Sadly, they are not going to ship the Champ to Europe as long at they are convinced you are willing/capable of paying for the regular Hilux (because we are all filthy rich right!). The Champ only "happened" in Thailand because the price of the regular Hilux was too high and didn't sell there. Maybe some other maker is going to catch up on the fact that people everywhere need a basic rugged commercial vehicle to get the job done. Dacia or maybe Tata, will pickup on this. In turn, this could force Toyota to ship the Champ to the rest of the world.

@@stoissdk I think it's not offered in the US and they don't even get the Hilux either (get the Tacoma instead). This Hilux Champ is doing very well in Thailand. It's not perfect but it does open a lot of opportunities for Toyota.

@@KLChan-kzl It comes with both diesel and gasoline engine choices so I guess freezing temps won't pose a problem. Just don't know which countries will they sell it in apart from Thailand.

@@kingsley220 I know for a fact that this would immediately become a hit with farmers here in Iowa, Minnesota, North/South Dakota, Illinois, and Michigan as long as the battery, and tires can last in the Midwest cold seasons. The only thing it really needs is an airbag, some crash testing, and maybe some extra things I'm forgetting off the top of my head. Other than those, if it gets good fuel economy, then I don't see a reason for that market to not choose this truck, especially over other types currently available. A farmer here could get a small fleet of those for the price of one workhorse truck here. The only thing it could be competing with in that market is pull weight. Many Americans use their trucks to pull trailers of things, including farm equipment, and something like the favorite F150, Cherokee, Chevy 4x4s, and more, might outperform this for that function, making this less attractive. Many other markets however, would find this niche to be a great fit right away, like construction, and manufacturing!

There are DPF functions that can be added to clean up the soot and there are also two more gasoline engines available in our market. But I guess the diesels are more popular here in Thailand.

It's classified as a 1-ton truck but buyers in Thailand do upgrade the load capacity with aftermarket parts. After shooting of the video, this truck also went through the upgrade and got a rear cab as well.

Surely coming to the Philippines as the Tamaraw.

In Thailand we also get the Suzuki Carry which is even cheaper than the Hilux Champ. It has a smaller cab and the ride isn't as comfy. Very popular as food trucks and other commercial uses though.

@@kingsley220 oh nice! I'm a native from the Caribbean that now resides in the US. They also have the Suzuki Carry, together with the Toyota Hiace and mitsubishi l300. Businesses love the Suzuki Carry over there with how practical and reasonable priced, compared to Toyota offerings. However, Hino (Toyota owned) and MAN dominate the large truck (gvwr 5.5t and above) market.

@@kingsley220 No problem. I almost forgot about Isuzu as well, their 5t trucks are also popular. Another question if you don't mind at all, do y'all also get the Toyota lite ace? Unfortunately, the dealers don't offer them in the US or the Caribbean. In the Caribbean, you have to rely on third party importers (Roll on & Roll off) if you want one.

@@carl8790 We get the Hiace and Commuter but they are not for delivery purposes but rather for passengers (7-seats and 11-seats).

Correct the other posters asking this over and over don't seem to realize where the added costs are, couple that with import taxes and it isn;t a viable vehicle in the NA market.

All I can point out is the appearance of the welding. But in terms of quality, it could be okay, otherwise a company like Toyota wouldn't approve it for sale. IMO

@@kingsley220 I highly doubt it's okay but then again I haven't looked exactly ultra closer but I can still see that it is bad. And we'll have to see how it holds up in the future. Otherwise it seems to be quite a decent pickup that I'd perhaps would buy.

Toyota sells only the base version while modifications (including closed cargo box) are done by a number of aftermarket providers.

They need to be tightened up.
