What's not to like. Good AWD system (break vectoring), reliable, with good resale value. It's comfortable, spacious, and safe. The only competition in this category is from Honda and Mazda. It's not fast and sexy but it's practical. Good buy for the money.
I dont know much about Subaru, I do know that in Vermont, New Hampshire, Colorado, and North Carolina, I saw them everywhere. In Florida, not as much. There must be something about them to love.
Haha yea my friend it was autoshow week and manufacturers introduced a lot of new models so you will be seeing a lot of new car vids during this time. However, I'm over these SUVs & EVs, want to cover something that's actually cool 😅
Same old engine. They need to go back to having a Turbo to give it some power. I used to love the Forester when it had the Turbo. I now have a 2021 without the Turbo. This one slugs along. Horrible…
Subaru seats have been comfortable from when I sat in them at dealerships over the years. The base - mid RAV 4 so far has been the worst I've sat in. Nissan Rogue has good seats also. Trust my ass, it knows.
@@corwind3888 to also quote Special Agent Mulder, "trust no one" and "the truth is out there". I like a comfortable car, it is a must. Hard seats are something you don't get use to.
Totally disagree - much safer on the passenger side and as an added bonus, easier to find an available pump in a crowded station since most cars have the fuel door on the driver side.
Sadly these cars are under rated as they're honestly some really good cars and here in Aus, you get looked after too if something goes wrong, the Forester is pretty popular here too.
@MeynMotorGroup Thanks for asking, it's finally stopping hurting, I just get a twinge now and then but it took 17 days of pain to get here but I'm so relieved
I like the front end redesign. Compare it to the 2024 F150 front end. Looks very similar. I also like the side rear glass area redesign. Looks much more vision friendly than the 'wedge' shape of the previous models. I think the 2025 is a home run. Prepare to pay MSRP+ for the 2025 as they will sell fast.
@jamesrichardson559 I highly doubt there will be markups on a Forester. They are just not that sought after, especially with no hybrid option. Having said that, we are considering the new sport trim as our next vehicle.
I have bought the last great forester sport 2024,The 2025 FORESTER looks like Ford Toyota Kia It doesn't have what sets Subaru apart from the rest ,,,tooo bad.😵
I love the new 25 Forester, but I have less than 14K miles on my Forester Touring and the CVT already has to be replaced. This is my first Subaru so with the major problems I’m having with my POS , then as soon as the transmission is replaced I’ll sell my Forester Touring and go back to Toyota. As far as I’m concerned, Subaru can go 🖕🏽 themselves
@@MeynMotorGroup They also say that the torque will come on at earlier RPMs. If so, you will likely notice that more than the 2 less HP an 2 extra ft/lbs of torque.
I recently purchased a 2023 Subaru premium Forester. In a matter of speaking you can say blindly bought it, I didn’t test drive any other car. The reason why is because I’ve owned a 2010 and a 2011 premium Subaru Forrester. And I was very happy with the two of them. The 2011 Subaru Forester lasted me 11 years 166,000+ miles. After about a month and a half with the 2023 and about 16,000 miles on it, mostly City driving, I’m disappointed with it. The number one reason I’m disappointed is because I cannot find a comfortable driving position, whether it’s adjusting the telescope steering or moving the seat to different positions. I think part of the problem is that it’s minus the driver side right armrest. The other reason is that the driver seat is not comfortable at all. It feel that I’m sitting on a very old sofa chair with the springs on the verge of piercing the cloth, causing me noticeable discomfort on the buttock. My wife suggested getting a seat cushion, personally unacceptable solution. The horn sounds cheesy, (and having taken defensive driving for many years the horn is an important safety communication feature use correctly.) Nitpicking a little bit the Sound system is inferior to my previous Foresters. And mating my iPhone via Bluetooth-for the exception of music playback its does a poor job of it, actually “pissed of job” of identifying my contacts on the phone. Calling a number it may do so the first time, and then calling the same number again a short time later the program would say, it’s not in my contacts. I also get the feeling the car is not solidly built. I’ve heard some noises in the cabin from mechanical moving parts, noticeably after shifting gears from drive to park or vice versa. The engine is noticeably loud unlike my two previous Foresters. Where for the first 20 to 30,000 miles I couldn’t tell if the engine was on or off in the indoor parking garage. I feel that for Subaru to keep up with the modern features on other cars they compromise cosmetic quality, both inside and outside, and just maybe mechanically.
