The other actor appearing in a cameo with Johnny Depp is Peter DeLuise, who was another one of the main 21 Jump Street series cast. Also the policewoman they talk to when they get their car. She appeared in more episodes of the TV series than anyone else.
Fun fact: 'We had johnny for one scene' is actually not true. He was in disguise as that guy through all the scenes.. and no-one in the audience ever notices 😂
Peter DeLuise is looking away from the camera a lot but I recognized him right away. Johnny did surprise me but your right. Even when he was leaning on the bike when they went to search it I would never have guessed it was him.
Ice Cube in this (and especially 22 Jump Street) is one of my favorite performances of all time. I saw this with my cousins in theaters and we were absolutely rolling at his character.
Especially in that scene in 22 jump street. You know exactly which scene I am talking about. There are a amazing scenes he has but there is one that is just so insane and funny lol and it comes out of nowhere.
Fascinating bit of trivia: a friend of mine sent me two other drafts of the movie's screenplay. The first is from the mid-2000s and it is by Andre Nemec and Josh Appelbaum, who went onto write Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. It is a straightforward adaptation of the television show, a real action-thriller that would've had new actors playing the original characters. The second draft is a different script by Jonah Hill and Michael Bacall, and frankly, it's kind of amazing how bad it is, especially considering how funny and smart the movie turned out in the end. Doubly fascinating: scanning that Hill/Bacall draft, literally the ONLY thing that I see that the two scripts have in common, the one SINGLE detail that migrated from that draft to the final product, other than the premise inherited from the television show, is that the drugs taste like Doritos (which is honestly so minimalized in the finished movie, people might not even notice that Jenko comments upon the Dorito flavor when eating the first dose, and then the gym teacher is seen with Doritos in every subsequent appearance).
That's awesome! I remember Hill describing his own version of the movie with his script as an R-rated insane bad boy meets john hughes type of movie. Based on what he said, i think this is a toned down version of his original idea.
Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatball, Lego Movie, Lego Batman, and then Into The Spiderverse!? These two directors never disappoint. They always know what they're doing with their scripts.
@@eskreskao No, that was someone else. They were producers on it because they did LEGO Movie, but it was directed by Chris McKay, who worked on "Moral Orel" and "Robot Chicken."
The original TV show took itself very seriously, this show poked fun at all the inconsistencies of the first show. Especially how they looked in their late twenties, early thirties.
Peter DeLuise As well as being a main cast member in the original 21 jump Street has appeared in acting several other roles but he is more known nowadays in Hollywood for his directing and screenwriting in particular the really large TV franchise for Stargate SG-1 as well as Stargate Atlantis.
"The other guy" is Dom DeLuise's son. He does a lot of directing and producing. I know he acted (small parts) and directed a lot of Stargate SG-1 episodes.
The scene where they were singing the song about fries, it was improvised and one of the first things filmed. Jonah Hill said he knew Channing was gonna do great when he started singing with him
This film was such a surprise to me. Back in 2012 I had zero interest in this film, would never care to see it, just no expectations at all, but one night I was given tickets to a special screening and this was playing right before that so me and my friend just decided why not and it ended up being the highlight of the night.
This was *way* more fun than I expected. I went in afraid of a Cinecringe-worthy film and laughed myself silly. Thanks again for introducing me to something outside of my usual range of movies!
Hoffs, at the motor pool, was one of the originals too. The Miranda warning doesn't have to be read when an arrest is made. The suspect has to be made aware of their rights before being questioned. As long as they don't ask any questions, they don't need to say a word.
@@Scott_Forsell Dasha is more of a Russian immigrant who lives in Canada but I guess she would now be considered Canadian. I do love her reactions, so much insight from her commentary. I just love it. I’ve only seen one video of Kazzy and my first impression was that she’s ok but I need to see more of her videos to see if she’s someone i would watch
@@JayEdgar0409 Man, I don't believe I was that perceptive when I was her age. Especially considering she is watching movies in her second language. She is wicked smart. Dasha is definitely more empathetic than I was at her age. Her most endearing trait is raw, genuine empathy. Is Diegesis Canadian?
One of the close-up pics on his parent's wall, of 'young Jonah Hill's character', actually looks like a young Fred Savage! Like maybe it was a headshot from when he was auditioning for "The Wonder Years", or something.
