Gents, I'm in the golf, marathon training, hiking mindset at the moment.....BUT, timing is everything and you just made me think about my next pair of boards for the season. My buddy just purchased a pair of M Pro this past season after skiing an early mantra and is slowly working into them. I think the newer suppleness is a welcome addition to the line vs the previous expert only skis. Side note, I saw more M Free's at Alta/Snowbird than any other resort I skied this couple years. Well done and thanks for keeping snow sports top of mind. Enjoy the warmer months.

Great review as usual! 🤝🏻 Hope we will watch your review of the new M-Free 112 and the M-Free 108 with HC 2.0.

The mpro is such an underappreciated ski. I do think the outgoing version is a little demanding for the average person. But it's a really good choice for a one ski quiver for a lot of skiers. I personally like them best on a packed powder day. One of my favorite skis for those conditions. I love shifting my weight back a little bit and letting them run. The combo of rockered tip and strong/damp Construction just rip over everything!

The 100 sounds like a perfect fit for Lake Louise, I'm just not sure if I can justify having them alongside my DPS 100 RPC...

Well, there's only one way to tell. We totally support having multiple ~100mm skis and will never talk someone out of buying more skis.

How do.rhey compare to the Paragon? Also....dynastar m lines have some of the best overall bases of any lines....
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials Месяц назад
Shoot, you're totally right--we neglected to talk about the bases. Regarding Paragon, you're still getting more of an upscale and smoother feel out of the Kastle. 101 vs. 100, the Kastle is more confident carving a turn. I did feel that the tails of the new M-Pro weren't quite what I was expecting, but that doesn't mean they're bad--just a different style than the older 99. Paragon 101, no issues with confidence. That said, on most days and in most conditions, I would personally prefer the more agile and peppy M-Pro simply because it suits my style and needs. Similar discussion applies to the 93 vs. 94 since the only difference between the skis is width.

I like your comment “Dynastar is not getting much attention these days”. I’ve been skiing a Cham 97 2.0 as my daily driver and find it a very versatile ski. I was wondering if you remember that ski and could recommend something similar in a ski 100ish under foot. I recently purchased a Kendo 88 from you guys and am now looking for something to complete my two ski quiver. I have been considering the new Blaze 104 or Zipstick Black 102. I’m a New England skier 5’11 and 195 lbs.
@carterfan80
@carterfan80 Месяц назад
Blaze is a lot of fun as a soft snow ski. I owned the RipStik (non blac) also. I think the blaze is better in just about every way. Off Trail and on. If that helps..
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials Месяц назад
The Cham stood out as one of the first skis to use a very dramatic rocker profile and taper shape to achieve a shorter radius, allowing it to excel in both flotation and bouncier turns. DPS skis use a similar shaping technology, so the Kaizen 100 is worth a look. On the less expensive end, Salomon QST 98 and 106 also follow this style of footprint, with the 98 being the more dramatically profiled option--a wonderful floater, tree ski, and soft snow option. Blaze and Ripstick are both great skis, as indicated by @carterfan80, the Blaze does feel more energetic and complete of a ski than the new Ripsticks, both regular and Black Edition.

How does the Dynastar M-Pro 100 compare to the 24 Mindbender 99 ti
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials Месяц назад
The K2 feels heftier and more sluggish while the M-Pro has more pep and zest. The Dynastar is lighter and more agile but isn't quite as powerful and stable as the K2, especially in faster turns and more aggressive skiing.

M Pro 108 vs the older Declivity 108? What do you think?
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials Месяц назад
Oooh, good one. There's more tail rocker and taper in the older Declivity--I think that puts it in more of a creative category than the M-Pro 108, which does not really have much of a playful personality, nor is it very amenable to moderate speed skiing. Declivity is less athlete-focused so it will be better for more skiers while the M-Pro is far more business-like in its approach to big mountain skiing.
@Tirppa

Paragon 101 more chargier than the M-Pro now?
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials Месяц назад
I'd say so. Paragon is more confident and smooth while the M-Pro is poppier and more energetic. Different styles of skis for sure.

You recently reviewed a number of skis that are sort of in the same category. (90mm ish metal all mountain skis) imTrying to sort them out in my head. ( without getting out pen and paper😮) paragon, anomaly, mpro, and enforcer. Do you think you could just quickly list them in order of off trail preference to on trail preference ? I want something in this category that will be a little bit more stable than my volkl blaze 94 (which is amazing off trail), but still good in tight trees/bumps. Ive owned mpro and bonafide. Not what i was looking for. ( M pro was closer) love the mfree but think it underperformed on trail a bit. Wasn't a big fan of Rossi 94 ti.
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials Месяц назад
Going from off to on, in order of preference, keeping your Blaze in mind and with skis in the 93/94 mm range, I'd say: 1. M-Pro 94 2. Paragon 93 3. Anomaly 4. Enforcer You can reverse this list to prioritize on trail performance as well. Enforcer and Anomaly are very similar in terms of performance ceiling.

You guys didn't mention camber but there looks like more camber on the 94 than the 90.. It seams like less metal more camber.. Can you talk about that.. Does the new ski have more energy and it is more reactive? I did see a clip where there were a ton of people on the hill and then you talked about the M PRO 85.. I was originally thinking about getting a ski in the 95 waist width category but now I am thinking more about getting something in a smaller waist width for early season.. My old race skis are 70 waist width.. I have been looking at your videos on the Stockli AX and Stockli AR.. I know one has an 84 waist width and the other has an 80 waist width.. I even saw a couple videos of the WRT and that has a 60 something waist width.. The other thing is that I would probably go down in length.. My old race skis are 170 cm and that is probably about the length I would want when I am dealing with a ton of people on 1 run..
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials Месяц назад
The camber is pretty similar throughout both new and old models in their respective widths. I think that the new skis get a bit peppier more from the new core and shorter radius rather than any gigantic moves in camber profile. So yes, the new ski is more energetic and reactive than the outgoing models. The tail sturdiness is the bigger change here, as the older skis never even thought of washing out while you can get the new ones to slide and smear with greater ease, for better or for worse.

im m pro 90 and 99 mostly ski upper cham valley. Very Happy Happy bunny. 90s go to meribel for all that piste. i cant endlessly upgrade!!!!!
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials Месяц назад
If you're strictly on piste, it's fair to say that the new 94 isn't an upgrade. I think it's a more versatile ski and a rounder carver, but in no way is it higher performing or more grippy in a European on-piste application. Keep them sharp and you're on the better ski.

How does the M Pro 94 compare to the 24 Stance 90 and Declivity 92 ti for east coast
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials Месяц назад
The M-Pro is a bit more swervy than the Stance or the Declivity, which prefer a set edge and a firmer carve. The M-Pro likes to be at shallower edge angles and is more mobile and agile, despite being slightly wider. I think this sets it up as a better off-trail ski than the other two, with the Stance as the highlight model of these three for on-trail grip and performance.

M-Pro 108s look bomber! Are you going to review those? Have they changed from ‘24?
@SkiEssentials
@SkiEssentials Месяц назад
It's a new graphic for 2025, but the same ski. We don't usually have enough real estate to effectively test the M-Pro 108 here at Stowe, nor are there demos readily available as it's somewhat of a specialty item from Dynastar. For open zones and high-speed stability, they're at the top of the class.
