When did wagon become a bad word in cars? I have had a station wagon for years and it is a god sent. I can haul so much stuff and people, it is fun to drive. The whole shaming of cars is why we are paying top dollar for oversized non practical cars.

I'm currently car shopping - and honestly wish there were more wagons and hatchbacks. But, I agree with the comments - I don't know why people in North America hate on wagons so much. They are phenomenal and much better than all these weird small SUV's with basically zero trunk space

Compare to SUV with similar size, they're generally pricier, and back seat is tighter due to the middle seat hump.

I agree. Companies push SUVs over wagons and hatchbacks in USA because SUVs are classified as light trucks and have easier regulations, especially for fuel economy.
@garyross7496
@garyross7496 3 месяца назад
They don’t. Automakers don’t want to make wagons because CAFE emissions requirements are more lax for crossovers. If there was sensible legislation for tailpipe emissions in NA, you’d see wagons everywhere. But our government is designed to be ineffective and corporations are designed to make money.

Yes, station wagons are back! I like that it is less boxy, much lower (though I did like being up high for visibility) and this really should have car like dynamics since it is a car in wagon form). It's time to stop pretending that we're "active" people, we are not, we go shopping and haul the offspring to their games and practices. The Venza that this is replacing went up $5K in the last 3 years without any upgrades and this is another $5K or more than the Venza so Toyota can maintain their position as the most profitable car maker in the world and it's less efficient on top of that. All that said, STATION WAGONS are back baby, finally getting what we actually need rather than the pretentious "tough off roaders" that we NEVER actually used. The few that do will buy the 4 runner.

This has actually become not just a Crown that I actually like but one of my favorite SUVs ever. Look, I want my cars to be nice enough, and this is nice enough :), with lots of space and practicality while being a hybrid so you get decent MPGs and it's comfortable, plus, it should be reliable because it's a Toyota. So personally, I don't need my cars to be nicer than this if that means massive price and weight hikes, plus, most premium SUVs tend to have harsher suspension because they like to pretend they are sporty but that doesn't speak to me, if I want a sports car I would just buy a sports car :) So yeah! This is pretty much perfect for what I would want in an SUV so I LOVE it (Despite the CUV sound 💀)

It would be nice if Toyota made the Signia actually look like a wagon instead of guessing if it's a CUV/wagon. I'm not sure about sales if the made a CUV or wagon. Their lineup of crossovers is expansive: Corolla Cross, bZ4x, RAV4, Signia, 4Runner, Venza, Land Cruiser, Highlander, Grand Highlander, and Sequoia. Toyota has sedans, hatchback, crossovers, minivan, trucks, and sports cars. Having a wagon could help not only diversify their crossover-heavy lineup but have different, yet practical body style for those who are tired of seeing crossovers/SUV's.

Something that always drives me crazy about Toyota is they never provide a combined torque figure for their three motor hybrids. I’m not sure if there just isn’t a great way to do it with the way their hybrids work, but given the performance I would just assume it’s competitive with the competition. It’s likely this has about as much torque as a Santa Fe hybrid, Sorento hybrid, etc

This is really just a wagon or hatchback .. For the Crown Signia, Toyota made the same major mistake they made for the canceled and discontinued Venza. It has a very low roofline, just like the Venza. This low roof results in poor outward in all directions (Not good for safe driving or driving enjoyment).. and a lower roofline gives this Crown a low caved in feeling, and cramped interior.. Why can't Toyota and Lexus make one or two SUV vehicles with a higher roofline, taller and big windows for good visibility and interior comfort?? It would be a really nice if they would have made it an SUV by raising the roof about 3" to 4" inches.. That would improve outward visibility and make the cabin much more comfortable and airy. If you and/or passengers are over about 5' 8" - I would not recommend this one.. We are Americans and American people are taller and larger than the shorter, smaller people in Japan.

The Sigina is a wagon and it is not a replacement of the current Venza which is a true SUV. The current Venza competes with the Lexus NX and not the Sigina. The Sigina is much bigger and longer than the NX. Its size is closer to the RX. The Sigina is a luxury raised wagon and I am not sure how well it is going to sell. Toyota can call it a CUV, SUV or they want. A pig with lipstick is still a pig. A raised wagon is still a wagon. They should have bought the “Crown Sport”, a genuine Crown SUV in Japan, to the North America market and not a wagon.

It looks so much better lowered to wagon height. I hate the hybrid engine CVT though. It's primarily why I dislike all the new Toyotas. Their entire lineup is merging into the same car with little variations. If they dropped the crown to wagon height and put in their 2gr-fe then it'd be the fun, Dad car that nobody is making.

at the rate we are going I have to question why is Toyota bringing soo many different cars to the market, more specifically a car built in Japan, which I assume in reality it will cost more than a toyota car built in America. Acura bets watch their steps and get more into deeloping cars that can compete with the Toyota variety. At this point Toyota is kicking ass with the array of cars they have at dealerships, Nissan will be ut to sleep soo as there is no way they can compete with Toyota. great video and great review!
