boynextdoor actually have mentioned that they've sung live in all performances from debut till now. they practice with hand mics usually because thats what they're comfortable with, and in encores they've also changed a few notes here and there, along with adlib whistiling + changing the lyrics to "onedoor boo my sweetie darling think i love you more" do give them a listen yall! you wont be disappointed

Despite the ongoing SM groups not singing live (including RV Chill Kill comeback), at least Wendy’s comeback (Wish you hell) is truly live.

I feel like in several of these that are clearly live (LSF, ATEEZ) it's really clear that either live or post-production autotune has been applied in certain places. I feel like that's another layer of the "is it live" debate we'll see more and more, especially on non-traditional music shows

The onf performance is clearly live because it's unedited. And the voice sounds real. Which the previous performances didn't sound like because of backing tracks or lowered mix volume. Like honestly people we can differentiate live stuff trust yourself. You can discern the difference. The thing is while chasing perfection performances lose their authenticity. Which is what we have an issue with

Not only did aespa lip synced on mnet on top of that the whole stage was messy. If you looked clearly you would notice how their lips won't match with the song. And the biggest reason behind it was probably the fire that broke out on mnet that day.

going as far as deliberately adding several details to a set of pre-recorded vocals like that impromptu line of a member abruptly hyping up the audience to create an illusion of a real live instead of just...doing a real live, is just so so incomprehensibly grimy to me. that is literally as soulless as a performance can get. using artistic freedom and integrity as a selling point while only providing facades of those things, insane.

Kpop companies and music shows are so funny like the give they idols handheld microphones knowing fully well no/not much live vocals will be heard lol.

ahhh finally some onf content in these videos!! they deserve to be hyped up for their amazing live singing and just their artistry in general. truly one of the best groups in kpop and it sucks not a lot of people know them. Babymonster most performances weren't live yg pre-recorded it to create an illusion that they are not lipsyncing like skipping words(metal,sheesh) And ahyeon mouth shape doesn't match with the high note

In IVE's case it's kinda tricky cuz all the music shows have different sound system quality and you can 'hear' it in every single performance. I would think it was live though cuz it seemed to be a progression of getting more comfortable with the song during live. In M countdown they barely sang, in Music Bank they sang a bit more, Music Core was heard almost half of the song live but with heavy backtrack, and finally in Inkigayo was mostly live, loud and clear I could be wrong tho

Ateez just performed the same song at the University festival. It was definitely live (with backtrack). I do think Immortal songs does not allow lip sync (they do allow back track) but the probably do post editing. Yunho has hella stable vocals though (check out the Halazia encore where he is bouncing on a bouncy ball and singing). Wooyoung’s projection is much better with the hand mic which he’s using all the time now but I feel like sometimes his vocals get over run by back track. The Immortal songs makes me want to check to see if they have a fixed cam version or some fan cams because post editing is rarely done on them for standard music shows.

I'm here for illit and their progress. It hasn't even been 4 months yet after their debut, and i can't wait to witness more of their growth. I hope they won't allow the mean comments disguised as "const. criticism" to affect them.

I think it goes without saying that slaymixx, sorry nmixx can be trusted to bring insane vocals to the table, LIVE. I've been watching the university festival videos, and omg, I'm in awe. You can tell by watching that they're singing live, and still stable while dancing to their difficult asf choreos. That's not just talent. That's training, passion and dedication! I wonder how they train though, because it working!. I heard Beyonce sings while running on a treadmill to enhance her vocal x dance performance. That's not easy 😢 These girls are so doing so damn well! Nmixx, vocal powerhouse, pride of Korea!

I remember commenting that the aespa performance looked very prerecorded because everyone in the comment section was legit was praising them for "singing live". The amount of times I got called a hater... A toxic my literally said I was "overanalyzing" and no one has time for that

I think considering what is proven in this video of closed, controlled sets still being lip sync heaven, LE SSERAFIM singing 100% live in the desert with their full-blown choreo was a giga-slay. stability issues happen to groups even while they are just two-step, spirit finger dancing with a strong backing track. Maybe the real lesson is do dumbed down girl group level choreo when live and do their real choreo when not.

Ateez recently performed their Zil Poong Ka Do cover at Yonsei University Festival (on 26th May 2024), and all of them used hand mics. They minimised the dancing when it's their singing part, so all of them sound good and stable. Also, I fully agree that there are post editings even in Immortal Songs because some parts sounded too polished(?) to me, so that's why I prefer and recommend watching their performance at Yonsei :)

The fact that BONEXTDOOR Woonhak was off beat all the time in this performance is because his earpieces stopped working mid performance (you can see that he took it off) so he was singing without hearing himself at all

Something that frustrates me, especially with baemon stans, is that they brag about their live vocals, but when others mention that they might not, in fact, be live at all of their performances, their stans act like ppl are questioning baemon’s talent. Such a strawman argument. Like, it’s possible to be capable of singing live and still not sing live all the time (or at least be edited). And that’s what babymonster did. They sing live often, but not always. That’s a fact, not an attack on babymonster. All groups do it, and baemon isn’t an exception just because they’re from YG. These girls are so talented, but pretending that we’re always hearing them live and unedited is just going to hurt them in the long run. Because when they do concerts some day, people will start saying that their vocals used to be better, their vocals in “sheesh” don’t sound like they used to, etc. because fans can’t tell the difference between live and edited/pre-recorded singing.

