That's the thing that scares me the most - average skills and expectations of everyone are getting better and stricter as time passes. The later you join the community, the more work you need to do and more talent you need to have to be at the very least noticable among the others. Good example - Gacha community. If you joined in 2018, you could learn simple (compared to 2024) eye editing and learn more complex editing throughout the time. And if you joined in 2023-2024, you need to be able to draw anime eyes that look better than the whole Oshi no Ko anime series if you want to fit in. Animations also got more complex, flipa clip users then were like gods, and now it's not something marvelous. The same thing goes with everything, honestly. Roblox avatars got more complex and making and uploading jpg shirts and faces isn't enough, videogames are getting more realistic and massive (both in amount of work needed and amount of GB of free space it requires), science is moving forward and now there are even more things you need to know compared to 20th century. Of course, the fact that you're not perfect doesn't mean you can no longer achieve your goal. But this whole situation can easily kill all of the motivation you have.
To a degree it’s true. I’ve been in the community for years now. I barely started editing back in 2020 because I never had the tools to edit. Now that I do, it’s intimidating because everyone else is great
My honest opinion 2018 is an ACTUAL gacha eyes edit while 2024 is a very good drawing of eyes using gacha eye references. You want more honesty? They are both A LOT Better then what I could ever do 😭😭
