I particularly like the Cabrera. Love the storage rack rather than the wine rack and the fridge looks an improvement. The only thing I couldn’t see was anywhere to put a book etc by the bed. Was there an inset into the wardrobe perhaps? That’s one thing I find in our Cadiz. We’ve had to buy pockets that slide under the mattress. Interesting changes. Thanks for the video.
@TheTrudgians

The wardrobe cuts in, so revealing a place for a book and handy top down storage. Would recommend having a closer look, as I’m not describing this too well 👍

Hi Dan thanks for the vid. We have a 2017 Cabrera which we love. To be honest I would not swap for this van. There is one or two improvements. But also some negatives no radio that’s not good. The curtains are terrible. So not enough to sway me.
@Sco1ful
@Sco1ful Месяц назад
I'd prefer the sound bar, you can stream the radio from your phone. The radio system in our 2023 Pamplona is just tinny sounding and hopeless to Bluetooth to. So it's just eating a cupboard and never used.

We have a Brindisi transverse bed and it was the shower that sold it for me. What I like on the Virgo shower room is the sink has been moved nearer the shower cubicle and that gives you more knee room when sitting on the toilet. The sink cupboard doesn’t seem to stick out as far also which means the room is a lot bigger, like it.

All looks lovely! One issue i would have is the absence of a front locker! I know it is a Bailey thing, but it is so useful on our current and previous vans to store things that are wet/damp, etc. & larger than the wet locker. Whether it would stop me buying a Bailey, i dont know, but it would be a consideration. (BTW I liked the oval mirror! )
@TheTrudgians
@TheTrudgians Месяц назад
The lack of a front locker is a huge milestone - it was an issue for us, however I don’t notice it now. In fact, this is a subject for future vid of ours - how we cope with no front locker. 👍
@rhinogooner

@@TheTrudgians When we got our Bailey I prefer the side gas locker. I always carry two gas bottles so that weight is not on the nose weight. With a front locker it could get a bit messy with the stuff you put in it do don’t miss it. But at the end of the day that’s just my preference.
@rich1ell
@rich1ell Месяц назад
The gas bottles over axle is great, Avondale did this. Unfortunately I keep lots more in my front locker than gas bottles, stuff that I don’t want in the living space. It’s a non starter for me.

Thank you for creating this first review of the caravan’s updated design from Bailey. May I ask, in the current climate, shouldn’t the R&D team come up with some creative solutions to owner’s current problems rather than , new decals, change of taps . Would it be more better to have one central command unit similar to Alexa or. Siri .. instead of cheap lighting remote and some led find me light switches .

Hi Dan. I would like to comment on the magnets on the door. We have just bought a new Swift and find these magnets way too strong as our old one had the latch system. The door locks onto the magnet with one hell of a bang, and closing it almost takes 2 hands to release, so leaning out of the van to close it is damn near impossible. I have stuck a self adhesive floor protecter that you put onto furniture feet on one of the magnets and now it is much softer closing and easier to open.
@mikeharvey9844
@mikeharvey9844 Месяц назад
Interesting and informative. Incidentally, my 2024 Phoenix GT 440 has magnetic door catches, and they are too strong to be able to close the door from inside. My large over head locker cupboard doors will not stay open either, I don't think the hinge springs are strong enough. Just got back from the first real trip, 2 weeks in France, and overall we are delighted.
@Rob-di7uu
@Rob-di7uu Месяц назад
@@mikeharvey9844 hi you mention magnets are very strong to close door, we have had these on Swifts for years. Quick fix, I stuck a furniture leg pad on magnet to increase gap, now closes easy and not so noisy. 👍

Nice looking vans , but what’s common on both that I don’t like is the embossed name on the outside, that’s just going to be a pain in the arse to clean, the cheap shower tray is also going to be a PITA & will probably get snapped off & hurt someone. The kitchen tap is a great idea.

Lovely caravans! The interiors are giving me "Alora" vibes 😂 I agree with you on the mirrors, not so keen, I feel the mirror in the Vigo bedroom should be more flat and on a tall cupboard door, however, I'd have to see it in person. I did wonder if the blue lit light switches dim the lights if you were to press and hold, like they do on some boats... I really like the exterior graphics and the raised Unicorn lettering, it certainly gives it more luxurious look. It's a shame they couldn't do anything with the area where speakers used to be, it reminds me of those blank buttons you get on a dashboard of a lower spec car. Interesting to see they've gone for a Thetford fridge, and did I notice the spot lights above the beds are now black? I look forward to having a wonder around one. Great video Dan. And just to say, we enjoy your holiday vlogs, just as much as your how-to and tips videos. Ash.

We have a Cabrera. Great to see Bailey adopting a magnetic door catch......existing latch has been a struggle leaning out to activate it. Wine rack replacement is a sensible improvement that still caters for bottle storage or expanded pantry items. And not pointed out....new Hekei mini hatch in shower - larger and more options to vent steam. Disappointing is no improvement to front windows: no fly netting and the main window is so heavy that it cannot be secured with existing stays - needs gas struts to enable it to be easily opened. We have a large square solid rubber piece that we use to hold it open. Bathroom toilet area has lost its window.....you need daylight in this area. And why don't Bailey at least provide the opaque film at purchase, even if you have to do it yourself! Rear " through-boot" is best feature of Cabrera as we can store our chairs, waste tank and table in this space. Makes up for no front locker. Thanks, Frank

Thanks Dan. Not a game changer for us and anyhow there does not appear to be a Cartagena in the range which is our preferred van. Somethings appear to be a backward step but I guess this will be a run-off model for the unicorn V. That fridge doesn’t have a cover over the salad box so you lose a shelf. I like the idea of greater control over the lighting but in my current van I have installed LED strip with full control. I’m pretty sure we won’t buy one as there is not a model that suits us on a twin, but I will definitely go and have a look at the NEC.