This video just shows that it’s sometimes OK to have imperfections in a live performance, it gives the performance character and life, it’s one of the reasons I like hearing iroha sing in magnetic, you can always hear the sounds from her performing, it’s so cool! Thanks for this video, it helps me differentiate live from lip sync better 🫶

For me i dont have problem with lipsyncing on music show. I dont really see the need to singing live, they pre recorded it from morning, 4 times a week or even 6 times. And theres not many live audience.

The standard of some kpop fans is insane. they demand stable voices while doing the whole choreo. It's not possible. Anyone would be like LSF on Coachella week 1 if they perform lot of songs without any backtracks or autotune while doing the whole choreo. that's why live performances with choreo every kpop group use backtracks, vocal splits, lip sync. they only sing the parts where the choreo don't have lot of movements. the parts they can sing confidently without shaking. Or the person who is singing in that moment won't dance or reduce movements while others continue the choreo (This is how Ateez did it in coachella and the last group in this video did). And in LSF second week at coachella, you can clearly see that they had reduced the choreo movements and intensity to prevent getting tired. And they used the backtracks. (don't know why it was so low on week 1. couldn't even hear it) this is how it has been since the beginning and will be forever. It will be so perfect everyone understand this like you. thanks for sharing

I don't blame any artist, the reason why many groups that know how to sing lipsync is because of the fans' demands to be perfect, this has become very toxic, why not just worry about enjoying the performances instead of obsessing and Point out every mistake. Do we do everything perfectly in every area of ​​our lives?

My suggestion is to go and watch the "fancam"/직캠 that the same shows upload either in the same channel or a secondary one (they can be the general ones for the whole group or the ones focused on a specific member). These are the recordings of just one camera and it has the raw audio from said camera. In many of these shows, there is a post-production or real-time filter on, therefore the singing + track tends to sound more combined and even. Sometimes in the performances, you can barely hear the live singing, but if you check these fancams it is more noticeable that there are 2 different sounds. You should be able to detects if there is a track + mics, because both sound different in quality, volume, and so on. I would best describe it as the backtrack feeling in the back (lol) whereas the mics sound more present, prominent, and in the front. Even if it is a realistic pre-recording that isn't actually live (but sounds live because it was technically recorded live beforehand), this prerecorded track will sound in the back as well (the same as the original track, the back-track or an instrumental). You should be able to notice the parts (usually choruses, high notes, or hard choreo parts) where someone sings just a portion and lets the backtrack do the rest. This is something that happens a lot in shows like masked singer, immortal song, produce 101, boys/girls planet, and the like, where the artist might sing pretty live with "imperfections", yet the transmission has post-production effect or live effect that smoothes and corrects the sound. If you're a fan of survival shows like boys/girls planet, I highly recommend you to check the 직캠, especially for the auditions.

Guys, music shows need to be recorded a lot of times to show every angle of the member of the group. Which means they will have one live performance and the rest are pre-recorded voice. Next is the editing part, so the uploaded video will be a mix of live performance and pre-recorded voice. So you would notice, that some parts look live and some parts are lip-sync.

I don't know why but Riwoo's voice crack on "lady" honestly makes the song 10x better

All music shows are using pre recorded audio. It's only a matter of whether they use AR (pre-recorded singing, different from studio, sometimes singing over the studio version) or simply the studio version. The only exceptions are two: Encore and Special stage. Which they usually arrange differently. Some still use AR, some 100% live. My issue is this: "oH, tHiS vIDeO iS pRe rEcOrDeD, sO tHeY mUsT bE lYpSyNC". Nope. They can still sing LIVE when they do the performance. Even though later on the music show or the company decided to edited the video using pre-recorded vocal. Some people use this argument to look down on the groups are just simply ridiculous, esp for groups that have proven again and again that they are more than capable of singing live. As If it's a "gatcha" moment. 🙄 So, yep. Those performance CAN BE LIVE. The video was CLEARLY EDITED ^^

IVE most definitely sings live most of their performances, they just sing over a backtrack which most kpop groups do. Some parts might be too low for the MR to pick up. Them singing live is especially evident if you listen to their Heya performance. From what I hear in the MR removed they sing certain parts and then rely on the backtrack for certain parts.

ive sang live a LOT for heya, theres many performances you can watch eg their university festival performances or their first mcountdown stage for heya. makes sense why they gave it a break for accendio and im glad. they are continuing their world tour soon and i cant wait to hear accendio live there where they are probably much more comfortable and more well rested! maybe biased but ive will always be one of my most favorite performers in kpop ever for their live singing, stage presence and dancing.

I think it is pretty easy to tell if they are singing or not when you compare something from that group that you know is completely live and then compare it to the performance you are considering. No matter how good the group is (like nmixx, aespa, BM) you can tell everyone has to deal with the physics of motion, moving mics, energy output, etc. so there is no way a performance can sound completely perfect but due to these factors. Another possibility could be they sang live and then edited the vocals later which then it can be harder to tell (example is blackpinks first Coachella you can tell they edited the vocals later when you compare the fancams at Coachella vs the video that was put up later by blackpink official channel). Sometimes fancams can show the truth

You can tell a few groups suffer from edited performances for youtube. While audiences will always be able to tell if a group is singing or mot cause theyll hear it. A youtube video can easily have autotuned vocals or mixed backtracks thus making it hard to tell if its lip sync or not. Sometimes its a mix like lesserafims case some its just lip sync in aespas case

Finally someone that can actually hear and see things right. Pre recorded vocals are so obvious to me i don’t know how people falls for it everytime
