I have been ordering Hobonichi since 2017. I always get hyped this time of year. However it’s easy to overspend. So you really have to know what works for you first!!! Happy launch day.

Love what you shared on planner season fomo and consumerism but also the reminder of how it’s so normal to spend money on things we think and sometimes know we’re going to enjoy. And there’s so much knowledge to be gained through experimenting too! This was my first year ordering from Hobonichi and after some careful research I knew I needed to write down exactly what I’ve liked vs didn’t like using in the past as well to refine my orders into selecting a potential planner(s) I’d be both happy completing at the end of the year and even happy if I didn’t. I’m excited to see how you use your upcoming planners in the new year too! I’m planning on using a few Hobonichi weeks this year and a Take A Note A5 with the sterling ink booklets as supplement notebooks too 😊
so glad you enjoyed the video!! i was debating on whether i should or not cause wasnt sure if i was saying anything new. but i thought it would be a good reminder (even just for myself). did you end up preordering anything or are you waiting to purchase your journals later on? the sterling ink notebooks are game changers in my opinion haha

I’m glad you shared because it was a gentle reminder for me too and sometimes so needed when planner season can have one feeling the hype and excitement of seeing what others post online about their potential purchases for the coming year. I also liked how you made such a valid point that we’re still a whole 4 months away from 2025 and our thoughts are subject to change by then. I preordered from Take A Note today and I made my Hobonichi purchase yesterday at 6am pst. I was inspired by your video to select the TAN biweekly slim notebook too for project planning/content planning for next year as a supplement for one of the Hobonichi weeks I had selected. I really liked the idea of having two weeks side by side for an overview of my projects with my plan of using the weeks to break down the tasks into actionable bite size pieces. I also got a TAN A5 planner/journal too for logging astrology/affirmations. I did get a second TAN A5 for memory keeping too, though I thought of getting the A5 sterling ink daily notebook instead for that so we’ll see how that goes. Oh and an A6 version for work notes. Did you make your preorder too? lol I agree! I had gotten a bit ahead of myself last year and grabbed a few of her planners because my brain just works best with compartmentalizing different areas of my life per planner and I later realized for 2025 I’d have to downsize to a weeks size for planning and an A5 for memory keeping, but with the TAN A5, the pages are split in half per day so it’s not as overwhelming and I can supplement a thin notebook if necessary.
i always appreciate videos like this that validate the fomo while helping us feel like we don’t need to participate to still be part of the community! that being said, i will be placing a small order from a local shop for my hobonichi next year bc i use a weeks as a planner every year :3 thank you for a wonderful video!
i feel like the hobonichi weeks is that one journal i always try to stop myself from buying but have to get AT LEAST one every time 😂😭 you got the pistachio one, right? i think I remember seeing that in your IG story but I could totally be making that up 👀 (my memory is poop)
Really useful video, thanks for recording this. Luckily I know what works well for me so I'm going with an A6 Hobonichi original & cover to take with me wherever I go, and a companion B5 journal for long-form recording that will probably stay at home most of the time. Haven't decided yet what the B5 journal will be but I'm leaning towards a leuchtturm because I like the paper they use.
im so glad it was useful !! it's such a blessing to have a good grasp on what works- makes managing some of the fomo much easier. ooooh i've never used a B5 journal but was recently eyeing it for morning pages. did you have other options you were looking at aside from the leuchtturm?

ahhh thank you, Jennifer!! i wasnt sure if i was going to or not because i'm not super keen on the preorder hype and making people feel that need to jump on the wagon only because a lot of us are but figured that someone might get some use of it or enjoy hearing my all-over-the-place thoughts 🙈 I'm so glad to see someone else loving on the purple weeks !! I've hardly seen anyone talk about it (better for me so I don't miss out hahah) but it's so pretty !!
Thank you for making me feel better about missing some of the preorders 😅 I get why the preorders are starting early, but sometimes it’s just too early. Like why would I think about my 2025 planners in july? Also I would like to see all the options available out there before I order, so when a preorder is that early, I don’t think I can make an informed decision. I’m fairly certain I’m switching from the hobonichi cousin to the sterling ink for 2025, but idk I might change my mind at the last minute lol
haha i totally agree. its the battle for me of wanting the new shiny thing and then being scared ill make the wrong choice. just part of the process i guess 🙈 really loving the sterling ink journals!! i think they are a great altenative to hobonichi
