I I have 1600 miles on my new 2024 Corolla Hybrid LE... I love this thing. Every time that green EV light shows on the dashboard, it feels good. I'm getting insane MPGs like high 70s consistently, while still getting to where I'm going in the time expected and charted by the GPS, a lot of the time it will be a few minutes faster, really. The only thing I have to do to get those MPG numbers is essentially not drive like it's a race car 😅 I don't know if those numbers are sustainable for a long time or will the MPG get slightly worse with time, I have no idea, this is my first hybrid. Great car, great review 👍
Questioning about MPG. I'm in market for hybrid and been comparing between Corolla and Prius ( knowing that it more expensive ) , mainly driving on freeway .
@@danhtran2243 prius is the king when it comes to hybrid and getting MPGs, plus i like prius more due to its intelligent features...driven both..now using corolla due to price and availability
I have been driving a 2004 Corolla since 2007. It has made a believer of me. It’s been a fantastic car - utterly dependable. I want to replace it with another Corolla and this hybrid looks great. Unfortunately, I can’t afford a new one, so I’ll wait for used ones to appear. My 2004 will undoubtedly do me just fine until then!
I have an 05 with rear disc brake conversion. I love it, ceramic tint all the way around and the windshield, 9907xr Kenwood reciever, 2 12" subs and infinity speakers all around, 2 upgraded rear sway bars in the rear. Painted the outside OEM black....aaannnnnnnndddddd I kinda hate it man. I like my 09 prius more. 26mpg in the corolla commuting 80mph 100 miles a day minimum, where I get 40-44mpg in the prius. The prius is like a mini SUV that gets wild gas mileage. I'm currently looking to either get a newer prius 2016 or so, or just get another 2009 2nd gen prius due to the cargo room. But I want the 2016+ due to being able to get comma AI autopilot and 50+mpg, but you loose the cargo space.
I now have 1,700 miles on my 24 XLE (C) and the mpg states 59.7 on the gauge, 58.3 actual. 90% LA freeway driving which means lots of stop and go. Had a 23 Hyundai Elantra LImited Hybrid (E) and comparisons are as follows: E had more interior room and storage, larger trunk, better acceleration, ventilated seats, larger 10.25" screens and equal sounding Bose stereo vs optional JBL in C. C has a smoother ride, more comfortable seats, better mpg, $2K less expensive and most importantly is reliable. The E's battery died after two weeks and I didn't get the buy back payment for four months while the car sat in my garage. They did pay the full price however. Dependability is my main reason for buying a Corolla along with the great gas mileage.
You stated your 24 XLE is most importantly "reliable". How can one state that after such SHORT ownership (it's a brand new model)? That makes no sense.
Great review as always Drew! One criticism I have towards several American car reviewers is that they are sometimes tone-deaf and elitist. As if only rich and upper middle class Americans watch their videos. That's why I prefer your reviews. You review all types of cars and you make sure to review plenty of cheaper cars. Thanks for looking out for us poor/working class Americans, Drew!!
I have one of these in the SE trim and in white. I got it 2 months ago and I absolutely love it. It’s incredibly comfortable and I consistently get great MPG with an average around 48 mpg but in the 50s pretty consistently as well. I really like the design of the SE and it’s been driving beautifully. The interior is high quality, comfortable, and it’s a perfect combination of digital and analog technology that keeps everything it simple and easy to operate and enjoy.
Bought a new 2023 Corolla LE Hybrid AWD last January and after one year of ownership I can truthfully say I absolutely love this thing ..... Looks good drives fantastic love all the new tech and of course it gets that great MPG ..... My brother lives 15 miles from me and the last 3 times I drove to his house in the summer time I got 76,74 and 76 mpg and this is after I finally figured out how to drive a hybrid (My first) ...... One thing if anyone is wondering about the AWD it is very basic since it is completely separated from the front but it is capable enough that if you know how to drive in winter weather that you wont have to worry about getting stuck in the winter time but it 100 % can not be taken off road it's just to basic of an AWD system ..... And I live in Illinois.
