Jesse, what option is missing at 7:06? At the top of the video there are two buttons; the one on the left is labeled, "View" and the one to its right is a blank. I call those "button blanks," but the point is, it does nothing - these are almost always used when a higher trim or an option package adds functionality and then that button blank is replaced by a button that does something. I would have thought the Platinum had every possible feature, but apparently not. If the Platinum you filmed really *does* have every last option, then perhaps the Lexus TX adds a new feature there...?
Jesse, thanks for this video - nice comparison of the two models. Maybe you could compare a Limited and the Platinum sometime. I have a question about the use of a 6-speed automatic in the Hybrid Max drivetrain. So the front electric motor of the Hybrid Max is located before the transmission (which makes it a "pancake motor")? Is that true? Because I've heard that the electric motor in the front makes it impossible to fit the 8-speed automatic transmission because then the entire assembly (gas engine, electric motor, automatic transmission) would be too wide to fit between the shock towers. Is that what you've heard? Or maybe it fits but it's a cost cutting measure to use the 6-speed auto that is used in the Hybrid Max... I'm skeptical that the 8-speed wouldn't fit, because when you look at the two engines in your video, the non-hybrid model has the 12-volt battery mounted to the engine's right. On the Hybrid Max, I'm not sure where the 12 volt battery is, but I don't see it on the right like the gas-only model. Point being it appears that there is plenty of room in the engine bay. It looks to me like the electric motor is inline with the engine and transmission on the *left* side of the engine bay. Can anyone confirm this? Enquiring minds want to know!
I recently placed an order for the XLE. The problem I have with it is the interior color option. They only have black color. I wish there are options like the Platinum.
Some are considering the TX for a little luxury, but the price difference for what you get with the Lexus is not worth it. So, the platinum GH is a great alternative for some. I think it’s good the Toyota has so many choices available. Something for everyone! Can’t find that with other car makers.
