Ram is getting some big upgrades for the 2025 Model year trucks! New diesel engine and possibly a new gas engine? 8 speed transmissions will replace the older 6 speed 68RFE powertrain. This will be a huge upgrade for Ram owners!
‪@TFLtruck‬ also bringing some great content on this new potential Gas cummins engine.

@GORT70 I've seen pictures / specs. of the Cummins gas engine, which is going to be called the B6.7 octane engine. Inline 6 turbocharged DOHC dual cam phasers, GDI, aluminum head, and NO EGR! Base engine will be very similar to the diesel, just a piston change. Emissions will be one single three-way catalyst behind the turbo and that's it! I REALLY hope they offer this engine in the RAM truck! I saw ratings of up to 325HP & 660lb.ft. of torque which would destroy any other gas engine in the towing department.

The problem with the new cab is they don’t have a single cab configuration for it, and many companies buying them for fleet vehicles want a single cab. It’s the same reason the 1500 classic is still being built, to provide a single cab option to fleet buyers. So unless they come up with a single cab version of the new cab, or come out with an entirely new cab altogether, I don’t see the current cab going away anytime soon

In my opinion, beings that stellantis is focusing extensively on CAFE numbers and pretty much nothing but inline 6 engines now. It would make sense to me if they put the HD ZF behind one single high output Cummins Diesel and the already outgoing ZF behind a gas Cummins. Main reason for that is because the smaller ZF is made to handle a lot more RPMs than what the big one can

I don't know where that picture of that 6.7 gas engine is from but that is an X series engine that will not fit in the Ram pick up truck. That engine is designed for the big trucks. The torque output ranges from 1450 - 2050 lb ft. That amount of torque would destroy the Ram chassis. Also when you search Cummins website for a 6.7 gas engine nothing pulls up. Plus I work at Cummins and there has been no talk of a gas engine floating around but I will poke around and see what I can find. I'll update this comment if I find anything out.

173k miles flawless miles on my 68rfe trans. Towing 30 foot fifth wheel with a 21 foot ski boat behind it all over west side of US. Tows like a dream. The thing i love most about the 68 is i can pull it rebuild it and have it back in the truck in a day. I have been a ram diesel mechanic for 10 years and have seen more Aisain transmissions fall apart than the 68. Usually 68 issues are valve body related most the time. People have given it a bad name but with minor changes it can be pretty bullet proof. Also i run a 200 horse tune with stage 1 80 horse injectors. Truck runs and drives amazing and pulls hills like it's unloaded. Had it 6 years now. Always starts and is always ready to pull anything ( and j do mean anything) without issues. @@garreysellars5525 No doubt. However, with the insane prices on emissions laden diesels, combined with sometimes iffy emissions systems, a 6.7 gas torque monster would be a VERY nice alternative. It’s drop-in ready to go, really needs emissions testing. And, since it’s a 6.7 Cummins, turbo setups will be simple. A turbocharged 6.7 gas would destroy anything in overall use. May not rev as fast as a typical gasser but it would be rock solid.

I've owned 5 Dodges/Rams in my life (1 being a Cummins) but after the transmission went out in my 2018 gasser and Ram "doesn't have a single assembled replacement transmission available in the country and there are hundreds of people waiting for them to catch up" so now I have a damn $50k paperweight in the driveway with NO ETA, I can't support them any longer.
