I'm glad you posted this so I can plan to buy another ST to keep in the garage while they're still available before these '25's come out. I KNEW they were going to screw up the redesign. That '25 ST is boring AF. The current generation is night and day sportier than all the other Explorers. The new one is tame and looks like the others. Those rims look cheap and weak, so hopefully they change those for the production model. The black roof option is a small plus, along with the upgraded computer for those not using CarPlay. But they didn't integrate the screen into the dash like the F-150? It still looks like they taped a tablet to the dash. And the tailgate sensor is legit. Big loss there. The rest of the differences are just little touches. I dunno man. I'm just not impressed. I was hoping for better.
I agree it should have better wheels on the ST and not share them with lesser modals. I do like the exterior styling. While the interior looks much better, You can't help but notice it didn't get the big infotainment screen available in China. That's a big disappointment.
I'm surprised nobody asked about the infotainment screen available on the China version and why we were left out. Everyone seemed wowed by the 13,2 screen that the Nautilus has had for 3 years. As nice as this is, it isn't as cutting edge as it should have been.
Wow, I can't get over how cramped feeling the Ford foyer looks. There was what like 5 feet between the front doors and the front desk? Definitely shows the age of the building there LOL. I wonder what that whole first floor looked like when that building opened back in the 50's.
Love the updates and the refresh. Waiting for the 2024 to drop. I still don’t know what color I want. One of my biggest gripes is that Ford is still using the black plastic wheel well. Makes the Explorer look old and outdated. Come on Ford get up with the times. Color matching the wheel well would’ve looked so much more nicer and aggressive. Dodge does it with the Durango, BMW, Mercedes even Mazda is even doing it on their new SUV’s. Also why aren’t they offering Brembo brakes? My wife leased a 2020 Explorer ST with the performance brakes, but they weren’t no Brembos. If you drive heavy on it like I do, the Rotor’s just don’t hold up after a while like Brembos rotors do. I have a 2018 Dodge Charger 392 and only had change my rotors once in 5 years. My brother owns a 2023 Dodge Durango R/T Tow N Go. It has the Brembo brakes and you can feel the difference. I wish Ford started using the Brembo brakes on the ST. But other than that, I love the truck. I loved driving my wife’s ST, it was very fast and handled well for a three row suv.
Nice informative video guys! I wonder if they kept some of the features from the 2020 like massaging seats, illuminated cupholders and the ST logo from the mirrors. Aside from that, a heads up display would have been nice. I do like the new infortainment system but was hoping it would look a bit more built in but all in all, a very solid improvement.
That is a beautiful vehicle. I hope that it turns out to be as good (mechanically) as it looks. If American car manufacturers were to focus more on making a mechanically reliable and easy to drive vehicle, the competition would not come close in quality.
Looks great but the single module running the dash and the infotainment does not provide a lot of redundancy in the event of a failure. The other issue would be the support electronics ran throughout the vehicle as well that could hinder the system like telematics modules for instance which are prone to failure across the ford lineup.
Hey Tyler, great review. Do you happen to know if the hood dimensions are the same on the '25? Just wondering if the I-5 hood will direct fit? Secondly, did they go with different mid-pipes to solve the flex rattle? TIA
Seems that they dropped options on the ST. Wasn't there a performance package with bigger fancy wheels and red brake calipers? I don't see any of that on build and price.
Fun Fact, i have Blue Cruise in my 2020 Explorer ST. It's called sticking a full water bottle in the bottom notch of the steering wheel :) Did this on a trip to Florida and it works great. ***Disclaimer, don't do this..
DO NOT TRUST FORD. I just ordered a 2023 Explorer. Ford changed the order without telling me or getting my approval. They deleted a $500 option but I still paid the dealer the full price negotiated that included that option. I've contacted Ford's customer service twice and the dealer several times and they said they are not going to help me. I wish I had gone with Toyota. Ugh.
@@66skate The dealer didn't delete the option, Ford did. Ford corporate, not the dealer, also communicated with me via email during the build but never mentioned the deleted option.
@@StephenThomas-lt6nv That's why it's the dealers fault. They are the one's following the order and supposed to tell you this stuff in case you want to change your mind. I don't know what the option was they deleted, but if it was a constraint, it was keeping the vehicle from being built
@@66skate The 360 camera was deleted. And I saw on several forums that it was a supply chain issue. But, Ford corporate never told me I accepted delivery because it has a camera in the front grill that's wired-in. When I couldn't figure out how to turn it on, I went back to the dealer and that's when they told me it was deleted. But, I got 5 or 6 emails from Ford telling me my car had been scheduled then telling me it was started, etc. I then got an email from Ford telling me it wasn't going to be built. Then, the next day, I got an email telling me it was being shipped. The communication problems are on Ford corporate since they were the ones contacting me.
