The Yamaha XT500 remains one of my all-time favorite single-cylinder motorcycles. This big air-cooled enduro won the inaugural Paris-Dakar Rally, swept the podium in its second year, and kicked off the adventure motorcycle class. Manufacturer-backed teams entered the fray, BMW developed the R80GS to dethrone the XT, and an “adventure arms race” ensued, giving birth to large-capacity four-stroke adventure bikes.

Agreed. This for sure is the hot set up. Putting a radiator on a bike that's meant to do deep off roading is crazy to me . same goes for the 2 shock system rather then one mono shock..Of course brake and engine up grade, which is what it should have been way back then

I like it!!! is it going to go into production? a modern version of XT 500 would be good seller.

doubt it, just another bait and switch marketing trick. bike companies have been doing this for years, show a cool prototype to get company attention and then release some boring version...boo

@@DevezaKarlLeighann I know it's not a prototype. I was thinking that it's cool enough that it might give Yamaha some ideas towards bringing back the XT 500. and it might give the some ideas on how they could improve upon the original XT 500. because I for one would like to see Yamaha bring back the XT 500.
