2025 Mini Countryman JCW: What's New?
The 2025 Mini Countryman JCW enters its third generation with significant updates. Notably, it has dropped the "Cooper" from its name. This new iteration features a revised engine delivering 312 horsepower, an increase of 11 horsepower from the previous model, although it does come with a slight reduction in torque. The exterior and interior have also received a refreshed look. Production for the U.S. market starts in March 2024, with deliveries beginning in early May.
Pricing and Trim Levels
The starting price for the 2025 Mini Countryman JCW is $47,895. The model is offered in a single trim level, making the buying process straightforward. Standard features include all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Buyers can choose from five different exterior colors to personalize their vehicle.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The Countryman JCW is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 312 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This model replaces the traditional eight-speed automatic transmission with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Paddle shifters behind the steering wheel allow for manual gear changes. The vehicle comes with all-wheel drive and JCW-specific suspension components, along with distinctive red JCW brake calipers.
Driving Impression
During our initial test drive in Portugal, the transmission’s responsiveness, particularly on downshifts, was impressive. The JCW’s handling is precise, making it enjoyable to drive on winding roads. The 20-inch wheels on our test vehicle did contribute to a firmer ride, but it was less harsh compared to the previous-generation model on rough surfaces.
0-60 MPH Acceleration
We estimate that the Countryman JCW will achieve 0-60 mph in approximately 4.4 seconds. This performance would match the previous-generation Countryman JCW, which was the fastest Mini we had tested. We look forward to verifying this with our own tests once the new model is available.
Interior Design and Comfort
Inside, the Countryman JCW features cheerful design elements and premium materials, particularly on the dashboard and door panels. Some lower areas use more plastic materials, but the overall ambiance remains upscale for its class. The infotainment display is positioned above the center stack in a distinctive circular housing, characteristic of Mini’s style. Bright stitching and various textures contribute to a sporty, race car-like feel. Passenger space is generous, with ample headroom and legroom for all but the tallest occupants, making it comfortable for extended drives.