We currently have a 2023 Cabrera and love it. Some important points missed from your review though - the front blinds. These are a source of much frustration for a lot of Cabrera owners and it would have been good to see what the latest ones are like. Probably one long one from the top, with a fly screen from the bottom, I'm guessing, as this is what Bailey are replacing a lot with. Also, no washroom window. On the positive side, the wine rack is replaced with something useful and I like the funky tap. But, apart from that I'm not seeing any great Deluxe improvements, in fact the new look is in my view a dumb down and very grey, making me think of it as the Dulluxe. Not a fan of the black wheels or those chunky letters on the outside which will trap dirt and spiders and probably fall off at some point. The light buttons are a bit naff as well. Couldn't really see for sure, but it looks like the bedroom now has bedside drawers/low cupboards? Good idea if so.

I like the change to the bathroom, with the extra cupboard space, skylight in the toilet area and the high level break light and loss of the wine rack. If I had to choose between my 2023 Cabrera or the deluxe, I would choose the 2023. I Don't like the different colours to the cording on the sofas, the changes to the internal colours, changes to the wardrobes and the 3D lettering on the outside as it catches the dirt. Can't tell what the deluxe stands for in this van.

The new light switches I don't like.... might look to swap Evora kitchen tap out for one of these dual use ones.... would prefer outside gas point at the rear of the van.... not a lover of bbq in front of van door or by the "road", likewise outside power socket on right of the door more useful and flexible for when just a porch or smaller awning. Shower shelf... hmmmm... Loving the rear brake light.... again might consider retrofit to Evora.... Loved our Brindisi.. 2017/8 model.... jury still out on Evora except the space... Your next challenge Dan, find a decent bathroom sink we can swap out in Evoras!!! Another great video... thanks x

Replace top part & have someone hold it in place offer up the inner bit and replace three screws. Nb reason leak comes through light is it runs from this vent and through the wiring hole. Interesting choice to dump the radio. I wouldn’t really miss it but having Bluetooth speakers in built would be better. That Sonos won’t go to many 2nd hand buyers if you know what I mean. Tbh I’d be happy if they did away with all the TV points, they youn’uns are all streaming entertainment to tablets now. Good to see no 230v inlet in the awning. Shame there is no front locker, one of my big issues with modern Baileys. I hope they close off the bottom of the wardrobes with a shelf, you’ll loose stuff for ever down there. Baileys also used to have cables and connections accessible in the cupboards, I felt they could do better for that.

Completely triggered by the radii of he wardrobe doors and frame not being parallel, that would bug the hell out of me. Aft of the fridge just seemed to be design over function, tiny cupboard behind a huge mirror, bucket over the bog, switches too low? WTF? Low switches and high sockets in a building for accessibility, absolutely, no issues, but in a touring caravan? TV mounts, clearly I was not there so not sure, but it looked like with the TV mounted there would be cables dangling from the high level sockets? For me a quick release mount is pointless if I have to sod about hiding cables. If you are looking at brand new 'vans like these, you could be spending more than the value of your tow vehicle, making do with "stuff" that doesn't make sense, well it just doesn't make sense to me.

Firstly thanks for the walk through good coverage. Thinking still missing front locker for kit storage tools etc as per Bailey for several years. Wardrobes or excuse for wardrobes,again very little thought here, very limited in hanging length all being crumpled at the bottom as it narrows . 1st van wardrobe width cut narrow because of roof intrusion not sure if it’s hanger width even, 2nd van only half wardrobe on one side. Generally nice looking vans, but for their size lots of lost potential for storing clothing etc too many small little cupboard here and there of little use

I spy an underslung spare wheel.. very nice, i'm just struggling to see where this slots in the range? is it a between Alicanto and standard Unicorn? which begs the question did they need another range? I initially thought a non 8ft alicanto, but its not quite up to that level of spec is it?

Hi Dan, great video, we have a Cabrera. Lovely van but not much room around bed at night. Getting to the bathroom is a proper squeeze. Have Bailey sorted out that centre front window blind yet? Also the nose is very heavy, we have to load to the back to get it down to 100kg. Which is the limit to on the towball. Do you think it is still stable to tow with so much weight at the back? Hope you don’t mind the questions.

As a 2024 Cabrera owner I echo all your comments. It is SO nose heavy and te front blinds are awful! That said although the new model as useful features such as Sonos, wireless charging and pull-out rack vs wine rack, the loss of the bathroom window is a step backwards for us.

@@jonward542glad it’s not just me who thinks the nose weight is ridiculous. How do you find it to tow? Thinking of trading it in as not confident towing. Husband thinks I am worrying needlessly…

Dont like the painted black a frame cover makes it look cheap and think it will get dirty and scratched really easily

It’s not painted, it’s actually black plastic. Like the a-frames of the past 8 years or so on Bailey caravans.
