Game developers sketch out ideas for their models and then send them to an animation team. The animation team may be a private company. A department of the game company itself, or possibly a small independent animation producer. Unless it is an Unreal Engine production, because Unreal Engine uses commonly used moveset anatomy and simulated physics and templates etc, I have made a very simple model and assigned automation to that model just to gain a basic understanding of the process. But I have not implemented any of my own produced models in any of my game mods because I like to use professionally made models. It can take many years to master the fundamentals of animation production, and it also takes a long time to develop a fast efficient workflow. I know this The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time mod probably didn't meet your expectations, as these models and textures are the only publicly available resources I can find. The Render96 Team has posted some pictures of Ocarina of Time models that they have been developing, but there have been no official releases yet. But as soon as they do release something, I will be on it💯

What makes them so incredible is how the designs from Melee really tried hard to be like the original promotional art for Zelda n64. That's why I feel people are using the Melee models more than the 3DS remake ones.

It seems to me that you are adhering to the original intent of the artists when they were making the game. Nothing seems too outlandish. This is impressive stuff! Kinda reminds me of Narrel and his work for retexturing Majora's Mask. The skyboxes are indeed also of particular note. Is it just me, though, or are the greens subdued? If that is the case, I would advise bringing the green values up a bit, just so the greens (now browns) don't clash with the abundant high contrast use of reds and blues.

Love this texture pack. A lot of OoT re-textures (including the 3DS remake) make the game look too bright and cartoony. This texture pack does a great job of matching the earthy, rustic color palette of the original game. Feels like a very natural HD upgrade to the original artistic intent.

The OOT Reloaded Mod is just the perfect Remaster to the N64 game, but Melee Overhaul don't seems to fit with it the colors and Link eyes look a little weird.

It ultimately depends on personal preference. If you prefer the game to closely resemble the original but be playable on modern displays, then that is the way to go. However, there's nothing wrong with an unreal version either. I would enjoy a version with unreal environments. But for those of us who are used to the original, keeping it authentic is our preferred choice.

Are you considering using any of the OOT 3D assets, like the 3D environments that replaced the pre rendered ones like in the house interiors and Hyrule castle town.

I've decided not to use the OOT 3D interior assets because some of the environment-improved 4k textures I am currently using would be overridden. The OOT 3D interior textures look less cardboardy, but the remaining OOT 3D textures didn't look that great and would override some of the improved 4k textures I am currently using. I would need to retexture and upscale the OOT 3D interior textures to meet similar standards to the 4k textures I am using in this video demonstration. Not using the OOT 3D interior assets gives this mod an authentic look, which was not intentional, lol. However, I am using the shield and equipment from the OOT 3D version. I made this video for a subscriber request, and I'm also working on other requests!

I intentionally tried to give it a dreamy quality, although I'm not sure if I achieved the effect correctly. It's a common technique that movie producers use to indicate that a character in the movie is dreaming or something. They make everything hazy and bloomy, and they also slightly slow down the film, although it's barely noticeable unless you pay very close attention. These combinations of effects are how you accurately achieve the dreamy, hazy look. I use Reshade, which is limited in terms of precise adjustments, so I have to compensate by removing the HUD or any other elements that may interfere. But in this case, I couldn't because it's Zelda and it would look worse without the HUD and stuff.

@@mattplays2 When using modifications, it's important to check for compatibility between mods. If you can't find any information on a mod's compatibility with other mods, it's best not to use that mod. Only install one mod at a time and run the game before installing a second mod. File structure is important, so pay attention to the load order. When renaming mod files, add "01" before the existing name, but don't change the entire name. Ideally, start with your 4k texture pack and ensure it's first in the loading mods order. Additionally, go into your task manager, find your game, and set infinity to high. This will allocate the appropriate amount of RAM to the application, ensuring smooth performance.

@@uItra. neither does this. oot 3d respects the artstyle from the booklets and concept art a lot more. the n64 being heavily limited due to hardware isn't solved by making massive huge high def textures that make the game edge toward a more dark and realistic look, which make the shortcomings of the n64 stick out like a sore thumb even more than ever

@@uItra.A good compromise might be to slap the Melee model into the 3D version. It wouldn't look too out of place like it kinda does here. Though what concerns me more is the high detail textures imposed onto the low poly geometry. Every piece of wood that isn't the Great Deku Tree looks gross and stretched beyond belief. Castle Town also looks like a visual nightmare with how sharp the ground texture is. It even starts getting distorted the further back you look. ( Though the pre-rendered Resident Evil style backgrounds have aged terribly imo. No amount of high detail texture pack will fix it. It'd be better to just swap it all out for that fully 3D explorable Castle Town version that OOT multiplayer has. )

This is a couple weeks old but, I unfortunately have to somewhat agree, I actually do think these models are lovely, however, a number of these areas are a bit detached from their original artstyle, I would have loved to have seen a more modernized retelling of the story with a greater level of graphical appearance. for the moment however, I think the 3ds models would provide an experience that more closely resembles the original game with its original art style. I'd love to see more mod showcases though, perhaps different textures for the maps even.

I'll be honest, I'm not too keen on this. A high-poly Link model surrounded by a bunch of low-poly N64 models just looks bad to me. I also feel like textures a bit too realistic and deviate from the original artistic style too. It makes the whole world look uncanny, it's not like Nerrel's texture pack for Majora's Mask (which is one of the best texture packs ever made to be made to be fair) for example.

I've spent several hours searching through publicly available resources, but I couldn't find any additional models for the Legends of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I'm considering reaching out to an independent model developer and paying them to create some models for me. It can be challenging to schedule time with a model developer, but the render69 team has been sharing pictures of the models they've been working on and making them publicly available, so I might hold out a little longer.

iirc Ship of Harkinian is a fully fledged source code PC port of OOT, that's why people are so excited. I think this video is just showing off some modifications the uploader made to the game running on the PC port, it's not the actual thing people are clamoring over