I got 2024 SE (assembled in Japan). I dont know why all these reviewers never mention that "key fob" is also REMOTE STARTER. The dealer I got my Corolla from, wanted to scam me by selling a $1300 package that includes remote starter, WHEN I already knew remote starter comes default. When you download the Toyota app and add your Corolla, you can start your Corolla from your phone (for 1 year if I am not wrong).
I have a 2024 Corolla hybrid LE FWD and I'm getting 59.4 MPG with it going up each day. The reason for improvement is because I no longer drive on the expressway to and from work, driving over 60 mi a day. I also have a 2021 Toyota sienna AWD which only comes in a hybrid and I only get 33 mpg which is a little under the sticker. If you want better gas mileage I suggest you don't get a moonroof and you get the FWD.
This car is not designed for flooring the pedal. Be gentle, and you will see that it drives like an old-fashioned Buick--very smooth and sophisticated!
Bring back the Focus and not with a dual clutch, a standard clutch and regular automatic. A Hybrid Focus will sell like hotcakes unlike the electric they had but who knows 🤷♂️
They tried and purposely put no effort in doing it. The early 90’s ford escort is probably the last thing Japan was intimidated by, but ford wants to keep their employees paid so they make the vehicles they make and then adjust what they have based off demand. They don’t make cars anymore because people don’t like cars that spend more time in the shop and less time on the road. Japan has respect for the quality of their products. America does not. Making America great again is a dinosaur slogan that will never see the light of youth again.
Re Prius, yes. of you find one. Last Toyota dealership I visited wanted a payment and they put you on the list. Tried to sell me a Corolla which was on the lot. I must say they were willing to give me top dollar for my 2019 Prius.
I agree with you the Corolla hybrid or none hybrid drive very smooth ride excellent on gas that is why the Corolla is most selling car in the world by the way the Corolla just beat the Honda civic best selling car in Canada for the last year 2022 and 2023 the Corolla still ahead of Honda civic in sale thanks for sharing your video take care bye from milton Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Love Younger's Toyota! Got a great deal for a highlander there in 2019. During the pandemic, they sold us a brand new rav4 for MSRP, when every single Toyota dealership in the MD/VA/DC loop was charging an extra $5k - $10k markup.
I got a 2024 se hybrid, it gives 600 miles of full gas tank when driven off the dealer, now with a full gas tank the lowest is 511 miles on full gas tank, what are the odds for not giving the 600 miles on a full tank of gas?
I like the car, but according to their brochure, you don't get heated seats until you upgrade to the XLE trim. And you can't get the XLE hybrid with AWD. So it seems you can't get a hybrid AWD car with heated seats, which is annoying. (Only in the USA though. You can get that configuration in Canada for some reason)
Thanks for this well done review. I have an order in for the SE AWD and appreciate this video. I also drove the Prius, but it loses on trunk space by quite a lot. Also the Prius didn't feel as quick as I thought it would be. I have high expectations coming out of an Audi A3 Quattro, but based on the test drive the only big difference was performance, Audi being quicker, but the Corolla has more interior room and a lot more trunk space. Of course the MPG is a big difference!
Responding to comments: now at 4,300 miles and it's still within a 1.7 mile mpg as I've never cleared it since day one, kept all gas receipts and use the calculator after each fill up (yeah I'm a nerd). Still no mechanical issues and it's easy to say dependable when the Hyundai died within the first two weeks. Also I had a '93 Camry and an '02 Solara Convertible in the past (both purchased new) and they went over 100k miles without issues so I anticipate the same for the Corolla. Lastly, I found a dealer 240 miles away that had two XLE models arriving and bought mine, with cash, at sticker. Here in So CA they are marking them up by around $2,500 and have yet to see one on inventory in the Toyota listing within 500 miles.
I have a Corolla Cross with 2.0 gas engine non hybrid. I use extreme driving style (hyper milling and cruise around 80 km/h) to extract the best mileage. So far my best try was 4.167L/100km, which is about 56 MPG. My overall MPG after 8000km of driving is 46.94.( 5.0L/100km) So the M20A FKS coupled with CVT is extremely efficient.
