Jack's Mannequin is Andrew McMahon's solo band, while Andrew McMahon is simply a member of something Corporate. since this song belongs to Something Corporate, which Andrew is a member of, than that would mean Jack's Mannequin is performing it as a cover, regardless of whether the song's writer is a member of the band or not. if Slipknot plays a Stone Sour song, even if the writer is in both bands, it's still a cover.
Jack's Mannequin is his solo project featuring some friends from high school, and on a few album tracks, Tommy Lee. realistically, though, the two bands have different, though similar, sounds. I'd classify Something Corporate as pop punk, and Jack's Mannequin as piano pop.
Actually Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin are the same band in a sense. Same lead singer. They are both his bands. Something Corporate was formed in 1998 and later down the road in 2004 Jack's Mannequin was formed as a side project by Andrew McMahon.
its not a cover because the same lead singer/ writer is in both bands. its live so he probably changed it up to give the audience a unique experience. Since he wrote it to begin with the lyrics cant be "wrong" just different
yeah true that, but the song is trademarked under something corporate which is under drive thru records, so pretty much it's technically his, but in terms like this, it's something corporates.
They're different bands, so yeah, actually it IS a cover. It's not like Andrew was the only member of Something Corporate, and they're not even on the same label, so Jacks Mannequin really has very little if any claim to the songs.
