But Dad, something will eat it, and many things will eat it, that are not as fat as you! We should not starve the wilderness, from bug to scavenger. Think of it as a soup kitchen for those less fortunate and consider it philanthropy to all of God's creatures. Damn, I am good. :)
What does this have to do with riding a dirtbike. I like to run over snakes just for fun. I’m certainly not going to pick them up I need them. Groundhogs and squirrels won’t let you run over them. Also duck and goose hunting is fun but they taste like shit.
I bought a 2016 CRF450R as my first bike! 🤪 however, I was 265lbs (245 now 50hrs on the bike stripped 20lbs off) at the time and the 250 4 strokes Bogged with my weight. Plus the 2016 CRF was a long descendant of the 2009 bike and made substantially less power than its 2016 competition. I’ve owned the bike for a year now and I love it. I can keep up with my 150-175 lb friends who ride smaller bikes but rip em hard!
not being toxic but lose weight bro u will be more happy riding bikes but hey some people are made to be a bit meaty like my uncle or definitely my grandad could never imagine him being slim
@@mjkb0566 That's what I got the bike for. It's workng ;-) Once I break 200lbs I'll be looking for a smaller bike. Like a KTM 250XCW or maybe the XC! Kyle seems to like those XC's Edited: PS Im not meaty!....... Im just big boned!
My first proper bike was a 450 ktm exc, as soon as i started to get a bit tired and the battery went flat i literally didn't have the weight or strength in me to kick it over (got me stuck panting like a dog plenty of times) that and the thing weighed so damn much it REALLY hurt when it fell on me (multiple times lol) sold it and bought a yz250 and fuck me what a difference that was, i don't think ill ever ride anything other than a 250, 300, or 500cc 2 stroke ever again.
Great advice... mostly. I got a clapped out wreck that needed a full tear down as my first bike. Learning how it works and how to repair/maintain the bike was an invaluable experience. Even after parts it was still way cheaper than something that runs.
@@mrt8560 - On the street I try to avoid high traffic density as that's where more idiots cause most of the accidents! On motorways I slow down to work through a clump of traffic then squirt it to the next clump, slow down to work through that clump & so on. - When working through clumps of traffic if you can tuck in behind e.g. an experienced salesman with fast car & high mileage - experience & other traffic is giving way to him it just makes life that much easier! :)
I just got bavk from my first ever ST ride. I went with people who were good but willing to go slow with me. It was really hard, lits of rocky and technical portions. The ride was really long and i was exhausted at the end but it was so awesome! I didnt follow all his tips, already bpught a big bike XC-w300, it was a lot. I worked hard to stay on it. I kept thinking of all these tips, it was like having kyle in my head. Going a little faster, 20% really made a difference. Most of my riding was 8-13 mph. More problems slower than that, the different of a few mph really helped. Momentum was challenging to keep, hipefully get better with confidence. Standing up was really hard, lots of muscles not used to working. Really grateful for this video, started my ride with a fresh air filter, new trans oil, new rubber. Im super happy i was prepared. Thanks Kyle! With enough ibuprofen, I'll be able to walk again soon!
Definitely learned my lesson with rule number 1 lol. Although I do ride supermoto 75% of the time, a KTM 500 exc is just too much in the woods especially uncorked.
I've just found ur channel, and I can really relate to what ur saying, finally have someone who is happy to explain stuff even to novice riders, thanks 😎🇦🇺 I've subscribed, totally agree with the going too fast rule, I've seen sooooo many people having and causing accidents by going way over their skill level.
Thank you, very helpful for me. Just started with research to get back into some mild off road riding. Quick concise helpful information was greatly appreciated!
Clapped out bike guy here lol not my first bike, but it is my first bike in years. Now I'm trying to fix up a 93 Yamaha xt350. Which is harder than I thought it would be simply due to lack of parts availability
Excellent content, anyone who rides off-road should watch this (and pay special attention to the very last point!!!! it will help keep our trails open!)
I got my first pitbike, samurai 70cc when I was 8y old. Last year I sold it and bought samurai 125cc cuz that 70 was way too small to me (Im 14). I have only helmet and gloves with me when I drive but well I havent needed better gears. I only drive on small forest roads and in forest or small roads and I live in Finland and countryside and no cops or karens here so I love riding here. But now when I have watched your videos I get good tips and get knowing how to improve my driving. Sorry little adhd and so but anyway u make good content 👍
Levers - you can run with the perch a bit loose so levers move on impact. This allows you to adjust position without tools as well. Just use loctite on the bolts so they dont loosen further. Flex leavers are also a good investment. Tubes - run with the valve stem nut either off or snugged up to the cap. This prevents valve tear. Lube tubes with moose lube to help prevent pinch flats. Spokes - cable tie them so when one breaks it doesnt fly around. Just all my opinion! All good tips there Kyle, especially the one on buying an old bike that needs too much work - 'dirtbike years are like dog years' ;-)
5:55 Turns out MSF instructors hate this about dirt bike guys. I can't tell you how many times they yelled at me to stop covering the levers. I can't stop though. I've ridden dirt bikes since I was 3 and that's not an easy habit to get out of.
If you ride bi-directional trail. Learn hand signals and use them. And never, EVER make eye contact with an oncoming rider ! Learned that back in the 70's. The hard way !
Is a hydration pack pretty much just a backpack with a drink type bottle thing in it, kinda confused. Great video though i will definetly keep these in mind.
