Unfortunately as long as people are desperate enough to pay it dealers are gonna charge it. If the car sat and nobody paid markup they would stop. People are desperate and bad with money. People were buying Auto versions of the regular GR86 even though they wanted a manual and paid markup because they "wanted the car now" that's the people driving markups on cars that wouldn't have had it before
@@ftr911drvr the men in power dont want care ownership, they are attacking the auto industry with inflation and mandates for electric cars nobody wants. This is attack against humanity
Toyota is just on FIRE! I LOVE the improvements they have made on the GR Corolla and I LOVE the improvements they have made on this GR 86 Hakone Edition. These cars are absolute GIFTS to the everyday working-class enthusiast. I am taking none of it for granted and hope to get one soon. Dealer mark ups have to be controlled because they will continue to kill the momentum of these amazing cars.
Agreed, love a good green. Just saw a BZ4X today in what looked like a very similar green and a Cadillac Lyriq just a few cars away in a very very dark green which also looked beautiful.
Happy to see a nice 4k image with this car lit properly. Production team did a good job on this. Thank you. All the videos out of Japan look horrific and you can't tell what the color actually is. Turns out it's stunning!
My friend had an early model that he modded with turbo and suspension bits, upgraded clutch etc… it was friggin impossible to drive and not really fun but fast. He now has a new one, factory in every way and it is a much better car. If you have room in your stable for an affordable fun sports car that will carry you and your tooth brush, this should be on your list to try out
I absolutely love this car, the GR 86 is to me the greatest car on sale this side of a 911 or Cayman GTS 4.0. But I'm telling you, the GR 86 and GR Corolla are some of the most fun cars out there and Gazoo Racing is the GOAT.
Not sure why she says she wouldn't normally look at a GR86. It's a great looking car in a bunch of colors (including this one) The GR86 looks amazing in red, white and Trueno blue. The BRZ looks awesome in Subaru's famous World Rally Blue Pearl. Toyota/Subaru should absolutely ditch black and give us some more fun colors. Only 3% of people choose black for this car (compared to around 20% for most cars). I shouldn't complain though, I am thrilled the make the car at all. Half the price of a base Porsche and twice as fun as a Civic Si.
@@kbb "If I saw this driving down the street I would definitely take a look at it and I can't normally say that about the GR86" From 2:58. Happy to see the video though, it's the best coverage of this Hakone available.
It was only supposed to be a quick one-take overview. Gotta be succinct when you've got 10 minutes with a car. Hopefully Toyota will give us more time in the near future to drive it.
I find the dealer markup on cars to be just insulting. There is no car that I'd pay those huge fees for. And few dealers that I'd return to if they tried pulling that shit on me.
@@Bmontepeque11 ??? Are you nuts? Supra, Z, Corvette, Mustang, etc etc. Yes it's a light weight sports car and great as it is but since day one people have asked for a turbo model. You can have more than one trim level you know.
@@SSS-mp8th turbo it yourself, would run you about 10k. Leave NA RWD manual cars to people who like them. There is a reason why boxster/cayman with turbo 4 are not as in demand as NA 6.
You buy this for the handling which would be ruined with more weight on the nose of the car. I'm willing to bet you haven't driven it. It's quick enough for sure.
Better off foing with the base model with an performance package. It wont be marked up as much as the the special editions and theres more out there to choose from.
They were literally no different than just the badging. And actually if you didn’t know it was only the FRS in the US market everywhere else it was the GT86 when it came out in 2013.
After so many years of upgrades but yet still refuse to add a turbo, really disappointed, maybe should wait for the "Sillycar", I heard it is turbo charged.
@@TH-1988 neptune 2.0 is dropped, the green is replacing it for 2025. it's already dropped from 2025 Japan site, and green took its spot. will probably reflect in use site once updates 2025 on there
Nope. BRG is a darker green that almost goes to black in certain light. Remember green is made up of yellow and blue so she's not wrong, there is some blueish tint in there but yeah it's not quite teal either.
I really think if you see it in person you’d see what she’s talking about. No camera’s white balance and TV screen or phone can display the color as properly as real life. ijs.
toyoda subaru crap Subaru designs and builds the 2.4-liter, four-cylinder, horizontally-opposed boxer engine for the Toyota GR86. The engine is called the FA20D and has a Toyota engine code.
Miata is even more expensive (at least the highest spec/trim) & it’s slower. Not to mention it looks hella feminine lol. I’ll give it the reliability point tho.
@@CarsOverPeople yes it more expensive cuz ur buying quality, feminine? I wouldnt say that but even so i rather that with beautiful aluminum parts underneath then the other one that doesn’t know what it is is it a Toyota? Is it a Subaru with stamp Steel arms
It already has 250 hp, any and all dynos confim that, and a turbo? Nothing shall ruin natural aspiration, you want a turbo there is the GR Corolla and GR Supra 2.0 for that, this is better in some regards because it's Naturally Aspirated.