I can’t help myself… At 5:33: you only read Miranda if you about to question the arrested person specifically about that crime and those question can or result in gaining implicating and incriminating answers from the suspect-- But, on other hand, those two knuckle heads were on patrol and discovered a crime-- no Miranda necessary just to place them under arrest and detain them-- but the shooting in celebration-- now can result in them two losing their jobs 😂
I loved the original show it had quite a mix in the cast. Besides a very young Depp were Peter and Michael DeLuise, Holly Robinson, Dustin Nguyen, Richard Grieco and Stephen Williams as the captain. The DeLuise brothers were always fun to watch. They were also together on Seaquest and Stargate SG-1. Thanks for a blast from the past guys.
The kissing booth kids were not in their 30s. When they filmed it Joey was 17, Flynn was 19, and Joel was 21. Which is hilarious because Joel looks the youngest and played the younger brother.
The other actor with Johnny Depp is Peter DeLuise who was Depps partner on the original show. Depp said he would only do the cameo if DeLuise is with him.
I need to know does this guy have Dirt on every RU-vid channel that does reactions? Why does he invade them all? I am just happy that you are doing a movie I never liked with him. Just my opinion. I really enjoy you guys. By yourselves!
best reaction ive seen from you guys!!! this movie is so rediculous and hilarious and seeing your first time seeing reaction made me crack up! good shit guys, keep it up!
I love that Timothee didnt understand the "Cannabis Sativa" thing. He said they were probably studying, like that would help you identify sativa or indica from a great distance lmfaoooo.
I LOVED the original series back in the day! When this movie first came out, I admit, I was highly offended that they turned it into a borderline-absurdist comedy (just as I was with the CHiPs movie!) Rewatching it now, with you guys, I can appreciate the humor, especially the self-aware jokes! Oh, and as a former cop (absolutely no correlation between my love of the original show, as well as shows like Miami Vice, etc. and me becoming a cop! I swear!), this movie perpetuates a common misunderstanding: you do NOT have to read someone their rights immediately upon arresting someone. You only have to read them their rights before accusatory, in custody, questioning. You can ask basic, informational questions (name, address, phone, etc.) without having to advise them of their rights. Also, it is a technique where you let someone sit and stew, without saying/asking anything to/of them. Some people will get nervous and blurt out information! Their attorney will try to get it thrown out, but, voluntary utterances (absent any questioning) are often admissible.
Honest feedback: it’s much better when it’s just you guys. Sorry but couldn’t hear that other dudes comments and you’re all just talking over each other. Your channel is great, your reactions are honest and don’t seem forced, plus you have good rapport and you don’t need to include other reactors IMO
To be honest I prefer just you 2 reacting. It gets too crowded with more than 2 and it's hard to keep up, when there's also the movie dialogue. Most reactors have only 1 which is boring when there's no natural conversation they just talk to themselves (camera), which is kinda artificial in a way. Two is the sweetspot, real interactions without getting crowded
it wasn't just johnny his jump street partner played by peter deluise who is the brother to david deluise who played jerry russo in wizards was there too
What's also fun to notice is: Molly, Brie Larson, went on to be Captain Marvel. The blond competing 21 Jump St cop is Dakota Johnson, who went on to be Anastastia Steele in 50 Shades of Grey.
I expected this movie to just be a bad remake of the original (and awesome!) 21 Jump Street. I was super surprised to find that instead of doing that, they made it a comedy, and even more surprised to find that it was absolutely hilarious! Before this movie I'd never seen Channing Tatum in anything good, only in garbage like GI Joe, so I thought he was just some talentless pretty boy. Holy crap, was I ever wrong! Turns out he's a great comedic actor
Same, I totally wrote Channing off as another heart throb celeb with no skill or jokes, but he totally proved me wrong!! I was so pleasantly surprised by his humor in this. I'm so happy he finally got a role in something that showed that, since Hollywood seems fixated on typecasting actors into oblivion
Actually even funnier than those pictures being jonah hill when he was a kid, they are juat pictures of the child actor fred savage from wonder years and the princess bride
I haven't read all the comment section but yes, those pictures are real pictures of Jonah Hill as a kid! His mom didn't understand why they were funny!
Please please please don't pop the face window out. You leaving the face windows on the side/bottom is why I watch this channel and not other reaction channels.
