I always wanted one of the original Morris Minor cars. My cousin had a M Minor sedan and I had a '59 Renault Daphine at 12-13 yo to rip around on the trails in the woods, both rolled them over a few times, great fun back in the day.

20 Years ago there WAS a plan to resurrect the Morris Minor, at a time when retro models were in vogue (VW Beetle, Fiat 500, et al). MG Rover's collapse in 2005 put paid to that idea. However that time has passed, and there is no way that a retro Minor could be built on today's platforms.

I never call my cars names, to me a car is just a car until, I bought a Moggie 1000, he became Horace the Morris 😵‍💫. When they try and reinvent an Icon they often fall very short of the original. Not in this case, what a beauty. I would have one in an eyeblink, however, unless I won the lottery there is no way this beauty will darken my garage doorstep sadly ❤

First of all Morris no longer exists, it was stated in the video "that Morris etc", Morris was incorporated into BMC along with Austin, and other British marks. The car in the video also does not exist, other than on a computer screen. It's a concept, and if comes to fruition will probably be made n China.

In 1958 my dad rented a Morris Minor in Maastricht. I can still to this day remember the smell of the leather inside that car after it had warmed up in the sun. We went on a trip to Germany. I have a photo of that car from the trip. It's a good memory of a long time ago.

I'd take the old one every day of the week. No computer crap to go wrong every five minutes and with £30 worth of spare you could fix it by the roadside. This new one will need NASA computer to fix. Mind it's a mute point. This new one isn't going to look like this. No airbags, no roll over protection. Not compliant in the UK.

I draw your attention to one of the old car mags, a guy in the uk was given a mogi thou and he put a rover V 8 engine in it and fitted wide wheels to it and a little mod to it not a lot, and raced it against a Ferrari and he BLEW THE ARSE OFF IT ALL DOCUMENTED ,I think it was hot car 1972 ,but could be wrong some one will correct me Im sure

This car might look like a Morris Minor but it is not the simple car that made it the big success it was in the past. This is just another modern over engineered car with lots of gadgets, that will give the motorist more trouble than it is worth. Who needs a turbo charger in a car today when any decent 20 year old 1,6 ltr engine has more power than most people can handle. You are just selling us another speed boats for swimming pools.

The circle of confusion as a photographer may say. Its the manufacturers conundrum. Make it a reasonable updated copy, that means same shape modern safety and economical engine with good seats and minimal modern interior decor and inclusions. Price to sell for the mass market in economy. OR. Use the above body shell with alloy wheels and some very very American "go faster" stripes and/or louvres all over, cram the interior with lots of inferior everythings, bolt on a supercharger and do 130MPH and sell it up market. Umm..... only one is a true Morris Minor follow on and its not the American "go faster" one. Oh yeah. Its not really a Morris Minor you show, its a Morris Minor 1000. To be a real Morris Minor convertible it needs a split windscreen. Also an engine with a magnifying glass on top so you can find it.