I bought the 2024 Crosstrek with the 2.5 engine, it produces the same torque as the 2025 forester engine, 178 lb ft at 3700 rpms but hp is 182. The engines should be the same you would think unless the tune has been changed to increase mpg?? The 2024 Outback with 2.5 only has 176 lb ft of torque at 4400 rpms like the 2023 engine in all the previous Subaru’s. Torque is power and that figure is more important then hp and coming in at a lower rpm will help the underpowered Subarus. My Crosstrek is lighter then the Forester and feels very good as far as power goes and is so agile and nimble feeling.
They offer it in other Countries however many reviewers have said there is not a huge real world fuel economy benefit going with the Hybrid and most shoppers are better off saving their cash and go with the regular engine which surprised me
In the middle of watching, but they need to spice up that power train to stay competitive. Kevin, is there any market for cars without all encompassing software / infotainment systems? Great review!
Honestly my most favorite tech implementation has to be Mazda. I love their simplistic non distracting screens. I don’t think there’s a new car on sale that doesn’t have an infotainment since these corps want to track us and sell our data
we purchased the 2024 Forester Base, This car gets no where near the stickered MPG! If anybody knows of a class action litigation, let me know as we would like to join! anybody else have this problem?
I had an older model Subaru and was disappointed in the lack of power even with a manual transmission. I do like the new design a lot but having only 180 hp with a CVT would not be acceptable. One very trivial thing is the design pattern on the dash which I’m not a fan of. The biggest concern I have is the continued use of the boxer engine but I guess that’s a distinctive feature for them which is not going to go away. Despite excellent visibility I’ll pass. Thanks!
Yea my friend the Boxer engine design and how low they’re able to mount these engines is certainly something Subaru is proud of. I just replied to another owner in the comments and he too was not a fan of the power however, the masses seem to not care or even like fast cars and the comments I have gotten over the years seem to prove that. For those that Love Subaru and want some power, they can Step up to the Outback Turbo but it’s not the same in terms of the Greenhouse the Forester offers.
@@MeynMotorGroup I didn’t know the Outback was available with a turbo! I was talking to an owner with a new Outback with the 2.5 liter and he mentioned the lack of power which would be worse in a larger vehicle. I don’t follow Subaru anymore because of past experience. Thanks!
It´s very disapointing to see what Subaru brings to the table these days, same old things and stuff. I think it´s slowly time to wake up for this brand and they must watch what the other brands can bring for new cars. Thanks Kevin 😀
I think the old school approach is why wealthy people love these so much and gets great resale value. People buying into this brand know exactly what they’re getting without any gimmicks (although their infotainment can be a turn off for some)
Given what an insanely loyal base Subaru has and their willingness to pay whatever the dealers want, it is a guarantee Subaru would only change their products once forced to. Which appears not any time soon, if you are not their core customer base. Not that bad a decision to stick with what they know their customers want than self-destruct by trying to pander to customers who never demonstrated a desire to buy in the first place.
Surprised you didn't mention anything about the engine? I have a 2019 sport and while the engine power is adequate most of the time, as soon as there's a few passengers or I have to put on the air conditioning the acceleration gets pretty lethargic. Why Subaru refuses to put the turbo engine in the Forester is beyond me. I'm slightly claustrophobic so the visibility and headroom are the number one selling points for me. Every other vehicle I get into feels cramped and claustrophobic compared to the Forester.
I spoke on the engine updates towards the end my friend. I didn’t dwell on it too much but in the past when I review eco cars and say pretty much the same things you’re describing, I get push back from eco car owners saying things like “why does an economy car have to be fast or drive well?” I’ve gotten so much of this in the comments that I believe the average person is just allergic to HP & speed and car companies probably know this better than us which is why they don’t even try. In fact some people might even be happy that this has 2 less HP than before. I’m not trying to facetious. Subaru lovers can step up to the Outback Turbo but will lose out on the greenhouse the Forester has to offer.
Sorry...my bad. You're right, I'm in the minority of Forester fans that's begging for more horsepower. It's too bad because I love mostly everything else about the car.@@MeynMotorGroup
@@chrisbianchi8876 I agree my friend I’m surprised they never introduced the turbo engine for the Forester, perhaps they will release one next year but we will have to see
