2024 Yamaha WR450F: Model Update Overview!

Yamaha’s WR450F is getting a big upgrade for 2024, with the popular enduro machine adopting the successful features seen on the YZ450F motocrosser.
According to Yamaha we’ll see a lighter, slimmer, more tractable and powerful machine, however the WRF is specifically built for riding in the bush. These will be arriving in Australia from January next year, or 2024 and pricing is $17,999 ride-away, or basically 18K out the door, which gives you a bit of time to start saving.

I sure wish Yamaha would make a street legal version for the US. I had a WR400 & WR450 in the past and it was a royal pain in the arse to get them though motor vehicle inspection. Sad to say I went orange, street legal and breeze to get tags for.

Yea, it's a shame you don't get the registerable version like here in Australia. They are a huge seller here.

My dealer here in Maryland tags the WR450f. They just add a few bits for an extra 250 bucks and you get a tag out the door.

@@PBstx1100 Hey neighbor, I’m in Delaware and are state is a PIA. If your turn signals or brake light look small they bring out the tape measure. Delaware has it in the law the minimum square inches the turn signals and brake light need to be. They bust your balls for chain guide, DOT tires, etc. When I went orange the bike didn’t have to go through inspection. When I had to renew they bust yours balls again but will let you through. I got my WR400 & WR450 a couple times each but it was so stressful. Maybe I should move a mile away then I’d be in MD.

@@danarussell4246 Maryland use to be a PITA about it. They are much more relaxed about it now. You just need to add the right parts for it to pass inspection

Hello, thank you for your video, can you guide me between the Andrew motor (ktm exc500f 2024) and [wr450 f 2024], which one is more suitable for mountainous areas and mountains with steep slopes, thank you.

That's what always scared me away from one, as I need to go so far to get to the good roads, so the WR250R fit the bill. But hopefully one day I'll own a proper enduro machine (and live somewhere I can ride it!!!)

Hi Kris, thank you for this video as I’m currently looking for a new off-road specific bike and this one is in the mix. Alternatively, if it was your money would you spend the extra coin for this or are the improvements not enough in your opinion and would you take advantage of the deals with the 23 model. I’m starting to think 23 based on what you have mentioned in potential savings. Please factor in that I’ll be paying cash for either. Thanks in advance for your response and thoughts. 👍😎🇦🇺

I'm pretty cheap, so buying the outgoing model is probably my go-to unless there's some amazing improvement that I specifically want. I'm assuming those savings are available even for cash, not just with finance, but would be worth checking!

@@kx501 be aware of the previous crf450rl issues because I don't think they have been fixed for the MY24. I'm personally gonna wait until they are tested by people like Kris to see if I end up wanting one 🤔

Great review. I have a pretty modded/maintained/updated 2003 and really wonder what I'm missing with 20 years of advancement. It would be neat to see the two side by side and do a comparison.

Yea, that's a great question, as that's quite the gap, but obviously a modified bike is normally set up really well, especially if you've held onto it that long!

@@pdubowner bud.... the whole thing. I owed a 06 last of the steel frames. I own a 23 wr450. Its absolutely mental. Not like the dinosaur that was. And servicing every 500km. Just oil and filter. It pulls wheelies at 150, and u can jump it like a yz. Its sooo Fucken good

7.9L was already too small for an enduro bike, why would they make it smaller, I get the better ergonomics, but I feel like the trade off isn’t worth it

2008 was quoted 112 kg dry. 2024 is 117 kg wet, including 7.4 L fuel weighing 5.5 kg plus the rest of the running fluids, so definitely a tiny bit lighter stock vs stock.

PT Barnum, a sucker and his money is soon parted. Motorcycle’s have approached the cost of automobiles. The guys that buy these are probably single and have a real good job. The world is nuts and getting worse all the time, I’d rather keep my money and ride older bikes that are just as good if not better.