When you were talking about your foot position you should have mentioned that you shouldn’t have the tips of your feet to low cause I’ve dislocated my left ankle 7 times from keeping my foot underneath the shifter to shift up
I'm 24 years old been on a dirt bike maybe once but now I found a KTM 90-100cc given away for free perfect condition can't wait until it gets here it's a great bike to get better on then slowly edge myself to a 125cc. I'm dangerous on any machine I get my hands on popping them wheelies and building a miny track in my yard me and my brother had some good times growing up
Couldn't agree more with the Helmet and boots. I got so much shit for spending over a grand on my helmet and boots. You ride better when you ride with confidence
Thanks for the lesson, I just ride Odong odong /home made bike😀😀. I can't effort to buy those bike. Saddddd..! Who knows I will be lucky to get one of those bike even Used one 😃😃🙏 thanks again.
Yeah if your not trying to jump(trail rideing) On a budget they are fine,i bought an apollo like 6years ago ,get a pumpercarb,i bought a cheat one and it failed,id like to see a vid with a pumper carb and aftermarket exhaust
Im going to be riding with the my friend soon and he owns a 450 bike and I just sold my quadzilla but I never really rode a dirt bike besides my klx110 but I'm gonna get a 450 dirt bike to keep up with my friend when I have the skill to keep up
Working on 5. I honestly believe its my horrible front suspension that is creating no confidence. 40 plus years of riding and racing and still learning on every ride. Love that shit.
Anyone have any advice for a mountain bike racer looking into dirt biking? Still dont have bike, but would like to get one towards the end of this summer
Best advice that NEVER gets said is DONT RIDE the trial or single track....If it’s too wet/muddy a group of 4 guys can vertically ruin a good trail in a day, if the trail is too muddy. Leave deep ruts that turn into rain Ruts, kick up embedded rocks, blow out the fun little burms in the corners. And over all wreak havoc on what was once a great trail. Not to mention the hill climbs will now have an undoubtedly a giant hole where one of them lost momentum and dug a big ass hole spinning the rear wheel at some point. This needs to be said more often and it should be a shameful thing to see guys going out on a trial when it’s too muddy.
I have a BMW F650 and took it to my first trail park and couldn't hold the steering wheel straight. The front wheel just SINKS in the sand turns on its own whichever way the sand gives in. I FALL alot! It just SINKS into whatever mushy, muddy, rainy terrain and can't hold it straight. It weighs 450lbs i think. Do I need a lighter bike? Like 250cc vs 650cc. I bought it because it was dual sport with street roads and offroads. Is it maybe for compacted harder off road conditions?
All good suggestions, definitely be respectful of property to help keep trails open, curious though how the same trails I used to ride thirty years ago that are now closed to dirt bikes due to erosion and "environmental issues" have been completely taken over by mountain bikes, or a developer comes in and bulldozer's the hell out of it, turns it inside out and Build's a subdivision for multimillion dollar homes.🤔
I’m 15 Turing 16, 125 kilos, iv had nearly 11 years experience riding, I can confirm don’t go to a 450 to quick, unfortunately for me I don’t get power out of the 250 4t and 2502t, (btw just spent $2000 on a full rebuild for my 98 cr250) personally I like the 450s just due to the power and suspunion and the power of it, btw iv been on big 4 strokes since I started riding due to my height and weight, I’m currently 6,3. Btw really good video mate 🤙🏻
just landed here definitely needed some tips want to learn to dirt bike never to late for us ladies to have some fun too haaaaaa Do you go over best trails to ride on the east coast in Mass, also how about places to rent one and what kind to rent
“ stay off if they want you to stay off“ me just putting around some public nature trails,’ some random person- that’s illegal ur not supposed to do that I’m calling the cops,’ i feel like I’m a generally nice person but those people tho
I don’t think he means nature trails, although if it’s illegal to ride them deff be careful not to get caught. I think he is talking about private property. We can’t let anyone ride ATV or dirt bikes on our farm anymore because they destroy crops and run over our equipment. I would like to let them ride, but I can’t have them going through my fields like idiots. This is what he means by being respectful, a few ppl ruined it for everyone 🤷♂️
I had a bell moto 9 flex helmet that I won and I the track I was riding was super dry and I came if sideways( no way to save it) and knocked myself out. Definitely had to retire that helmet considering it was cracked😞
If I get a husqvarna FC 350 2016 model for my first dirt bike? What stuff do I need to do to it to maintain it for like 2 years withput needing to change cylinder and stuff? Im only going to ride it on the road and Im gonna keep it under redline. I know its illegal to ride on the road but take this as a theoretical question.
So I’m looking at buying a new dirt bike and I’m thinking of a kx450f I’ve riden a 250 a couple of times with my foreman at work he used to race and new a dirt bike like the back of his hand and he reckons I should go to a 450
Just me who wants a bike good for people like me I just searched dirt bike just because I think it’s going to be fun I was going to start but this looks so cofusing
are the beta bikes easy to get parts for im 6ft 280 ut also 50 yr old looking for just trail bike maybe ill buy some gear and try to win one which would be a miracle
Man, I just found your channel and sub'd. I've been away from riding for over 40 years, and seriously looking to get started again. Long story, but no more woulda shoulda's! I was a good rider, not super in the day. Certainly not pro level. I will enjoy learning again. Dual sports are so much better today! I used to be true Red only, now heck I don't know what to think? I'm old and don't really want to go with an adventure bike, I think they may be to heavy for my desire to ride more dirt and less trail and road. Do you have any advice?
You are correct about ( large dual sports ) Some are extremely heavy and you'll be getting a work out on whatever you ride especially starting to ride from the beginning , starting to ride dirt or even transitioning from street to dirt ! Have fun !
I'm wanting to get into motocross, I've ridden big quads most of my life but I've done some bmx growing up. Will it be alright for me to hop on a kx450f?
Excalibur Gaming 125 will be the most fun bike to own trust me i’ve rode them all unless your a really big guy I have a 2018 can am 850 but still only have a 125 it’s all u need
