma?

@@88ROTORS sadly no longer have the 1st gen Tundra. On my Tacoma I have Bilstein 5100s. They are set at factory setting with the collar and I have the ToyTec 2.5” coil spring that you can use with them. I have JBA upper control arms. Castor is set at 3 degrees and everything else with alignment is within spec. I do believe my power steering pump is going bad. JD Fabrication has an upgraded power steering kit on their website and in their description they mention OE check valves for power steering have a hard time keeping up when you add larger/heavier tires 🤷‍♂️ maybe something worth checking into? Or I could just buy a 4th gen lol
