Toyota makes excellent vehicles. I have a 2021 Palisade that turns three years old in about a week. I love it! It is our "road car" for driving vacations and is perfect for us. On the comments about power, I'm not understanding why some people think it's weak on power. In my opinion, it's not a race car and the power is matched perfect for this type of vehicle. Switch it into sport mode and it feels like a turbo just kicked in! I drive it mostly in Eco mode for the better fuel economy. Hyundai makes great vehicles and I prefer the 100,000 mile power train warranty and the reliability.

It is amongst the best in its class, but engine power really fepends on how you drive, and to mlst people im pretty sure its more than enough for daily driving !

My suggestion to any "leadfoots" out there is if you like more power, just run a Palisade in "sport mode" and you will not be disappointed!

My main concern is the power going up hill (camping, long drive) with all the "load" (family stuff) inside. How did your 3.8 V6 perform? I'm a little doubting the hybrid (any hybrid). If I'm wrong about the hybrid, please comment as we are studying what choice could get both worlds (climbing power and technology). I like the Palisade because they lavished the car with technology (some what Tesla vibe)--Turn L/R camera (Highlander doesn't have).

With all due respect, there are thousands of RU-vid reviews on vehicles you need to start picking a vehicle that is superior when you’re matching them up which one is your choice? Which one is better pros and cons of both like you always do but you need to start picking a vehicle that you like better than the other to guide people.

So has Hyundai fixed their head bolt pulling out of the block problem yet I know two people that have cars in the shop waiting for motors for this problem

How was the climbing capabilities of these two SUV's? GrandH has 362 hp & 400 lb torque--does that mean, climbing up hill during long drives is "easy-peasy"? How about the 3.8 L V6 of Palisade?
@jp1087
@jp1087 8 месяцев назад
That power and torque are only available on the Hybrid Max model with a 6-speed trans. The additional two gears on the 8-speed Palisade transmission will make hill climbing an easy task for it even though it has less power and torque. Why they went with a cvt or 6-speed auto on these is beyond me. Everyone else is using 8, 9 or 10 speed autos in this class of SUV.

That 20 thousand dollar cheaper price tag comes at the cost of quality and long term reliability. Both are beautiful. If you want a lot for less then Hyundai. The quality of the Platinum GH is top notch, and it’s made in the same plant as the Lexus TX so when someone says the quality of the Hyundai is better it’s coming from a Palisade owner. Nobody in their right mind would ever say a Hyundai is better than Lexus. Toyota overbuilds their engines and then they de-tune them so they are putting out less power than they are capable of. That’s why they last so long. Other manufacturers try to get as much HP out of the engine which decreases long term reliability. No hate, just facts!

Toyota's turbo 2.4 in these has only been around for a couple years. It's a new design, so no telling what kind of long term reliability you're looking at. Plus it isn't as smooth and refined as the time-tested V6 it replaces. Many Toyota fans actually don't appreciate the switch and were looking forward to a solid V6 option in a bigger SUV. The Hyundai/Kia 3.8 has been around for 20 years and is proven to be reliable in a number of configurations. The Grand Highlander uses a CVT, which is great in small to medium cars where you are looking for fuel efficiency and easy work. But isn't great in big heavy SUV's, especially when you give it a tow rating of 5,000lbs. Nissan has been using CVT's regularly for 20 years, but stopped using them in their Pathfinders and switched to a 9-speed auto, if that tells you anything. A pumped up torquey turbo 2.4 and a cvt in a heavy car? That's a lot of hard work on smaller components that are designed for efficiency. I certainly hope someone doesn't hook up a 4k travel trailer and load the family for a trip to the mountains. Only time will tell. While the Toyota might be built in the same plant as a Lexus and look somewhat similar, that is where the similarity ends. The Toyota uses completely different parts, and the quality and performance distinction between the two are obvious. Many car reviewers have even stated not to make the mistake of assuming it's as nice as a Lexus just because it's a high-end Toyota. It's really no more similar to a Lexus than the Hyundai is.

@@jp1087 You’re assuming this Toyota won’t have the same reliability as the rest. As for Turbo’s, Toyota have been making turbo charged engines since the Supra in 1979. The late 90’s to early 2000’s Supra’s sell for over 100,000 in good condition. To compare a Hyundai to a Toyota is ridiculous. The Palisade is nice…for a Hyundai. …and the Lexus platform shares a majority of the same parts from the frame, body, and engine. Fit and finish is what puts the Lexus ahead. The Grand Highland has the gas, hybrid and hybrid max. Only the hybrid has the CVT for fuel economy. It’s all about what you’re looking for. I have the 2.4 gas with a standard transmission in the Platinum trim. My sister has the Palisade, and while I would never tell her, it feels cheap in comparison. Hyundai is the poor man’s Toyota. You get a lot for less.

@@gabepeterson4420 In this day, most cars have about the same reliability expectations. You're assuming that the Toyota is going to be reliable only because of it's name. I'm stating the GH's reliability hasn't been proven because the engine design is new. Every manufacturer has been making turbos forever, and no, they don't tend to be as reliable as n/a engines. As for old turbo Supras that people buy for $100k, those aren't daily drivers, those are collector cars that are rarely driven or they are heavily modified. I certainly wouldn't trust one as a daily commuter. For that kind of money I would get a newer Porsche. Say what you want about Hyundai/Kia, but looking at all of the legitimate reviewers, they seem to be the benchmark to compare everything else to. While you might call it the "poor man's" Toyota, getting a lot for less is nothing less than a smart financial move, especially with a proven product. When you buy a Toyota in today's world, you're paying a premium for the name and hoping the resale market holds out for 5 more years so you can upgrade to the newer model and pay even more $$; but you're not gaining anything additional in terms of utility or longevity.

@@thecarbeatedits I never said any manufacturer was perfect 100% of the time. Anyone who states as such is a fool. That's also what your warranty is for. I've purchased 3 Hyundais brand new over the past 17 years, and not one of them has ever let me down or had any major issues. The only time I used the warranty was when the body mounts on my minivan started to fail. Otherwise, no mechanical or electrical issues at all.

3 row SUV must have a V6. None of that 4 bangers. If you buy a 3 row SUV looking for fuel economy, then downgrade to smaller or even sub compact hauler. 4 cylinders for sucjh big vehicles are loud and weak, feels heavy.