Anemic performance does not work for me in the mountain roads. CVT is another issue. Gas mileage is great, but lack of performance and woeful AWD are why I passed on this general vehicular appliance
As long as you consider the price and gas mileage you might be satisfied with this car. Stepping on the accelerator is an exercise in futility as the engine will rev up to 5000 rpm as it struggles to respond. If you drive conservatively, it probably won't be an issue. Road noise is excessive in my opinion - After two months of ownership, I bought new Michelin tires in a effort to maybe reduce some of the road noise but it did not really reduce it much more than the Factory installed Yokohama tires. The ride is not bad for a car of this size and price considering the fuel economy. This is a lot of car for the money if you can overlook the disadvantages I listed above. Would I buy it again as it is today? Probably not.
Depends where you live, if it gets slippery in winter then get the se awd. Not sure if it comes without awd but if you can get se without awd then get it, it's worth it with the driver screen and added sportiness
Factory ordering is at least a 24 months wait in Canada. I’m in Alberta but got stuck with the LE FWD. I’ll drive it for about 3 years while I pay it off & wait for the AWD XLE Hybrid Camry to arrive; all the sportiness 🤗 thank you for the response Ryan!
Lucked out here in Ontario, I wanted a white LE AWD....Dealer has a white Le coming in a few weeks. Gave up the AWD, but I dont have to buy another car while I wait for an ordered AWD. I love the Camry, but the wait time is something else....@@aaliyahmccormick1426
Honda announced it will finally be available in 2024 in the US at a recent auto show as a sedan or hatchback. Hope it’s as good as the 2019-2022 Insight was.
Yes. The sedan will be built in Alliston, Ontario starting in spring 2024 for the US and Canada markets. The hatchback will start production shortly after in Greensburg, Indiana. Both will use the 2 liter engine and 2 motor electric power unit which will come from US factories.
@@brianfeeney6873 It that confirmed? If yes, think I'll wait for the second year production of the hatchback. I would've already bought this Corolla Hybrid in SE trim if not for the Mark-ups, accessories and protection packages shoved down on consumers throat. Hopefully, in the next year or 2 Honda dealerships will not be price gouging.
I get the xse is the sporty trim but seriously why in the world on a mpg focused vehicle would you put that big of wheels on…. Drop it down to 17’s , they’ll still look good and bam your fuel economy shoots up even more
72 mpg one way? Other way was 50. I believe it’s possible to achieve 72. Not on highway with 70 mph though. On highway you will need to drive 40 mph to get that numbers. I got few times 72 mpg over 350 miles round trip. Maybe 25% highway, rest is rural roads, on Prius. Weather 80 degrease temperature, no rain, no ac.
The Corolla Hybrid should also be built in the US and Canada.... Engineering and Design = same Parts / Suppliers = Same or.Toyota approved Production and Aasembly = Same Come on Toyota - please increase production
@@antoniocognato5023 I was my understanding that the Corolla Hybrids sold in the North American market are made in Japan. However, I'd love to see the production of Corolla hybrids in North America too.
Might also have an exhaust manifold leak. Car will still run fine, May just use more fuel. Simple way to find out is. With the car off hook, a shop vac to the tail pipe, blowing into the exhaust. Then spray down the joints and manifold with soapy water between first oxygen sensor and engine head. You will be looking for bubbles.
The mpg is just a national average, but like shown, it's EASILY crushed. I had a 2016 prius eco and lifetime mpg was 77mpg NOT driving like an old lady.
BS … I have the 2024 SE hybrid and am getting 46 average over 10 thousand miles driving like everyone else here in Phoenix … don’t give me this BS about driving for mileage , you will get fingered and cut off by angry drivers . 46 is what this car gets
I can’t stand having a screen where I can’t hide it just the screen there I got TV I got a phone that’s enough in my car. I don’t need no damn screen. I think I would get mad and I just rip it off.
Ugly front styling & headlights, & a lot more corner-cutting on the Corolla to cut costs. I would rather pay a bit extra & get the latest Prius, if going for a hybrid car.
